Trajectory of Positive Psychological States in Patients With ACS

Acute Coronary Syndrome

The purpose of the study is to to determine the natural history of positive psychological states, health status, and functioning, over an 8 week period following admission for an acute coronary syndrome (ACS). We aim to compare the changes in these factors from baseline to 8-week follow-up with corresponding changes in the completed proof-of-concept intervention trial (NCT02004158).

Value of Flow Cytometry in Infectious Point of Care: Feasibility Study

A Potential Infectious Respiratory Clinical SyndromePotential Clinical Urinary Infectious Syndrome1 more

The purpose of this project is to validate the diagnostic orientation properties of two new biomarkers (CD64, CD169) for patients with infectious syndromes arriving in emergency departments. This prospective observational study will focus on the quantification of these biomarkers on a hematology tube background (Pr Morange laboratory) without modifying the usual diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. The results of these assays will be compared with the diagnoses made at the end of treatment in order to determine their sensitivity and specificity. This study is the preliminary study, necessary to determine the detection characteristics of these biomarkers.

Internal and Predictive Validity of Epworth Sleepiness Scale to Evaluate Vigilance of Patient Treated...

Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndrome

Presently, there isn't any international recommendation to evaluate vigilance in Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndrome. The French Society of Sleep Research and Medicine (SFRMS) recommend evaluating professional driver with a MWT but no recommendation exists for other patients. After a minimal treatment of 4 weeks, the physician has to evaluate the drowsiness risk of these patients using either an objective test like the MWT or a subjective one. In the university hospital Amiens-Picardie, since the 01/01/2015, every patient with an Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndrome diagnosed by a polysomnography or a ventilatory polygraphy had a MWT after 4 weeks of treatment. At each time of the evaluation, Epworth Sleepiness Scale, tiredness score of Pichot, and depressive score of Beck are performed.

Indicators of Growth, Nutritional Status and Comorbide Disorders of Newborns With Down Syndrome...

Objective To access predictive values of the auxological parameters and indexes for risk of comorbid malformations in newborns with Down syndrome (DS) Study design In this cohort retrospective study, 141 newborns with proven trisomy 21 born at the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics of the University of Split Hospital (1990 to 2015) were included. The data were obtained from the medical histories of mothers, infants and the delivery protocol. The objective was to access predictive values of the auxological parameters and indexes for risk of comorbid malformations in newborns with Down syndrome (DS) Conclusion Higher CI were found in hyportrophic (SGA) newborns with DS and indicated their intrauterine growth restriction with brain sparing and increased further risk of severe psychomotor retardation. The SGA newborns have lower parameters and indexes of nutritive status and significantly differed from eutrophic and hypertrophic newborns. These SGA newborns with DS have increased developmental risks and that requires further diagnostic attention.

Study of Arterial Properties by Ultra-high Frequency Ultrasound in Fibromuscular Dysplasia and Vascular...

Ehlers-Danlos SyndromeFibromuscular Dysplasia

Ultra-high frequency ultrasound may be useful in the field of vascular research, given its ability to accurately characterize arterial wall thickness and ultrastructure. In patients with fibromuscular dysplasia (FMD), it may help identify the "triple signal" pattern in carotid arterial wall, while in Vascular Ehlers Danlos Syndrome (V-EDS) it may help to accurately measure carotid intima-media thickness, which may be extremely small and difficult to measure with standard equipment. Furthermore, novel features might be identified in small-to-medium sized arteries by ultra-high frequency ultrasound. The main aim of this study is to demonstrate that ultra-high frequency ultrasound has the same accuracy of standard ultrasound for the identification of "triple signal" in the carotid artery of FMD. Secondary aims of this study are to evaluate carotid, radial and digital intima-media thickness, wall ultrastructure and distensibility in 60 patients with FMD and in 30 patients with V-EDS.

Intracoronary Features in the Prognosis of Endothelial Dysfunction and MACES in Population With...

Endothelial DysfunctionCardiovascular Risk Factor2 more

Coronary Artery Disease (CAD) is common in Mexico, while morbidity and mortality is high. Drug therapy can relieve angina pain and stabilize plaque, but it is not able to re-flow a coronary artery. Balloon angioplasty and/or stent placement, re-establishes coronary blood flow; however, the risk of re-stenosis and/or development of new coronary events remains latent. Endothelial damage, reflected by the degree of endothelial dysfunction, inflammation and oxidative stress, promotes atherogenesis, which plays a central role in the pathophysiology of CAD. These mechanisms have been studied in animal models; however, it is widely unknown whether it influences the coronary circulation in humans. Therefore the present study explores the impact of an intracoronary profile of biomarkers of endothelial dysfunction, inflammation and oxidative stress on the prognosis of coronary remodeling and new adverse cardiovascular events in patients with chronic stable coronary syndrome undergoing angioplasty and stent placement.
