Treatment and Management of Women With Bleeding Disorders

MenorrhagiaBlood Coagulation Disorders3 more

The purpose of the study is to determine whether oral contraceptives, desmopressin acetate, and/or tranexamic acid are effective in the treatment of women with menorrhagia who are diagnosed with a bleeding disorder.

Avatrombopag for the Treatment of Thrombocytopenia After Donor Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant...

Platelet Disorder

This phase II trial studies the side effects and how well avatrombopag works for the treatment of thrombocytopenia after donor hematopoietic stem cell transplant. Thrombocytopenia is defined as abnormally low level of platelets in the blood. Avatrombopag is a small molecule thrombopoietin receptor agonist which stimulates thrombopoietin receptor leading to increase production of platelets.

Towards Improved Diagnostics for Suspected Platelet Function Disorders

Platelet Function DisorderPlatelet Disorder1 more

This study aims to improve platelet function testing during bleeding investigations. To this end, the study will evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of novel platelet function tests in patients with confirmed or suspected platelet function disorders. Study participants will be recruited from patients that are referred to or treated at the Coagulation Unit, Karolinska University Hospital, and Pediatric Coagulation Unit, Astrid Lingren Children's Hospital.

Does An Abnormal PFA 100 Predict Bleeding After Renal Biopsy?

Kidney FailureAcute4 more

The kidneys are highly vascular organs and any trauma or surgery poses risk of severe bleeding. Platelet function is an integral part of the blood clotting during the initial, so-called vascular phase. So far no universally accepted, easy test has been available to measure platelet functions. Renal failure is a condition generally associated with bleeding due to platelet dysfunctions. This study is exploring the utility of a novel platelet function test, called Platelet Function Analyser-100 to predict bleed after percutaneous kidney biopsy. Platelet Function Analyser-100 will be measure before kidney biopsy along with routine blood tests. Subjects will undergo renal ultrasound before and after renal biopsy to verify post-biopsy bleeding events.

Assesment of the Functional Activity of Platelets for the Differential Diagnosis of Thrombocytopathies...

Immune ThrombocytopeniaThrombocytopathy2 more

The purpose of this study is to develop a highly sensitive method for assessing the functional activity of platelets for use in the differential diagnosis of thrombocytopenia and platelet defects.

Reversal of Dual Antiplatelet Therapy With Cold Stored Platelets

BleedingPlatelet Dysfunction Due to Drugs1 more

This study aims to determine whether cold-stored platelets (CSP) are equally, more effective, or uniquely effective at reversing the effect of dual antiplatelet therapy in healthy human subjects compared to room-temperature-stored platelets (RTP). The investigators plan to enroll healthy human subjects without risk factors for bleeding to achieve 60 complete data sets. Each subject will donate two apheresis platelet units. One platelet unit will be stored in the cold (CSP) and one platelet unit will be stored at room temperature (RTP). Subjects will be given dual anti-platelet therapy (aspirin and clopidogrel) prior to autologous transfusion of each unit. Platelet function testing will be performed before and after transfusion to measure reversal of the antiplatelet drugs.

Comparison of the Effects of Gelatine Versus Balanced Crystalloid Solution for Volume Therapy

HemorrhageSurgical3 more

The purpose of the study is to determine whether volume therapy with a solution of gelatine has negative impact on coagulation, platelet function, renal function in comparison with crystaloid solution (Ringerfundin).

Study of AggreGuide A-100 (ADP) Assay

Risk FactorCardiovascular1 more

Study to evaluate the performance of the AggreGuide A-100 ADP assay for detection of platelet dysfunction caused by P2Y12 inhibitor antiplatelet therapy.

Subclinical Impairment of Cardiovascular System in Patients With Psoriasis

PsoriasisInflammation5 more

A cross-sectional study will be conducted, which will include 80 young patients with psoriasis, aged 30-45 years, treated with five different types of antipsoriatic treatment, and 20 healthy patients. All 100 subjects will be subjected to anthropometric measurements, blood will be collected for laboratory tests, and an imaging test will be performed to determine the function of the endothelium and arterial stiffness. The results will then be statistically analyzed.
