A Screening Protocol to Assess Adults and Adolescents With Down Syndrome for Eligibility For Upcoming...
Down SyndromeThis is a single visit study in which people with Down syndrome aged 12-30 will attend the clinical center to undergo assessments to evaluate their eligibility for potential enrollment in the future BP27832 Phase II clinical study which will evaluate the efficacy, safety and tolerability of RG1662. Study participants may withdraw from this study at any time and for any reason.
Nociceptive Processing in Acute Cutaneous Nerve Entrapment Syndrome
Anterior Cutaneous Nerve Entrapment Syndrome (ACNES)Rationale: Chronic abdominal pain is a frequently occurring condition. Although hardly ever considered, the abdominal wall is the primary cause in 10-30% of cases. Most often it is caused by entrapment of an intercostal nerve in the anterior rectus sheath, the Anterior Cutaneous Nerve Entrapment Syndrome (ACNES). Treatment consists of local anaesthetic injections combined with methyl-prednisolon. When ineffective, a neurectomy at the site of penetration out of the ventral rectus sheet should be considered. This neurectomy however is effective in 73% of cases, leaving some 25% of patients in pain. Whether these refractory ACNES patients suffer from underlying pathologic pain disorders is subject to investigation, by using quantitative sensory testing (QST). Objective: To investigate nociceptive processing and possible underlying pathological pain processing mechanisms in ACNES patients. Study design: An observational case-control study. Study population: Patients treated for ACNES (n = 50) compared to healthy controls from an existing database. Measurements: Quantitative sensory testing (QST) of nociception, performed after treatment of ACNES for both successfully treated and refractory patients in comparison to healthy controls. Visual Analogue Scores (VAS) measured before, during and after testing procedures. Pain Anxiety Symptom Scale (PASS) and Pain Catastrophizing Scale (PCS) questionnaires. Main study parameters: Pressure pain and electrical pain thresholds as investigated by QST. Secondary study parameters are VAS-scores and results of PASS and PCS questionnaires.
Observational Study to Evaluate Neurodevelopmental Status in Pediatric Patients With Hunter Syndrome...
Mucopolysaccharidosis (MPS)Hunter SyndromeHunter syndrome (Mucopolysaccharidosis II, [MPS II]) is a rare, genetically linked lysosomal storage disease (LSD) caused by deficiency of the enzyme, iduronate-2-sulfatase (I2S). Most MPS II patients will present with some degree of neurodevelopmental involvement, ranging from severe cognitive impairment and behavioral problems to mildly impaired cognition. This is an observational study; no investigational treatment will be administered. The primary objective of this study is to evaluate the neurodevelopmental status of pediatric patients with MPS II over time and to gain information to guide future treatment studies in this patient population.
Shared Care Rehabilitation After Acute Coronary Syndrome
Acute Coronary SyndromeMyocardial Ischemia1 moreCardiac rehabilitation is an individual adapted multidisciplinary intervention for people suffering from Heart Disease. It involves; Dietary counseling, Exercise training, Psychosocial support, Physician smoking cessation Patient education The purpose is quick and complete recovery and to reduce the chance of recurrence. In Denmark people admitted with Acute Cardiac Disease is referred to a course of hospital based cardiac rehabilitation at discharge. The Danish Municipal Reform of 2007 changed the responsibility of rehabilitation from the Regions, who runs the hospitals, to the municipalities. Shared care is in this setting that elements of treatment are completed different places in Health Care. The aim of this study is: to establish a shared care model for Cardiac rehabilitation following admission with Acute Coronary Syndrome and to compare this model to the existing hospital based cardiac rehabilitation after admission with Acute Coronary Syndrome. Primary outcome is participation in cardiac rehabilitation.
Validation of Functional Imaging as Predictive Tool for Outcome of Mandibular Replacement Appliance...
Obstructive Sleep Apnea SyndromeIn this open prospective study 40 patients who received Mandibular Replacement Appliance (MRA) Therapy as treatment of Obstructive Sleep Apnea Hypopnea Syndrome (OSAHS) will be included. The patient's sleep will be registered during 2 periods of 2 days: one while the patient does not wear the MRA and, +/- 1 week later, one while the patient wears the MRA. Furthermore, 2 low dose CT scans (one with and one without the MRA device in the mouth) will be taken. These data must allow the investigators to validate the use of functional imaging (segmentation and Computational Fluid Dynamics) as a predictor of the outcome of the MRA therapy in OSAHS patients.
Clopidogrel Reloading in Patients With NSTEACS Undergoing Percutaneous Coronary Intervention on...
Acute Coronary SyndromeMyocardial InfarctionPatients who developed an acute coronary syndrome despite dual antiplatelet therapy with aspirin and clopidogrel may benefit from a further dose of clopidogrel before a percutaneous coronary intervention. The aim of this study is to evaluate safety and effectiveness of clopidogrel reloading in patients on chronic clopidogrel therapy with acute coronary syndrome undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention.
Mean Platelet Volume and TXA2 Levels in Patients With Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS)
Polycystic Ovary SyndromePolycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS)is closely associated with insulin resistance and hyperinsulinemia as well as with increased incidence in diabetes, hypertension, dyslipidemia and atherosclerosis. Indeed, subjects with PCOS were reported to carry an increased long-term cardiovascular risk, among others. Aiming to correlate the mean platelet volume, the thromboxane A2 level and the PCOS, an observational study was planned. Clinical evaluation of metabolic outcomes in PCOS patients is compared to a placebo group.
Vascular Impact of Omega-3 in Metabolic Syndrome
Essential HypertensionMetabolic SyndromeThe overall aims of the present project are to investigate the impact of a nutritional approach based on omega-3 from vegetal origin on vascular function in hypertension associated with metabolic syndrome.
Lung Ultrasound to Diagnose Transient Tachypnea of the Newborn (TTN) Versus Respiratory Distress...
Transient Tachypnea of the NewbornTTN2 moreThe investigators hypothesize that ultrasonography of the newborn lung can be used as an effective diagnostic tool in neonates ≥ 28 weeks gestation with early symptoms of respiratory distress.
The Pathogenesis of Terson Syndrome and the Role of CSF Tau / Amyloid-ß 40 and 42 in Patients With...
Subarachnoid HemorrhageTerson Syndrome1 moreProspective clinical study to investigate the pathogenesis of Terson syndrome and the prognostic value of the CSF-biomarkers tau-protein and amyloid-β 40 and 42 in patients with aneurysmatic subarachnoid hemorrhage. Our two hypotheses are as follows: The incidence of Terson syndrome correlates with the initial intracranial opening pressure (measured with extra ventricular drain) The CSF-biomarkers correlate with the outcome assessed at discharge, 3-, 6- and 12-months postictally using Glasgow-Outcome-Scale-Extended (GOSE) and Euro-Qol-5 as well as with complications related to aneurysmatic subarachnoid hemorrhage such as cerebral vasospasm, delayed cerebral ischemia and re-bleed.
