Immunophenotyping of Blood Cells in the Diagnosis Work-up of Myelodysplastic Syndromes

Myelodysplastic Syndromes

Myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) are a heterogeneous group of hematological malignancies characterized by cytopenia(s), dysplasia in one or more major myeloid cell lines and progression to acute leukemia. Morphological analysis of peripheral blood (PB) and bone marrow (BM) remains the cornerstone of the diagnosis. Preliminary studies identified Flow Cytometry (FC) markers on red cells, platelets and circulating leukocytes that are expressed differently in MDS and in controls. However, these markers have been evaluated separately. The investigators propose to test in a large cohort of patients these markers, and to combine the most relevant ones in order to define a PB FC-based diagnosis score that would discriminate between MDS and non-clonal hematopoiesis and would avoid useless bone marrow samples in elderly

Genomic and Proteomic Study of Richter Syndrome (CGPSR)

Richter Syndrome

Biological study on Richter Syndrome (RS), an agressive lymphoma that arises from Chronic Lymphocytice Leukemia (CLL). RS presents with the same histological aspect as primitive Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma (DLBCL), but is associated with a poor prognosis, due to chemorefractoriness. This study aims at understanding the biological determinants of chemotherapy resistance in Richter Syndrome.

Predicting Nociplastic Pain in Carpal Tunnel Syndrome Through Quantitative Sensory Testing

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

This study aims to investigate the predictive value of quantitative sensory testing (QST) in identifying patients with carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) who are at risk of developing nociplastic pain.

Pediatric Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome Asia Study

Acute Respiratory Distress SyndromePediatric Intensive Care Unit1 more

Mortality rates in children with pediatric acute respiratory distress syndrome (PARDS) are higher in Asia compared to other regions. In adults with acute respiratory distress syndrome, the only therapy that improves mortality rates is a lung protective ventilation strategy. The pediatric ventilation recommendations are extrapolated from evidence in adults, including ventilation with low tidal volume, low peak/plateau pressures and high-end expiratory pressure. A recent retrospective study of ventilation practices in Asia showed varying practices with regards to pulmonary and non-pulmonary therapies, including ventilation. This study aims to determine the prevalence and outcomes of PARDS in the Pediatric Acute and Critical Care Medicine Asian Network (PACCMAN). This study will also determine the use of pulmonary (mechanical ventilation, steroids, neuromuscular blockade, surfactant, pulmonary vasodilators, prone positioning) and non-pulmonary (nutrition, sedation, fluid management, transfusion) PARDS therapies. To achieve this aim, a prospective observational study which involves systematic screening of all pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) admissions and collection of pertinent clinical data will be conducted. Recruitment will be consecutive and follow up will continue to intensive care discharge.

Respiratory Muscle Strength in Patients With Obesity Hypoventilation Syndrome (OHS) or With a Precursor...

Obesity Hypoventilation Syndrome

Using an extensive set of both volitional and non-volitional tests of respiratory muscle function and strength it is the aim of this study to identify potential determinants for the development of obesity hypoventilation to identify predictors for the presence of a sleep-related hypoventilation requiring treatment in obese patients

Posterior Reversible Encephalopathy Syndrome in the Critically Ill Patients

Posterior Reversible Encephalopathy Syndrome

Posterior Reversible Encephalopathy Syndrome prospective (PRES) registry. Data collection using a standardized form : demographic data and data related to the PRES, including circumstances of onset, dates and times of onset and of symptoms control, on-scene clinical findings, clinical and radiological features of PRES, pre-hospital and hospital care providers, timing of antiepileptic, antihypertensive drugs and supportive treatments, results of etiological investigations, cause of PRES, type and dosage of antiepileptic and antihypertensive drugs. Dates and times of EEG monitoring, EEG results, radiological and biological investigations. Outcomes including vital status and Glasgow Outcome Scale score at ICU and hospital discharge, day-90 and 1-year after SE and determined based on data in the ICU and/or neurologist charts and/or patients phone interview

Registry of Patients With Takotsubo Syndrome

Takotsubo CardiomyopathyBroken Heart Syndrome1 more

Takotsubo syndrome is a condition which mimics acute myocardial infarction, and is diagnosed in 1.5% to 2.2% of patients referred to hospital with suspected acute coronary syndrome. It is also known as broken heart syndrome, takotsubo cardiomyopathy, stress cardiomyopathy and apical ballooning cardiomyopathy, among other names. The pathogenesis of this disorder is not well understood. Possible mechanisms include catecholamine excess, coronary artery spasm, microvascular dysfunction, among others. This is a multicenter, nation-wide, observational study of patients who were previously diagnosed with takotsubo syndrome. The investigators aim to use this registry to help plan and carry out further studies and to improve understanding of the pathophysiologic mechanisms of this syndrome. In addition participants will be followed for events, and to monitor quality of life and stress.

Ultrasound Guided - Incisionless Threaded Carpal Tunnel Release

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

The overarching long-term goal is to develop a CTS Treatment Center within the Hand Clinic that offers a variety of established and emerging treatment options in a multidisciplinary program. The ultra-minimally invasive carpal tunnel release would be one component of the program. Furthering the knowledge with regard to ultra-minimally invasive carpal tunnel release outcomes would facilitate the Hand Clinics ability to offer this procedure as a component of individualized care in the CTS Treatment Center to facilitate delivery of the appropriate level of care to the right patient.

Firm Observational Clinical Unicenter Study on Guillain Barré Syndrome

Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS)

The aim of this retrospective observational single-center cohort study is to gain a deeper understanding regarding the frequency, the clinical and electrophysiologic characteristics (e.g., the diagnostic work up), complications, treatment regimes, and their associations with specific courses of disease and outcomes in adult patients with the suspected or proven diagnosis of GBS.
