TraumaResearch project entitled "The experience of relational trauma as an important etiological factor of neurotic and/or personality disorders. The 4FM Acceptance training as a new form of therapy for these disorders" assumes the following goals: validation of the Polish version of the International Trauma Questionnaire (ITQ); assessment of prevalence of relational trauma among adult psychiatric patients hospitalized at the Institute of Psychiatry and Neurology; development a new therapeutic intervention - 4FM Acceptance training - based on the methodology of the Existential Analysis; assessment of the impact of the 4FM Acceptance training among patients with cPTSD. The original therapeutic intervention - 4FM Acceptance training - will be developed based on the methodological assumptions of the 4 Fundamental Motivations (4FM) in the Existential Analysis methodology, developed by Alfried Längle, student of Viktor Frankl, a representative of the Existential Psychology, together with other important representatives, i.e. Rollo May, Irvin Yalom and in Poland prof. Antoni Kępiński.

Traumatic Brain InjuryTraumatic brain injury (TBI) continues to be a major cause of death and disability throughout the world. The reduced cerebral blood flow secondary to the direct trauma-induced damage deregulates cerebral metabolism and depletes energy stores within the brain. Diffusion barriers to the cellular delivery of oxygen develop and persist. Besides, TBI often leads to intracranial hypertension, which in turn exacerbates diffusion disorders, further reducing cerebral oxygenation, and deteriorates the injury. By increasing the partial pressure of oxygen in blood, reducing intracranial pressure and cerebral edema, Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBO2) has been used in early treatment of TBI. However, due to the different severity of TBI, the clinical situation of early insult is complex and unpredictable, ordinarily there was a time delay between TBI and onset of HBO2 treatment averaging more than 2 weeks, especially in patients with severe TBI. Whether the delayed intervention is still effective is controversial.

The investigators aim to identify individuals with chronic electronic nicotine delivery device (ENDD) exposure and matched controls within our ongoing cohort of HIV+ and HIV-uninfected individuals, collect PFT data, bank respiratory and stool samples and collect clinical data for studies of clinical risk, inflammation, biomarkers, and the microbiome in the identification and modification of risk of progression to lung injury or chronic pulmonary disease.

Anterior Cruciate LigamentInjuriesAnterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries are among the most common knee ligament injuries, causing joint instability and impairments. Besides being challenging, this type of injury greatly affects the athlete's passion and wellbeing, and it is associated with several risk factors. Injuries to the ACL are estimated to occur within 80,000 to 250,000 young, active and healthy athletes each year. This cross-sectional observational study aimed at translating, adapting cross-culturally, and investigating the psychometric properties of the Marx Activity Rating Scale (MARS) and the Knee Stability in Sports/Cutting-Pivoting Ability (KSS/CPA) scale in Saudi patients with anterior cruciate ligament injuries. For this study, a convenient sample size of 100 athletes with ACL injuries and healthy participants will be selected from different Saudi hospitals and clubs. Study participants will be informed about the study and a consent form will be obtained before they participate. A number of scales will be used as outcome measures, including the MARS, KSS/CPA scale, Knee Injury, and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score, Lysholm Knee Score, and International Knee Documentation Committee Subjective Knee Form. Internal consistency of both the MARS and KSS/CPA scales will be tested using Cronbach's alpha. A construct's validity will be measured by Spearman's correlation coefficient. Content validity can be determined by examining whether there are floor and ceiling effects. A significance level of 0.05 will be used to determine whether the data is significant. Ultimately, the study will help patients with ACL injuries to make informed decisions about their treatment, empower healthcare professionals to understand patients' concerns, and facilitate research.

Ketamine in Severe Traumatic Brain Injury
Traumatic Brain InjuryTraumatic EncephalopathyTraumatic brain injury (TBI) accounts for approximately 2.5 million visits to emergency departments in the United States each year. After decades of research, management strategies for severe TBI (sTBI) patients are still evolving. Optimizing intracranial pressure (ICP) and cerebral perfusion pressure (CPP) are paramount in the management of these patients and placement of these monitors is the current standard-of-care. However, monitoring brain oxygenation (PbtO2) with invasive intraparenchymal monitors is currently under investigation in the management of severe TBI and placement of these monitors is gaining widespread use. This has opened the door for the use of tiered therapy to optimize ICP and PbtO2 simultaneously. Current evidence indicates that correction of ICP, CPP and PbtO2 in sTBI requires optimized analgesia and sedation. Ketamine is one of the few drugs available that has both sedative and analgesic properties and does not commonly compromise respiratory drive like opioids and sedative-hypnotics. However, traditionally, ketamine has been viewed as contraindicated in the setting of TBI due to concerns for elevation in ICP. Yet, new data has cast this long-held assumption into significant doubt. Hence the present pilot study will characterize the neurophysiological response to a single dose of ketamine in critically-ill TBI patient with ICP and PbtO2 monitoring.
