Terrorism is an issue of global concern, and reintegrating repentant terrorists, including their families, has often proved challenging considering the damages done by the terrorist group. Despite Boko Haram atrocities in Nigeria, the focus seems directed toward the repentant terrorists with limited attention to the communities, the trauma they suffered, and their involvement in the design of reintegration programmes. There is also limited community awareness of legal support channels to foster positive reintegration (Ike et al., 2021). The implication is that it risks undermining the social context that informs successful reintegration, improves acceptance, and reduces reoffending. However, there appears to be limited research on this important policy problem in Nigeria. Our study proposes to fill this gap by contributing to the research initiative through a novel cross-disciplinary intervention drawing on law and psychology entitled Legal Education plus Trauma-informed Therapy (LETiT) to improve community acceptance and reintegration of repentant terrorists in Nigeria.

Personalized Nutrition to Improve Recovery in Trauma

Abdominal Trauma

The purpose of this study is to determine if a particular method of providing nutrition improves the outcomes of patients in the intensive care unit (ICU) who have undergone abdominal surgery following trauma and would require nutrition delivered via the bloodstream (called total parenteral nutrition or TPN). The nutrition method being tested is a structured nutrition delivery plan, called the SeND Home pathway, that involves TPN, oral nutrition supplements, and the use of a device (called an indirect calorimeter or IC) to measure calorie needs. Participants will be randomly assigned (like the flip of a coin) to the SeND Home program or standard of care nutrition. In the SeND Home program, participants will receive TPN, followed by oral nutrition supplements (shakes) for 4 weeks after discharge. The control group will follow standard of care nutrition delivery that begins during ICU stay and concludes at hospital discharge. Participants in both groups will undergo non-invasive tests that measure how much energy (calories) they are using, body composition, and muscle mass and complete walking and strength tests, and surveys about quality of life.

With this prospective double-blinded, placebo controlled clinical trial we hypothesize that immediate (post-injury) intervention with Fluoxetine will prevent/mitigate the development of negative psychiatric symptomology such as PTSD and depression for victims of bodily trauma. We also hypothesize that immediate use of Fluoxetine will decrease subjects' pain, pain interference and opioid use without changing our standard of care post-injury pain medication regimen. Enrolled subjects will be randomized to Fluoxetine or placebo at their index hospitalization.

Personalized Brain Stimulation to Treat Chronic Concussive Symptoms

The goal of this study is to investigate a new treatment for chronic symptoms after concussion or mild traumatic brain injury in people aged 18-65 years old. Chronic symptoms could include dizziness, headache, fatigue, brain fog, memory difficulty, sleep disruption, irritability, or anxiety that occurred or worsened after the injury. These symptoms can interfere with daily functioning, causing difficulty returning to physical activity, work, or school. Previous concussion therapies have not been personalized nor involved direct treatments to the brain itself. The treatment being tested in the present study is a noninvasive, personalized form of brain stimulation, called transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS). The investigators intend to answer the questions: Does personalized TMS improve brain connectivity after concussion? Does personalized TMS improve avoidance behaviors and chronic concussive symptoms? Do the improvements last up to 2 months post-treatment? Are there predictors of treatment response, or who might respond the best? Participants will undergo 14 total visits to University of California Los Angeles (UCLA): One for the baseline symptom assessments and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) Ten for TMS administration Three for post-treatment symptom assessments and MRIs Participants will have a 66% chance of being assigned to an active TMS group and 33% chance of being assigned to a sham, or inactive, TMS group. The difference is that the active TMS is more likely to cause functional changes in the brain than the inactive TMS.

The main aim is to determine whether a gait retraining intervention will improve the strength of the foot-ankle muscle, the running economy and reduce the injury incidence in a one-year follow-up study. The secondary aim is to seek whether a minimal foot-ankle strength is necessary to reduce the risk to sustain to a running-related-injury to transit toward a forefoot strike pattern or toward a minimalist footwear for an endurance runner. Participants will be assessed at baseline, at 2 month follow-up, at 6 month follow-up and at 12 month follow-up. Assessment will be composed by questionnaires, a foot screening, maximal voluntary isometric strength of foot-ankle muscle with hand held dynamometer. Then, participants will run on a treadmill at self-paced and at 10 km/h with to measure their running economy and their footstrike pattern. In function of their distribution, participants will receive either nothing (control group) or minimalist footwear or a training to modify their footstrike pattern toward a more forefoot strike.

All patients who met the inclusion criteria and agreed to participate in the study underwent baseline capsule endoscopy. Patients with intestinal mucosal injury detected during the initial capsule endoscopy were randomly divided into isoladin maleate group or magnesium aluminum carbonate control group using computer-generated random numbers. Patients in the isoladine maleate group received 4 mg isoladine maleate (Gesellon, Japan) every morning for 4 weeks (or 8 weeks, duration to be determined); Magnesium aluminum carbonate control group received 1 g magnesium aluminum carbonate every morning, afternoon and evening for 4 weeks (or 8 weeks, course to be determined). After treatment, capsule endoscopy was performed again to evaluate the healing of intestinal mucosa.

90 patients who suffer from chronic fatigue syndrome and postural imbalance following Lower Limb Burn Injury. will be selected from outpatient clinic, faculty of physical therapy, Cairo university. Patients will be assigned randomly into 3 groups of equal numbers, group A: (Study group A) will receive Baduanjin Qigong exercise plus selected exercise program. group B:(Study group B) will receive Baduanjin Qigong exercise, Group C (control group C) will receive selected exercise program .
