Study Design: Evaluation of the psychometric properties of a translated, culturally adapted questionnaire. Objective: Translating, culturally adapting, and validating the Italian version of the Cumberland Ankle Instability Tool (CAIT-I), allowing its use with Italian-speaking population to monitor both state of health and functional limitation deriving from ankle instability problems, in order to evaluate the degree of severity, without using the comparison with the opposite limb. Summary of Background Data: Lateral ankle sprain is the most common injury during sports activity, often cause of disability and of numerous complications following repeated episodes, including chronic ankle instability (CAI), which affects 32% to 74% of the aforementioned cases. Growing attention is devoted to standardized outcome measures to improve interventions for injured population. A translated form of the Cumberland Ankle Instability Tool (CAIT), a simple and specific tool for diagnosing chronic lateral ankle instability with excellent psychometric characteristics of both reliability and validity, has never been validated within the Italian speaking population.

Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport (RED-S) characterizes a range of negative health and performance outcomes that result from chronically low energy availability. RED-S concerns high performance junior and senior athletes across Canada and has a prevalence rate of 3-60%. Our ability to assess and diagnose RED-S remains poor. Accordingly, we aim to create the best parameters to diagnose and manage RED-S; along with information of the prevalence and severity across Canada and globally. These outcomes are expected to have a significant positive impact on the health and performance of Canadian athletes in preparation for the Olympic Games in 2022 and beyond.

Due to its nature, sports are an activity in which injuries are common. Sports injuries have athletic and environmental reasons. In sports injuries, although the medical team is generally interested in the physiological aspect of the injury, in recent years, the psychological aspect of the injury has also started to be taken care of. One of these psychological aspects is anxiety. Athletes who develop sports injury anxiety are more prone to injury. One of the environmental reasons is the ground for sports. We could not find a study in the literature comparing the anxiety levels of those who do sports on different grounds in different sports branches. Our study will provide support to the literature in this direction.

Analysis of the Variation of the Retinal Vascularization After a Prolonged Effort

The cardiovascular parameters of prolonged physical exercice have been studied, but very little data is available about the retinal vascularization. The eye allows in vivo visualization of micro-vascularisation and is considered as an excellent marker of general vascular condition. The marathon is an intense and prolonged exercise (running 42.195 km) in aerobic environment. Thus the investigators propose to study the vascular parameters of the retina, before and after this physical exercise. This will allow : 1) to collect information on the physiology of the retinal vascularization to prolonged effort, 2) to detect any retinal damage (haemorrhages, edema, occlusion ...), not known to date. The results may highlight vascular effects related to retinal hypoxia (venous tortuosity, haemorrhage, venous occlusion, hypoxic edema). Furthermore the results may urge prevention in this sport more and more democratized. the investigators hypothesized that prolonged physical exercice causes a change in retinal vascularization.

''This study aims to determine the relationship between functional movement screen (FMS), core stabilization and Y balance test. The study will include evaluations on 30 handball players and 30 sedentary individuals.'' Functional movement analysis is a biomechanical screening and evaluation system to identify limitations and asymmetries in 7 basic movements. This system reveals the kinetic chain interaction between mobility and stability required for basic performance. Unlike conventional assessment methods, FHA focuses on the efficiency and quality of the movement pattern, not on the number of repetitions or weight lifted. The main aim of the study was to reveal the relationship between functional movement screen and core endurance and Y balance test evaluations in handball players with objective data. Functional movement is the general name of the activities performed by individuals for function and the movements performed by individuals for function are examined with analysis methods. In an effective analysis, if people do not have appropriate stability and mobility, it is determined from which muscle-muscle group or joint the problem originates. Analyses play a role in determining which of the stabilization, mobilization and flexibility factors are problematic at which stage of the function. In addition, these methods are effective in preventing possible injuries while helping to improve balance, strength and power characteristics of individuals. Core stabilization problems cause significant posture and stabilization problems. These problems are reflected in functional movements. Core stabilization problems are thought to have negative effects on functional movement analysis scores. Active athletes with this problem will be more affected. This study also aimed to observe the differences between athletes and sedentary individuals. Studies defined the core as the part of the body in the musculoskeletal system consisting of the proximal lower extremities, abdominal structures, hips, pelvis and spine and stated that the core muscles are composed of the trunk and pelvis muscles. It is argued that trunk and pelvis stabilization is essential for all movements of the extremities. The transversus abdominis and multifidus work in cocontraction and control excessive anterior pelvic tilt, which is known to be associated with femoral internal rotation and adduction. The musculature of the core is referred to as the muscular corset over the trunk and spine that stabilizes the body with or without limb movement. The strength and stabilization of the core affects the fitness and physical fitness of athletes. Core exercises should be included in exercise programs planned to improve athletic performance. Core endurance tests have been defined to reveal the relationship between core stabilization and performance. Lateral bridge test and trunk flexor test are the preferred core endurance tests in this study. The Y balance test is a dynamic test that requires strength, flexibility, core control and proprioception in a single-legged stance. Functional movement analysis, core stabilization tests and Y balance test are assessment scales that provide objective data on stabilization, postural alignment and spinal alignment. It is envisaged that these three assessment parameters will support each other after the study. Functional movements are widely used during both daily and sports activities. Core stabilization and dynamic balance are the factors that determine the quality of functional movements. These movements become more important for athletes as they affect their sporting success. Athletes need a good evaluation to ensure and maintain success. Since handball is defined as a sport that requires a lot of effort, the risks increase and it becomes clear that the evaluation should be done with a holistic approach.Injuries in handball develop due to multifactors.Biomechanical, kinesthetic and functional losses in players should be determined to prevent injuries.Functional movement analysis, core stabilization, Y balance test will give us detailed information about posture, limb alignment and asymmetry, spinal smoothness, dynamic balance and will give us the chance to analyze whether there is a correlation between these tests.

Role of Neuromuscular Training in Reducing Sports Injuries and Improving Fitness Among Chicago Public...

Leg Injuries

Sports-related injuries are a serious concern for physically active children and adolescents. Previous research, including ours at Chicago public high schools, shows our neuromuscular training program, the Knee Injury Prevention Program (KIPP) reduces sports-related injuries in female athletes by up to 88%. However, KIPP is not well-studied in males or younger age groups. This project aims to determine KIPP's effect on sports-related injuries and physical fitness among 5th-8th grade students in Chicago public schools. The study will take place during the 2011-2013 school years. To measure KIPP's effect on sports injuries, we will recruit 5th-8th grade sports coaches and their athletes, randomize coaches by school into two groups, then train the intervention group to implement a 10-minute KIPP warm-up before practices and games. Control group will perform their usual warm-up. Research assistants will collect athlete participation and injury data from coaches weekly. To determine feasibility of KIPP in PE classes and measure its effect on fitness, we will recruit PE teachers to implement the warm-up in PE classes for a minimum of 10 weeks, and record students' presidential fitness test scores before and after the 10+ weeks. Results of this study will guide strategies for preventing sports-related injuries and improving physical fitness in 5th -8th graders.

In this study the investigators want to assess the prognostic value of blood-based biomarkers with recovery from concussive episodes over specific time points post-injury. Our research aims to (1) assess that the World Rugby's head injury assessment (HIA) can identify that a concussion has taken place by measuring specific biomarkers in the blood and (2) to track these biomarkers over time post-injury as a means to assess player health.

Application of 3D-Matrix in Knee Joint Sports Injury

3 d scan sequence can realize continuous thin layer scanning, the thinnest layer thickness of 0.5 mm, to reduce the effects of partial volume effect and improve the spatial resolution image, the other 3 d sequence can according to need to multiplanar reconstruction based on the original image, the image of the watch is no longer limited to a fixed plane, and can avoid repeated scanning, reducing overall inspection time. Initially, 3D MRI uses gradient echo sequences (3D-GRE). Although the scan time of 3D-GRE is acceptable and has a high spatial resolution, the contrast between tissues is poor. In recent years, is voxel 3D fast spin-echo sequence (3D-FSE) has become an alternative 3D scanning sequence. Compared with the 3D-GRE sequence, 3D-FSE has better-intertissued contrast. However, there are still some problems in the application of 3D sequence in clinical practice. On the one hand, although 3D sequence reduces the overall scanning time, it increases the single scanning time, so it is easy to produce motion artifacts. On the other hand, although many studies have demonstrated the diagnostic efficacy of 3D sequences in the diagnosis of common intraarticular structural injuries, especially in the diagnosis of knee cartilage injuries, the diagnostic value of 3D sequences is comparable to that of conventional 2D-FSE sequences, but the evidence on whether 3D sequences can replace 2D sequences is still insufficient. Recently, a new fast signal acquisition technology -- Compressed Sensing (Compressed Sensing) technology has been gradually applied to many kinds of MRI sequences, and its application in 3D sequences can greatly shorten the single scan time. In this study, Modulated Flip Angle Technique in Refocused Imaging with Extended Echo was applied by United Imaging Co., Ltd. (Compressed Sensing) Train, 3D-Matrix), which is a fast self-selected echo sequence based on variable turn Angle technology, and its single scan time can be shortened to 5 minutes. 3 d sequence to more systematic evaluation on sports injury of knee joint application value, the investigators will study from within the bony structure of knee joint injury, joint structure damage and injury of the surrounding support structure aspects to discuss the diagnosis effect, and with arthroscopy for the gold standard to evaluate the accuracy of the 3 d structure within the sequence in the diagnosis of knee joint injury.

The Oslo Sports Trauma Research Center (OSTRC) was established in May 2000 at the Norwegian School of Sport Sciences.The OSTRC aims to prevent injuries and other health problems related to sports. The majority of the research conducted at OSTRC involves elite sports. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of the Oslo Sports Trauma Research Center (OSTRC) Injury Prevention Program in reducing injuries among athletes. Hypothesis: that Oslo Sports Trauma Research Center (OSTRC) Injury Prevention Program has a beneficial effect in terms of injury prevention.
