A total of 40 adolescents diagnosed with PCOS between the ages of 13-18 years were randomized to either a Resmena or control diet for 6 months. Dietary status, anthropometry, body composition, biochemical parameters, and reproductive endocrine hormones were compared between the 2 groups before and after the intervention.

Sanfilippo Syndrome Type CSanfilippo syndrome type C is a ultra rare syndrome with limited available natural history data. This study is planned to document, through retrospective and prospective data collection, syndrome progression in children and young adults with Sanfilippo syndrome type C. The results from this study may inform future clinical studies in targeted therapies for patients with Sanfilippo syndrome type C and may serve as an external control since there are very few patients with Sanfilippo syndrome type C.

Muscle and Activity Level With Components of Metabolic Syndrome
Metabolic SyndromeThe components of MetS (abdominal obesity, high blood pressure, high serum glucose, high triglyceride level and low HDL-C) differ according to demographic characteristics such as age, gender and comorbidities. Low physical activity level, genetic makeup, nutritional disorders, decreased muscle strength and low cardiorespiratory fitness can be counted among the risk factors associated with MetS. In our study, it was aimed to examine the relationship between the components of the MetS and muscle strength, physical activity, functional capacity and quality of life. Our secondary aim is to investigate the independent effects of different components of MetS on each parameter.

Diarrhea-Associated Hemolytic Uremic SyndromePediatric Kidney Disease1 moreHemolytic Uremic Syndrome (HUS) is a foodborne disease which mainly affects children. It is caused by Escherichia coli bacteria, which release a toxin called Shiga toxin within the body. This infectious form of HUS, defined as STEC-HUS, can cause sporadic cases or outbreaks, as observed in different countries. Argentina has the highest incidence of STEC-HUS worldwide. The disease is endemic, representing approximately 95% of all HUS cases nationwide. STEC-HUS generally begins with diarrhea (with or without blood), and can also cause fever, abdominal pain, and cramps. Then the child may have pallor, altered consciousness, decreased urine output, seizures, and other symptoms. Although death is uncommon (it occurs in 2-4% of cases), it is a very serious disease that mainly affects the kidneys, and also other organs such as the brain. About half of children need to undergo a risky procedure such as dialysis (due to malfunctioning kidneys); and most of them also receive blood transfusions. Around 30% of the patients are left with lifelong consequences that can range from permanent kidney damage to the need for a transplant. So far there is no drug, antibiotic or vaccine to prevent or treat HUS. Current treatment protocols include hospitalization for all patients with HUS, and supportive therapy such as hydration and salt intake. Support therapy is not a specific treatment, but rather helps the body better defend itself against the disease. The purpose of this study is to establish whether it is safe and effective to treat patients who are diagnosed with STEC-HUS, with INM004 (study drug). INM004 is an investigational product "Fraction F(ab')2 of Equine Shiga Antitoxin Immunoglobulin". It is a concentrated and sterile serum obtained from healthy horses immunized against Shiga toxin that contains antibodies capable of neutralizing it. The initial hypothesis is that INM004 would neutralize the entry of Shiga toxin into the body's cells thus preventing the consequent toxic damage. With the proposed treatment, INM004 would eliminate the Shiga toxin, preventing the progression of HUS symptoms and its serious complications (such as the need for and duration of dialysis, duration of hospital stays, as well as neurological, cardiovascular, intestinal complications, among others) which are associated with high morbidity and mortality. This treatment could then have an impact in health costs of STEC-HUS as well as the social costs.

Confocal laser endomicroscopy (CLE) is a technique that permits real-time detection and quantification of changes in intestinal tissues and cells, including increases in intraepithelial lymphocytes and fluid extravasation through epithelial leaks. Based on CLE analysis of IBS patients with a suspected food intolerance, exposure to candidate food antigens caused immediate breaks, increased intervillous spaces, and increased IELs in the intestinal mucosa. These changes are associated with patient responses to exclusion diets. Metabolic Syndrome in WomenMetabolic syndrome (MS) is a cluster of metabolic abnormalities that includes hypertension, central obesity, insulin resistance, type 2-diabetes and atherogenic dyslipidaemia (1). A woman's sexual health is associated with several psychological and interpersonal factors, and may be affected by aging and metabolic changes (2). Obesity, hypertension, dyslipidemia, and type 2-diabetes which are conditions frequently present in women with metabolic syndrome are considered risk factors for atherosclerosis and endothelial dysfunction which impairs tissue oxygenation and causes subsequent functional and structural damage to the female genital tract. A decrease in pelvic blood flow secondary to atherosclerotic disease leads to fibrosis of the vaginal wall and clitoral smooth muscle, eventually resulting in vaginal dryness and dyspareunia (3). Women with metabolic syndrome showed higher prevalence of sexual inactivity and low sexual desire, orgasm, satisfaction, and Female sexual function (FSFI) total score in respect to women without metabolic syndrome (4). There is a link between diet and sexual performance markers to get and maintain lubrication, orgasm, and frequency of sex, as food has a favourable or negative impact on sexual activity for both sexes at any age (5). The Mediterranean diet (Med Diet) is one of the most widely described and evaluated dietary patterns in scientific literature. It is based on the traditional foods that people used to eat in countries bordering the Mediterranean Sea, including France, Spain, Greece, and Italy. It is characterized by high intakes of vegetables, legumes, fruits, nuts, grains, fish, seafood, extra virgin olive oil, and a moderate intake of red wine (6). Previous studies proved that Kegel exercise raise the level of sexual satisfaction, as the pelvic floor muscle (PFM) specifically the pubococcygeus and iliococcygeus muscles are responsible for the rhythmic involuntary contractions during orgasm (7). According to the authors' knowledge, no prior research studied the effect of Mediterranean diet on sexual function in women with metabolic syndrome.
