Assistive ExoSkeletons to Enable Wearable Rehabilitation Robotics

Diabetic Foot UlcerDiabetic Foot Ulcer Associated With Type II Diabetes Mellitus

Study will evaluate the use of lower-limb assistive exo-skeletons worn on the ankle and foot. Participants will wear the exo-skeletons and walk in a safe environment. Measurements will be taken to determine how the exo-skeletons affect the pressure on the feet of people with diabetic foot ulcer and how they walk.

Wound Powder for Pressure Ulcers at End-of-life

Pressure UlcerWounds

This study will test a special powder for ulcers caused by a variety of conditions such as pressure that sometimes happen when a person is at the end of life. The powder will be applied to these ulcers to see if it helps with pain, odor and drainage (leakage). People who are being cared for by hospice or palliative care organizations will be invited to be in the study. The study will also find out if the powder is easy to use by caregivers as well as improving the comfort and quality of life of the person who has the ulcer.

Effect of Naproxen, Aspirin, Celecoxib, or Clopidogrel on the Healing of Stomach and Intestinal...

Gastroduodenal Ulcer

Gastroduodenal ulcers are extremely common in the community today. Though much has been written and observed concerning how ulcers form, not much has been described in the human model concerning how these ulcers heal. As numerous patients already suffer from gastrointestinal ulcers, further clarification of ulcer healing would be valuable in the treatment and management of these patients. The goal of this study is to investigate the effects of naproxen, aspirin, celecoxib, and clopidogrel on biopsy-induced gastroduodenal lesions in order to elucidate the mechanisms of ulcer healing. This single site, single-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled, one-week prospective study will examine ulcer healing through endoscopic, immunohistologic, and molecular PCR modalities.

Wireless Capsule Endoscopy in Ulcerative Colitis

Ulcerative Colitis

Based on the inaccuracies of the current classification scheme for inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), the failure of surgical pouches and the findings of retrospective observational trials to date, we hypothesize that a significant proportion of patients with UC will have small bowel involvement that will result in a change in diagnosis to CD or the recognition of a new phenotype of IBD. The aim of this study is to determine the prevalence of small bowel pathology in patients diagnosed with UC using WCE. This information will aid in the current efforts to re-classify IBD using improved endoscopic and imaging technologies, genetic information and serologic information.

Plasma and Scarring of Diabetic Ulcers

Chronic Skin UlcerDiabetic Foot1 more

Diabetic foot is defined by World Health Organization as a syndrome in which the presence of neuropathy, ischemia and infection cause tissue damage or ulcers from minor trauma. This condition can be controlled in its early stages with conservative treatment, which is effective in preventing infections and amputations. However, even with the new knowledge acquired and the development of new therapies, the specialist often faces wounds that do not improve despite the proper treatment, so therapies have been sought to help the healing of these Ulcers. Growing evidence suggests that healing of chronic diabetic foot ulcers depends on growth factors and that the therapeutic use of these in wounds has the potential to accelerate their healing in conjunction with wound care Conventional. This study evaluates the effect of plasma rich in autologous growth factors on healing chronic ulcers of diabetic origin. This is a randomized clinical trial that evaluates two study groups. Control group in which advanced weekly healing will be performed while the post-advanced healing study group will be performed the intradermal application of plasma rich in growth factors. These manoeuvres will be performed once a week for four weeks and at the end of the study the results in both groups will be checked. Both groups will also evaluate, frequency and intensity of pain, quality of life, histological changes in ulcers and metabolic evaluation
