Clinical Aspect of Erosive Pustular Dermatosis of the Leg

Erosive Pustular Dermatosis of the Leg

Erosive pustular dermatosis of the leg is a fairlyrecent clinical entity that was described the first time in 1987. Diagnosis of erosive pustular dermatosis of the leg is made on clinical grounds. It presents as non-follicular pustules of variable size and numbers that rapidly give way to erosions and crusts on one or both legs, and which are found in particular on the anterior aspect of the middle third of the leg (. The lesions are of chronic progression, despite topical therapy. Erosive pustular dermatosis of the leg is seen in elderly patients, mainly female, and may be associated with chronic venous insufficiency or cutaneous atrophy. In the absence of specific criteria and because of the existence of misleading clinical forms, diagnosis is based upon exclusion.

Skin Diseases and Pregnancy: Which Heathcare Professionals ?

Skin AbnormalitiesPregnancy

Pregnancy-induced physiological dermatological changes are common. In 2016, they represented between 23% (acne) and 75% (pigmentary changes) of pregnancies in France. Some dermatological changes require medical advice to identify a possible pathological rash. These pathological rashes can be dangerous for the mother or the fetus. The aim of this study is to assess the prevalence of skin diseases during pregnancy and to evaluate the care pathway in a healthcare sector (Vendee) for these pregnant women?

Studying Normal Breast Tissue and Cancer Risk

Breast NeoplasmsNeoplasms by Site3 more

Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women in the United States. Breast cancer research has been hampered by the difficulty in collecting normal breast tissue. In this study, researchers will obtain samples of normal breast tissue from organ donors and will collect risk-factor data from next-of-kin. The purpose of this study is to learn how normal breast develops and responds to stresses that are known to increase a woman s chance of developing breast cancer. Following the breast-tissue donation from 20 volunteers, surgical technicians will make small incisions in the skin and tissue of the breast and remove several samples measuring about one-inch. Technicians also will take samples of the uterine lining to estimate the date of the last menstrual period. The tissue will then be sent to the National Cancer Institute for laboratory research studies. Steps will be taken to ensure that the identity of the participants remains confidential.

T Cell Repertoire Analysis of Immune Mediated Skin Diseases

PsoriasisMycosis Fungoides

This study is designed to identify the cells of the immune system that cause skin disease such as psoriasis and mycosis fungoides. Blood samples from many patients will be compared in hopes of finding common cells and molecules responsible for skin diseases. Results of this study will increase our knowledge about immune mediated skin disease.

Studies of Patients With Skin Disease, Patients With Neurological Degenerations, and Normal Volunteers...

HealthyMuscular Dystrophy3 more

It is proposed that patients with skin disease due to presumed immunologic, genetic or viral-induced abnormalities, patients with neurological degenerations, and normal controls be evaluated with various in vitro studies of immunologic, genetic, and virologic function. This is to include studies of peripheral blood (cells and serum) as well as studies of skin obtained with a biopsy instrument. In addition, studies of gastrointestinal function will be performed where appropriate.
