Oral Iron vs. Placebo in Newly Diagnosed Gynecologic Oncology Patients Who Are Surgical Candidates....
Ovarian CancerCervical Cancer2 moreThe prevalence of anemia in gynecologic oncology new patients has been seen in previous studies to be as high as 35-59%. this population includes women with several types of gynecologic malignancies. Therefore, it is assumed that the origin of the anemia can be due to anemia of chronic disease and iron deficiency anemia. No previous studies have looked at the efficacy of oral iron supplementation with concurrent Vitamin C in women with newly diagnosed gynecologic malignancies. Hypothesis: In newly diagnosed gynecologic oncology patients who are surgical candidates does treatment with 3-6 weeks of oral ferrous fumarate 300 mg once a day improve the mean change in hemoglobin levels, from baseline to pre-operative, in comparison to placebo.
Self-Testing Options in the Era of Primary HPV Screening for Cervical Cancer Trial
Uterine Cervical NeoplasmUterine Neoplasms13 moreThe Self-Testing options in the Era of Primary HPV screening for cervical cancer (STEP) trial will evaluate effectiveness of home-based HPV kits for improving cervical cancer screening uptake and its cost-effectiveness. The investigators will compare cervical cancer screening uptake within six months among women randomized to different outreach approaches based on prior screening behavior: A) Adherent and coming due: direct mail HPV kit vs. opt-in HPV kit vs. education; B) Overdue: direct mail HPV kit vs. education; C) Unknown: opt-in HPV kit vs. education.
Supportive Programs for Supporting Optimal Recovery in Participants Undergoing Gynecological Surgery...
Ovarian NeoplasmUterine NeoplasmThis trial studies how well two different supportive programs work in supporting optimal recovery in participants undergoing gynecological surgery. Supportive programs use different methods for helping participants cope with the surgical experience including gentle movements, counseling, writing, or relaxation techniques, and may help improve participants' well-being after gynecological surgery.
The Effects of Perioperative Dexmedetomidine Administration on Immune Suppression and Outcomes in...
Uterine CancerSurgical stress and anesthesia may cause immunosuppression in immunocompromised cancer patients. The natural killer (NK) cell is a critical part of anti-tumor immunity. Dexmedetomidine has sympatholytic effect and preserves NK cell function. This study investigate the effect of dexmedetomidine on immune suppression and postoperative outcomes in patients undergoing uterine cancer resection.

Female Reproductive System NeoplasmMalignant Female Reproductive System Neoplasm5 moreThis trial determines how well eHealth mindful movement and breathing works to improve outcomes in participants undergoing gynecologic surgery. Supportive therapy, such as eHealth mindful movement and breathing, uses techniques that include gentle movements, breathing, and relaxation techniques which may help participants cope with and improve their surgical experiences.
Effects of Centering Pre-operative Counseling on Patient Reported Anxiety
Gynecologic CancerOvarian Cancer3 moreThe primary objective of the study is to evaluate the effect of pre-operative counseling in a group setting on patient reported anxiety for patients scheduled to undergo surgery for a known or suspected gynecologic malignancy. Patient reported anxiety will be evaluated using a validated Patient-Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System (PROMIS) survey. We hypothesize that the group counseling session will reduce patient reported anxiety by a clinical meaningful level. Secondary objectives will evaluate the effect of the intervention on patient reported depression levels and compare adherence to Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) instructions, utilization of unscheduled health care resources, and anxiety/depression levels to historical controls.
