Revlimid in Transfusion Dependent Patients

Myelodysplastic Syndrome

This is a prospective trial of Revlimid for subjects who have a blood cell cancer called myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS). Cells in their marrow make proteins through messages that are carried from the genes. The amount of the message tells researchers if the protein it is going to make is high or low. This is known as expression of genes. The purpose of this study is to conduct a prospective trial testing the idea that expression of specific genes can help to predict which patients will respond to study drug administration with Revlimid (lenalidomide).

Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome

Researchers want to better understand what happens to the heart when the stem cells are injected directly into the muscle of the right side of the heart during the Stage II palliative surgery for single ventricle patients with hypoplastic left heart syndrome (HLHS) or HLHS variant. Researchers want to see if there are changes in the heart's structure/function following this stem cell-based therapy and compared to children that have not had cell-based therapy.

Diagnostic Value of Compression Ultrasound to Detect Acute Compartment Syndrome After Lower Limb...

Compartment Syndrome of Leg

Acute compartment syndrome (ACS) after revascularization for acute limb ischemia is a potentially limb-threatening condition and requires urgent fasciotomy. Compression ultrasound (CU) is an established method for measuring intravenous pressure in superficial veins and, for example, can determine central venous pressure in critically ill patients. In cadaver studies, compression ultrasound has been proven to correlate with invasive intra compartmental pressure (ICP) measurements. This study aims to determine CU's added diagnostic value compared to ICP in detecting ACS after revascularisation.

Prognosis of Dental Implants in Patients With Primary Sjögren's Syndrome

Dental ImplantPrimary Sjögren Syndrome

Primary Sjögren's Syndrome (PSS) is a chronic autoimmune inflammatory disease primarily involving the salivary and lacrimal glands. Few data exist regarding survival and success rate of dental implants in patients with PSS. Although a previous study suggest lower success rate for dental implants we hypothesize that dental implants have similar survival and success rate in PSS as healthy controls. The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the long-term survival and success rate of dental implants in patients with PSS compared to the healthy controls.

Interest of the 7 Tesla MRI in the Diagnosis of Post-concussion Syndromes Among Patients With Mild...

Post-Concussion Syndrome

We aimed to conduct a prospective longitudinal interventionnal monocentric study to assess the ability of seven tesla MRI to detect diffuses axonal lesions in patients presenting a post concussional syndrom (PCS) at seven days about a mild traumatic brain injury (MTBI). Our first objective was to evaluate the diagnostic performance of seven tesla MRI runned at seven days after MTBI among patients presenting a PCS.

A Study to Evaluate Efficacy and Safety of Vatiquinone for Treating Mitochondrial Disease in Participants...

Mitochondrial DiseasesDrug Resistant Epilepsy6 more

This is a parallel-arm, double-blind, placebo-controlled study with a screening phase that includes a 28-day run-in phase to establish baseline seizure frequency, followed by a 24-week, randomized, placebo-controlled phase. After completion of the randomized, placebo-controlled phase, participants may enter a 48-week, long-term, extension phase during which they will receive open-label treatment with vatiquinone.

Deep Brain Stimulation in Forel's H Field in Tourette's Syndrome

Tourette Syndrome

Tourette's Syndrome (TS) is a neurodevelopmental disease characterized tics that start before the age of 18 years. About 5% of cases do not respond to drug treatment and can be classified as refractory and in these cases surgical treatment, with deep brain stimulation, appears as a therapeutic possibility, but with still conflicting results. Our hypothesis is that DBS in Forel's H Field could improve tourette's symptoms, neurological and psychiatric ones.

Prevention of Energy Deficit Syndrome in Female Athletes. Molecular Mechanisms Associated With Malnutrition....

Female Athlete TriadEnergy Deficit Syndrome5 more

Energy Deficit Syndrome (RED-S) is the impairment of physiological functioning caused by relative energy deficiency and includes impaired metabolic rate, menstrual, endocrine, hematological, immunological, gastrointestinal, bone, psychological, developmental and cardiovascular function. Eighty-seven percent of athletes show at least one symptom related to RED-S, with a higher prevalence in women. Treatment of RED-S preferably involves a multidisciplinary team of health professionals to address the complex interaction of nutrition, training, body image and performance. The main objective is to prevent energy deficit syndrome in female athletes in the province of Alicante through different training and diet protocols using a virtual platform. A 12-week single-blind randomized clinical trial with an intervention period and a control period (RCT) is proposed. The sports federations of the most representative practices in the province of Alicante will be selected by randomized sampling. The female athletes will be randomly divided into 4 groups (control group; control group with free use of the virtual platform; intervention group with Mediterranean diet and physical exercise planning; intervention group with red fruits and physical exercise planning).
