Small Cell CarcinomaThis phase I trial studies the side effects and best dose of nortriptyline hydrochloride when given together with paclitaxel in treating patients with small cell carcinoma that has come back. Nortriptyline hydrochloride, may help disrupt survival signals and cause cancer cell death. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as paclitaxel, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells, by stopping them from dividing, or by stopping them from spreading. Giving nortriptyline hydrochloride and paclitaxel may work better in treating patients with small cell carcinoma.

Recurrent Small Cell Lung CarcinomaThis randomized clinical trial studies how well tremelimumab and durvalumab with or without radiation therapy works in treating patients with small cell lung cancer that has returned after a period of improvement. Monoclonal antibodies, such as tremelimumab and durvalumab, may limit the ability of tumor cells to grow and spread by enhancing immune function. Radiation therapy uses high energy x-rays to kill tumor cells and shrink tumors. Giving tremelimumab and durvalumab together with radiation therapy may lead to improved clinical benefit.

Subjects must not be eligible for therapy of higher curative potential where an alternative treatment has been shown to prolong survival in an analogous population. Approximately 23 sites in the US and 2 in Canada will participate in this study.

This study is initiated to investigate the early and delayed neurotoxicity of PCI and to assess in a randomised design the benefits and risks of sparing the hippocampus in Small Cell Lung Cancer patients who receive PCI.
