Quadriceps Muscle Contractile Properties and Functional Performance

Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome

The aim of this study is to investigate the association between tensiomyography parameters (from rectus femoris, vastus lateralis and vastus medialis) and functional abilities in runners with patellofemoral pain syndrome.

LARS for Chinese Patients

Incidence and Risk Factors of Low Anterior Resection Syndrome

Low anterior resection syndrome (LARS) frequently occurs in patients undergoing low anterior resection (LAR). However, the incidence, exact mechanism and risk factors of major LARS largely variate in different studies. Considering varieties and differences of patient characteristics between Chinese patients and the western ones, this retrospective study aims to investigate the incidence of LARS in Chinese patients undergoing laparoscopic LAR, and to explore perioperative risk factors that might be associated with major LARS. Consequent patients undergoing laparoscopic LAR and free from disease recurrence from January 2015 to May 2021 were issued with LARS questionnaire. Incidence of LARS and patient data were collected and analyzed.

Shearwave Elastography in the Evaluation of Iliotibial Band Syndrome

Iliotibial Band Syndrome

Iliotibial band syndrome (ITBS) is a condition frequently treated in physiotherapy. The pathophysiology underlying this syndrome is still poorly understood. Ultrasound makes it possible to evaluate the morphology and to quantify, with sonoelastography (SWE), the stiffness of the iliotibial band (ITB). The objective is to determine the feasibility of a cross-sectional study aimed at evaluating the morphometry and stiffness of the ITB in runners with and without a diagnosis of ITBS. Socio-demographic and clinical data will be collected and ultrasound measurements (thickness and stiffness) of the iliotibial band will be performed in supine with the knee positioned at 2 different angles (0° and 30° flexion). Variables such as the recruitment rate/month, the inclusion/exclusion rate, the acceptability of the procedure will be used to characterize the feasibility. The relationship between ultrasound measurements and clinical outcomes will be explored. The results obtained will document feasibility issues and provide preliminary results will lay the groundwork for a large scale study.

Prevalence of Myofascial Pain Syndrome in Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis

Scoliosis; AdolescenceMyofascial Pain Syndrome3 more

this is an observational and cross-sectional prevalence study. 10-18 years aged participants with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis were recruited in the study. Myofascial pain syndrome will be questioned to the participants. additionally, all participants will be evaluated using their findings for scoliosis and myofascial pain syndrome diagnostic criteria. Cobb angle, coronal balance, shoulder and pelvis asymmetry, sagittal spino-pelvic parameters of the spine (cervical lordosis, thoracic kyphosis, lumbar lordosis angles and sagittal vertical axis, sacral slop angle and pelvic incidence) will be measured.

Urdu Version of Kujala Questionnaire: A Reliability and Validity Study

Patellofemoral Pain SyndromeAnterior Knee Pain Syndrome

The aim of this research is to interpret and make Kujala Questionnaire adaptable culturally into Urdu to investigate its validity and reliability in Pakistani population among anterior knee pain or patello femoral knee pain. Also check its correlation with 36-Item Short Form Health Survey questionnaire, Lysholm Knee Scoring Scale and 2000 International Knee Documentation Committee Subjective Knee Evaluation Form.

Validity of an App to Detect Frailty and Sarcopenia Syndromes in Elderly

SarcopeniaFrailty Syndrome3 more

Frailty and sarcopenia are two age-related syndromes which can result in adverse health-related events. The combination of both is more predictive of mortality than either condition alone. These conditions can be reversed through an early detection and appropriate interventions. Nevertheless, scientific community highlights the lack of cheap, portable, rapid and easy-to-use tools for detecting frailty and sarcopenia in combination. The aim of this study is to validate an iPhone App to detect frailty and sarcopenia syndromes in community dwelling older adults. This is a protocol study of a retrospective diagnostic test accuracy study which will include at least 400 participants older than 60 years recruited from elderly social centers of Murcia city. Researchers will recollect data of health status, dependency, cognitive status, and functional capacity of the participants. The index test will consist in the measurement of muscle power exerted during a single Sit-to-stand through an App (iPhone), combined with calf and mid-upper arm circumference. The reference standard will be frailty syndrome and sarcopenia assessed according to Fried's phenotype and to the European Working Group on Sarcopenia in Older People 2 (EWGSOP2) (2019) recommendations, respectively. Sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, negative predictive values, and area under the curve will be reported.

To Compare "Balloon Occluded Thrombolysis" With "Conventional Catheter Directed Thrombolysis" in...

Budd-Chiari Syndrome

DIPSS has become a widely accepted treatment for complications of portal hypertension. Shunt or hepatic vein stenosis are common short and mid term complications of the procedure. When identified early, shunt stenosis or occlusion may be treated before recurrence of the symptoms for which DIPSS was done at the first place. Present day endovascular DIPSS revision techniques have significantly improved the primary assisted patency rates. The purpose of this study is to understand the newer technique of Combined balloon occlusion thrombolysis and intra stent balloon sweeping being practiced at our institute and compare it with the widely used conventional thrombolytic methods.
