The Effect of Melatonin in Patients With Low Anterior Resection Syndrome

Low Anterior Resection Syndrome

The primary objective of the study is to investigate whether treatment with melatonin has an alleviating effect on Low Anterior Resection Syndrome (LARS) symptoms. Secondarily, the effect of the treatment on bowel movements, other patient reported symptoms, quality of life, depression, anxiety, sleep disturbances, motilin levels, and microscopic changes in rectal mucosa will be investigated.

Intestinal Permeability and Intestinal Microbiota in Irritable Bowel Syndrome

Irritable Bowel Syndrome With Diarrhea

Patients with diarrhea-predominant irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and functional dyspepsia (FD) were examined and received treatment in the study. Severity of complaints and quality of life patients were assessed according to questionnaires. The state of the intestinal barrier (analysis of the protein composition, intestinal mucin levels in biopsies, serum zonulin level in blood), the composition of the gut microbiota (16S rRNA gene sequencing), bacterial metabolic function (short-chain fatty acid levels in feces), and the presence of gut inflammation (levels of lymphocytes and eosinophils in biopsies) were assessed in the patients. Patients were divided into 3 treatment groups: trimebutin + placebo, rebamipide + placebo, trimebutin + rebamipide. The above parameters were compared in patients before and after treatment.

Myelodysplastic Syndromes

This is an open label, Phase Ib/IIa study designed to evaluate the safety, toxicity and biological activity of high dose Vitamin C in bone marrow and peripheral blood when administered as therapy to patients with intermediate or high risk myelodysplastic syndrome according to the revised IPSS (international prognostic scoring system) criteria whose disease has a Ten-eleven translocation-2, (TET2) mutation.

Guadecitabine and Atezolizumab in Treating Patients With Advanced Myelodysplastic Syndrome or Chronic...

Chronic Myelomonocytic LeukemiaMyelodysplastic Syndrome1 more

This phase I/II trial studies the side effects and best dose of guadecitabine when given together with atezolizumab and to see how well they work in treating patients with myelodysplastic syndrome or chronic myelomonocytic leukemia that has spread to other places in the body and has come back or does not respond to treatment. Guadecitabine may stop the growth of cancer cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. Monoclonal antibodies, such as atezolizumab, may interfere with the ability of cancer cells to grow and spread. Giving guadecitabine and atezolizumab may work better in treating patients with myelodysplastic syndrome or chronic myelomonocytic leukemia.

Ixazomib Citrate, Lenalidomide, and Dexamethasone in Treating Patients With POEMS Syndrome

PlasmacytomaPOEMS Syndrome

This phase II trial studies how well ixazomib citrate, lenalidomide, and dexamethasone work in treating patients with polyneuropathy, organomegaly, endocrinopathy, monoclonal gammopathy, and skin changes (POEMS) syndrome. Ixazomib citrate may stop the growth of cancer cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. Chemotherapy drugs, such as lenalidomide, work in different ways to stop the growth of cancer cells, either by killing the cells, by stopping them from dividing, or by stopping them from spreading. Anti-inflammatory drugs, such as dexamethasone lower the body's immune response and are used with other drugs in the treatment of some types of cancer. Giving ixazomib citrate, lenalidomide, and dexamethasone may work better in treating patients with POEMS syndrome.
