Dietary Supplement With Magnesium, Vitamins, Rhodiola and L-theanine Stressed Subjects: Randomized...
StressPsychologicalThe aim is to study the effect of a dietary supplement on stress and pain through questionnaires and follow-up of physiological parameters, and functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI) in stressed healthy subjects versus stressed healthy subjects without treatment.
Resolving Psychological Stress
Post-Traumatic Stress DisorderAlcohol Use DisorderThe investigators have developed a mobile app called Resolving Psychological Stress (REPS) to help alleviate symptoms of PTSD. The app will administer threat-related attention bias modification to individuals who have both a Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders V (DSM-V) diagnosis of PTSD (and meet at least one DSM-V criteria for threat sensitivity) and a DSM-V diagnosis of Alcohol Use Disorder. The aims of the study are to explore both the feasibility and acceptability of the app with it's users, and to explore the efficacy of the app at alleviating PTSD severity.

Sleep Well: Digital Insomnia Treatment Program For Physicians
Sleep DisturbanceInsomnia5 moreSleep disturbance is risk factor for incident depression and remains a leading concern for physician burnout; as sleep plays a fundamental role in mood, stress, and cognition, including medical errors. The goal of this project is to implement an evidence-based digital therapy to treat insomnia (Sleep Healthy Using the Internet (SHUTi) for physicians to improve both sleep and mental health outcomes. The investigators will evaluate both process and individual-outcome metrics to define success. Individual level outcomes will be assessed pre-program (at start of participation), week 8 (end-program), and week 16 (2-month follow-up). This information will enable us to design larger future implementation initiatives for the healthy sleep program across the hospital, should the pilot be successful.
Stress Recovery Program FOREST+ for Healthcare Workers
StressPsychologicalThe aim of the study is to assess the efficacy of an online stress recovery intervention for healthcare workers receiving therapist-assisted or on-demand support.
The Health and Wellness Curriculum Assessment
TraumaPsychological2 moreThe overarching goal of the study is to examine the effects of a new Health and Wellness Curriculum (Pure Power) being implemented in the Ravenswood City School District in East Palo Alto. The Pure Power Curriculum, which the Sonima Foundation (Now Pure Edge Inc.,)developed, includes exercise based on yoga, common exercise regimes, relaxation techniques, mindfulness practices, and nutrition education, and was introduced in 2014 to the Ravenswood City Schools, independent of the research. The new curriculum was expected to yield dramatic positive effects on students' socio-emotional development, which the investigators aimed to examine through this study. This research evaluation measures the impact of the Pure Power Curriculum on the socioemotional, behavioral, cognitive, academic, and physiological functioning of students in a low-socioeconomic status (SES) school community over time by evaluating student development at three time points: baseline (i.e., prior to implementation of the curriculum), one-year follow-up, and two-year follow-up. Only third and fifth-grade students were eligible for enrollment at baseline. All data collection procedures were replicated with the control group.
Effect of a Bundle of Non-pharmacological Interventions on the Stress Response to Surgery
Surgical InjuryStress5 moreRationale: Surgical trauma and post-surgical pain induce a physiological stress response that can be detrimental to the patient. Non-pharmacological interventions aimed at stress reduction are known to reduce pain scores and opioid consumption. The effect of these interventions on the surgical stress response are unknown. Objective: To assess the effect of a bundle of non-pharmacological interventions implemented in the post-anesthesia care unit on the total serum cortisol levels after intermediate and major surgery. Study design: This is a prospective before-after study. Study population: Patients scheduled for intermediate or major oncological surgery in a tertiary referral cancer center. Intervention: The implementation of a bundle of four non-pharmacological interventions aimed at stress reduction in the post-anesthesia care unit. The bundle consists of: access to music, aromatherapy, natural images on the walls and ceiling and communication techniques aimed at reduction of stress and pain. Main study parameters/endpoints: Serum cortisol levels on the first postoperative day.
