Efficiency Study of Siwu Tang to Treat Brain Hypoperfusion Syndrome

Brain Hypoperfusion SyndromeIschemia Brain

Brain hypoperfusion patients may cause vascular dementia results from their hypoperfusion state except that is a risk factor for stroke. The most common clinical symptom of hypoperfusion syndrome is dizziness.Siwu tang is made of Angelica sinensis (Oliv.) Diels (當歸), Rehmannia glutinosa (Gaertn) Libosch (熟地黃), Paeonia lactiflora Pall (白芍), Ligusticum chuanxiong Hort (川芎), and that was used to treat patients with blood deficiency for several centuries. the purpose of the present study was to investigate the complementary effect of siwu tang on brain hypoperfusion syndrome patients

Perfluorocarbon (PFC) Inhalation Treatment of Acute Lung Injury/Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome...

Respiratory Distress SyndromeAdult1 more

PFCs (perfluorocarbons, PFC), an ideal liquid respiratory media, has special chemical and biological properties, including high solubility of gas, swiftness of carrying and release, low surface tension, high proportion, almost non-absorbing and non-metabolic characteristics in the body. On the basis of the strong animal data suggesting the efficacy of PFC vapor inhalation in models of lung injury, we performed a randomized clinical trial comparing PFC vapor inhalation with conventional mechanical ventilation(CMV)in patients with Acute Lung Injury/Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome(ALI/ARDS). The investigators will apply the Invasive Mechanical Ventilation (IMV) to the vaporized perfluorocarbon inhalation, objectively evaluate its curative effect on the acute respiratory distress syndrome, and meanwhile assess the safety of PFC.

Polycystic Ovary SyndromeEndothelial Dysfunction

The purpose of this study is to assess the effects of ethinylestradiol 30µg-drospirenone combined with metformin and weight loss by means of dietary intervention on the indices of endothelial dysfunction (i.e. flow-mediated dilation and serum endothelin-1), serum hsCRP,lipids, insulin resistance and body composition in young women with PCOS.

Tanshinone in Polycystic Ovary Syndrome

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome

Tanshinone was originally isolated from dried roots of Salvia miltiorrhiza bunge. In Chinese medicine, this herb has been widely prescribed for several pathologies, including diabetes, acne, cardiovascular disease. It has been demonstrated that the therapeutic benefit of cryptotanshinone on prenatally androgenized rats may be mediated by its dual regulation of key molecules during both insulin signaling and androgen synthesis. The purpose of this study is to determine whether tanshinone may prove effective in eradicating Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) symptomatology.

Decitabine for Myelodysplastic Syndromes and Acute Myeloid Leukemia Before Allogeneic Hematopoietic...

Higher-risk Myelodysplastic SyndromeRelapsed /Refractory Acute Myeloid Leukemia

Allogeneic stem cell transplantation (SCT) is the only potentially curative therapy for patients with myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) and acute myeloblastic leukemia (AML). Relapse remains a leading cause for treatment failure after hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT) in patients,so that there is the need to continue to look for alternative therapies. Decitabine, is known to inhibit DNA methyltransferase which results in DNA hypomethylation and expression of silenced genes including those involved in apoptosis. The approval of decitabine for the treatment of MDS and AML has provided an alternative strategy to inhibit disease progression in transplant-eligible patients. To assess the effect of pretransplant decitabine treatment on post transplant outcomes, we recently reviewed our institutional experience with MDS and AML patients.

Prospective Study to Evaluate Outcomes From Transoral BOT Resection for OSAHS

Obstructive Sleep Apnea Hypopnea Syndrome (OSAHS)

This is a prospective observational study that will collect outcome data for patients who choose to undergo transoral tongue base operations for Obstructive Sleep Apnea Hypopnea Syndrome (OSAHS)as part of their standard of care treatment. This is a data collection study only and does not provide for evaluations or treatment of OSAHS.

Telephone Intervention in Patients With Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS) and Diabetes

Type 2 Diabetes MellitusAcute Coronary Syndrome

Hypothesis To investigate whether telephone counselling by nurse educator between clinic visits with particular emphasis on adherence to medications and lifestyle modification in patients with coronary heart disease and diabetes will reduce mortality and hospitalisation rates due to cardiovascular events compared to usual clinic-based care.
