A Study to Evaluate the Safety and Efficacy of Basmisanil Treatment in Children Aged 2-14 Years...

Dup15q Syndrome

This study consists of two parts. Part 1 will evaluate the safety, efficacy, and pharmacodynamics of 52-weeks of basmisanil treatment in children and adolescents (aged 2-14 years) with Dup15q syndrome. Part 1 will test the hypothesis that negative allosteric modulation of a GABAA receptor subtype can address excessive receptor function and positively impact core neurodevelopmental disease feature in individuals with Dup15q syndrome. Part 2 is an optional 2-year open-label extension to evaluate long-term safety, tolerability, and to provide supportive evidence of benefit of continued treatment with basmisanil in selected efficacy outcomes.

Impact of Early Postoperative Treatment With Posterior Tibial Nerve Stimulation on the Incidence...

Rectal DisordersLow Anterior Resection Syndrome1 more

The treatment of rectal cancer is currently based on surgical resection of the rectum with total excision of the mesorectum, associated with neoadjuvant radiochemotherapy. Surgical resections with sphincter preservation are frequently (60% of cases) associated with problems related to intestinal and defecatory function, which together are called Anterior Resection Syndrome (ARS) with varying degrees of severity. Among the different treatments the investigators find posterior tibial nerve stimulation, a simple and non-invasive technique, which is currently used. The study aims to analyze whether postoperative posterior tibial nerve stimulation in patients undergoing low anterior resection of the rectum has an impact on the incidence and duration of low anterior resection syndrome (LARS) and therefore on the quality of life of patients undergoing this type of intervention. Therefore, treatment with PNTS is currently established for the management of LARS symptoms. Given that a large percentage of patients operated on for rectal neoplasms will develop this syndrome, the investigators intend to apply this treatment before the onset of symptoms in patients at risk for LARS. It is also an intervention with a low rate of side effects, the benefit that the investigators can obtain from its preventive application is clearly superior to the risk of undergoing such treatment. The investigators´ hypothesis is: Posterior tibial stimulation for 6 weeks post-operative of low anterior resection with anastomosis has a favorable impact by reducing the incidence and duration of ARS and improving the quality of life of patients undergoing anterior rectal resections for cancer.

CRD vs. Met in Patients With Obese PCOS Infertility

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a common gynecological endocrine disease and a major cause of anovulatory infertility in reproductive-aged women. From 2010 to 2020, it was found that the prevalence of PCOS in reproductive-aged women in China reached 7.8%, an increase of 65% over 10 years ago. Many of them are overweight or obese. Weight loss including diet modifications can significantly reduce reproductive and metabolic disorders of PCOS and is recommended as a first step in the treatment of overweight or obese women with PCOS. Many weight loss programs have been proposed, including calorie-restriction diet (CRD) intervention. Whether CRD intervention prior to ovulation induction therapy could improve live birth rates in overweight/obese PCOS women has not been illustrated.

Fecal Microbiota Transplantation to Relieve Symptoms of Irritable Bowel Syndrome With Constipation...

Irritable Bowel Syndrome

Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a complex multifactorial functional disorder, whose pathophysiology is largely associated to an impairment of the intestinal microbiota composition, namely dysbiosis. Thus, the modulation of the gut microbiota has been proposed as a possible therapeutic strategy for IBS patients alongside with current available drugs. Fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) is a promising strategy to restore intestinal eubiosis. In this randomised double-blind placebo-controlled trial patients diagnosed with IBS with constipation are assigned with 1:1 ratio to receive FMT from healthy donor or autologous FMT (placebo group) to assess the effectiveness of FMT on IBS symptoms and quality of life, to evaluate the safety of FMT among IBS patients and to estimate any change in the gut microbiota composition of IBS patients after the FMT.
