Neuroimaging Study on the Effect of Transdermal Buprenorphine in Complex Regional Pain Syndrome...
Complex Regional Pain SyndromesIn the present study, we aim to investigate the effect of buprenorphine on neuroinflammation in patients with complex regional pain syndrome, using [11C]-(R)-PK11195 PET.
Biological Sample Repository for Gastrointestinal Disorders
ObesityObesity18 moreThe goal of this observational study has the purpose of collecting biological samples from obese patients undergoing evaluation for weight loss by means of medical or endoscopic therapies; and of post bariatric surgery patients presenting with short- and long-term surgical complications. The aim is to enhance the overall understanding of the mechanisms leading to obesity, weight loss, failure to lose weight, and weight regain following treatment. Additional goals are to determine the efficacy of endoscopic and surgical procedures, to identify potential therapeutic targets and disease biomarkers that predict response to therapy.
Long Term Efficacy and Tolerability of AP707 in Patients With Chronic Pain Due to Central Neuropathy...
PainPain Syndrome12 moreOver the last years a rising medical need for treatment of chronic pain was identified. Based on previous findings indicating the pain modulating effects of cannabinoids in chronic pain disorders, this clinical trial investigates the long term efficacy and tolerability of the THC-focused nano endocannabinoid system modulator AP707 in patients with chronic pain disorders due to central neuropathy of any genesis. Patients receive AP707 or placebo over the course of 14 weeks as an add-on to the standard of care. Changes in pain intensity, quality of life and sleep and others measures are monitored through different scales to assess the efficacy of AP707 in patients with chronic pain due to central neuropathy of any genesis.
Identifying Genetic Causes of IC/BPS
Interstitial CystitisBladder Pain Syndrome1 moreInterstitial cystitis (IC), also called Bladder Pain syndrome (BPS), or chronic pelvic pain syndrome(CPPS) is a common condition with no known cause or cure. Twin studies and family accounts have suggested that the condition may be genetic or passed down (inherited) from one generation to another. In this study, we are collecting genetic material and medical information from families in North America in an attempt to identify genetic factors that may cause IC/BPS/CPPS. We are enrolling families and individuals with IC/BPS/CPPS and their family members (both family members with and without IC like symptoms).
Efficacy of Local Anesthetic and Ozone Injection in Patients With Myofascial Pain Syndrome
Myofascial Pain SyndromeOzoneIn this study, the investigators planned to compare local anesthetic injection added to stretching exercise, ozone injection treatment added to stretching exercise, and only stretching exercise in patients with upper trapezius muscle myofascial pain syndrome.
Relationship Between Selected Parameters and Bruxism
Sleep BruxismSleep Disorder5 moreBruxism is a common phenomenon. It is estimated that its prevalence in the adult population is 8-31%. Bruxism occurring during sleep is the activity of the masticatory muscles that appear during sleep, which can be rhythmic or phased and is not a movement disorder or sleep disorder in healthy people. It is currently believed that bruxism should not be considered a disorder. In healthy people, it is treated rather as behavior, which may be a risk factor for pathological clinical implications or a protective factor in the presence of other disease entities. The most common symptoms of bruxism include: pathological wear and tooth sensitivity, periodontal and oral mucosa damage, myalgia in the stomatognathic system, headache and prosthetic restoration damage. However, due to nocturnal occurrence, bruxism symptoms may go unnoticed for a long time, which means that patients are often unaware of this behavior. The etiology of bruxism is multifactorial and not fully understood. It is currently believed that it can be caused by genetic, psychological and exogenous factors. Due to the unclear etiology of bruxism, it is so important to conduct research that allows making a certain diagnosis and finding the causes of this phenomenon
Observation of Ketamine Treatment Safety and Tolerability in Adult Psychiatry Clinic Medical University...
Major Depressive DisorderPost Traumatic Stress Disorder4 moreAdult Psychiatry Clinic Medical University of Gdańsk (MUG) is a healthcare facility that provides ketamine treatment to adult patients suffering from mental health conditions. The Clinic especially treats individuals suffering from treatment-resistant disorders, like - mood disorders, anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive and related disorders, trauma and stressor-related disorders, somatic symptom and related disorders, and dissociative disorders. Herein, this naturalistic observation aims to look at the safety and tolerability of ketamine treatment to further develop the understanding of ketamine in the use of psychiatry.
Development of Machine Learning Models for the Prediction of Complications After Colonic, Colorectal...
Postoperative ComplicationsPsychosomatic Disorder8 moreOur study aims to lay the basis for a predictive modeling service for postoperative complications and prolonged hospital stay in patients suffering from psychiatric diseases undergoing colorectal surgery. Furthermore, we aim to investigate the impact of preoperative Risk factors, psychiatric and psychosomatic diseases on the outcomes of colorectal surgery and the complications after colorectal surgeries like anastomosis insufficiency via predictive modeling techniques The service mentioned above will be publicly available as a web-based application
Role of the Gut Microbiome in Complex Regional Pain Syndrome
Complex Regional Pain SyndromesThe objective of this prospective, observational study is to determine the association between the composition of the gut microbiota and the severity and persistence of Complex Regional Pain Syndrome symptoms (Study A). The objective of Study B, a longitudinal study of microbiota biomarkers of patients with newly diagnosed CRPS is to determine if the researchers can predict which patients are more likely to recover compared to those who do not. A secondary objective of both studies is to examine cognitive flexibility in relation to outcomes (study A and B).
Genetic Study of Chronic Prostatitis/Chronic Pelvic Pain Syndrome (CP/CPPS)
Chronic Prostatitis (CP)Chronic Pelvic Pain Syndrome (CPPS)3 moreChronic Prostatitis/Chronic Pelvic Pain Syndrome (CP/CPPS) is a condition with several causes of which some remain unknown. It is believed that some types of CP may be genetic or passed down (inherited) from one generation to the next. In this study, we are collecting genetic material and medical information to try to determine if genetic factors play a role in CP/CPPS. We will be collecting DNA (from Blood/Saliva sample) and urine from each participant. Bladder tissue from affected individuals will also be collected. Individuals and families with CP/CPPS will be enrolled. Family members of an individual with CP/CPPS are eligible whether or not they also experience CP/CPPS symptoms.
