Metabolic Syndrome and Contrast Induced Nephropathy

Contrast Induced NephropathyMetabolic Syndrome

Prevention of contrast induced nephropathy after interventional cardiologic procedures deserves close interest because of its association with prolonged hospitalization, increased cost and increased in hospital and long term mortality rates. An observational prospective cohort study was designed to determine whether metabolic syndrome predicts the development of contrast induced nephropathy after elective percutaneous coronary intervention.

EValuation of REsidual Platelet REactivity After Acute Coronary Syndrome (ST+/ST-) in HIV

Acute Coronary SyndromeHIV

Elevated on-treatment platelet reactivity is an independent risk factor of major adverse cardiovascular events following percutaneous coronary intervention or ACS. People living with HIV patients have a higher risk of recurrent events after ACS than people without HIV. The investigators hypothesized that this increased risk is driven by higher platelet reactivity. Using a nested case-control study design, HIV-infected and HIV-uninfected patients with a first episode of Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS) treated with percutaneous coronary intervention were matched for age, sex, known diabetes mellitus and anti-platelet therapy. The primary end-point was the residual platelet reactivity (RPA) on dual antiplatelet therapy assessed by light transmission aggregometry (LTA, 20µM ADP). The study was conducted in a two large public university hospitals in central Paris, France.

SNP-based Microdeletion and Aneuploidy RegisTry (SMART)

22q11 Deletion SyndromeDiGeorge Syndrome9 more

This multi-center prospective observational study is designed to track birth outcomes and perinatal correlates to the Panorama prenatal screening test in the general population among ten thousand women who present clinically and elect Panorama microdeletion and aneuploidy screening as part of their routine care. The primary objective is to evaluate the performance of Single Nucleotide Polymorphism (SNP)-based Non Invasive Prenatal Testing (NIPT) for 22q11.2 microdeletion (DiGeorge syndrome) in this large cohort of pregnant women. This will be done by performing a review of perinatal medical records and obtaining biospecimens after birth to perform genetic diagnostic testing for 22q11.2 deletion. Results from the follow-up specimens will be compared to those obtained by the Panorama screening test to determine test performance. Specific test performance parameters will include: PPV, specificity, and sensitivity.

BÜHLMANN fCAL™ ELISA - Aid in Differentiation of IBD From IBS

Inflammatory Bowel DiseaseIrritable Bowel Syndrome

The purpose of this study is to confirm the sensitivity and specificity of the BÜHLMANN fCAL™ ELISA as an aid in diagnosis to differentiate between Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD; Crohn's Disease (CD), Ulcerative Colitis (UC), or indeterminate colitis) and Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). To estimate the predictive value of a positive test (positive predictive value (PPV)) and the predictive value of a negative test (Negative Predictive Value (NPV)) using the proposed test outcomes for BÜHLMANN Calprotectin Test results when used in patients referred for diagnostic evaluation with signs and symptoms suggestive of either IBS or IBD. To confirm the inter-laboratory consistency of test results for the BÜHLMANN fCAL™ ELISA. To provide exploratory observations of test results in patients between the age of 2 and 21 years. To provide a sample set from normal subjects with no symptoms or signs of gastrointestinal disease for use in Expected Value Testing.

Evaluation of Liver Fibrosis in HIV-infected Patients With Metabolic Syndrome

Abdominal Obesity Metabolic SyndromeHIV1 more

This study aims to estimate the prevalence of bridging liver fibrosis and cirrhosis (METAVIR score ≥ F2) according to METAVIR score in HIV infected patients not chronically infected by viral hepatitis but exhibiting a metabolic syndrome according to the IDF definition (International Diabetes Foundation).

Prevalence of Lipodystrophy Syndrome and Its Role as Cause of Metabolic Disturbances

LipodystrophyMetabolic Syndrome

To evaluate the prevalence of lipodystrophy syndrome in patients receiving currently available antiretroviral drugs, and the prevalence of associated metabolic syndrome in HIV-infected patients with a previous diagnosis of lipodystrophy syndrome, according to the severity of fat accumulation and antiretroviral drug use.

Dravet SyndromeEpileptic Encephalopathies Associated With SCN1A Mutations

This is an expanded access use of Stiripentol in Dravet Syndrome or epileptic encephalopathies associated with sodium channel mutations who have failed other drugs in an effort to give them the best chance at seizure control and quality of life. As a treatment protocol and not a research study, children will only be monitored on a clinical basis for seizure improvement and side effects predominantly by parent and caregiver report.

Immunity Against AAV in Crigler Najjar Patient

Crigler Najjar Syndrome

The proposed research protocol aims at addressing these points by pre-screening CN patients for their AAV serology in link with their medical history and current medical status. A first objective is to assess the presence of neutralizing AAV antibodies in the serum of CN patients.
