Electrosclerotherapy for Capillary Malformations
Capillary MalformationsVascular MalformationsCapillary malformations (port-wine stains) consist of abnormally developed capillary blood vessels in the skin. To date, laser therapy is the only widely accepted treatment modality for capillary malformations, but this therapy has a suboptimal effect in approximately 50-60% of patients. Intralesional bleomycin injections (sclerotherapy) are a common effective treatment option for vascular malformations with blood vessels with larger diameters. However, bleomycin cannot be injected adequately in the small sized vessels of capillary malformations. The use of an electric field over the tissue (electroporation) may solve this problem: it increases cell membrane permeability and therefore promotes localized delivery of drugs, within (endothelial) cells. Electroporation in combination with bleomycin sclerotherapy ('electrosclerotherapy') may therefore offer new therapeutic options for capillary malformations. This proof of principle study aims to explore the effectiveness, safety and feasibility of this potential treatment option in a within-patient-controlled pilot study.

Radifocus (Terumo) Versus Silverway (Asahi) to Deliver Catheters During Cardiac Catheterization...
Anomalies VascularIn some cases the standard J-tip guidewire cannot deliver the catheter into the aortic root, because of arterial loops or spasm. In these cases a hydrophilic guidewire (Terumo) gives the right lubricity and good shape retention to guide the catheter through the artery. However, the Terumo wire does not give much torque and could therefore easily penetrate side branches and cause dissection or perforation. The latest Silverway guidewire has some new advantages which is easier to guide and could cause less complications while faster delivery of catheters to the aortic valve. The investigators aim to compare both guide wires.

Multifocal Lymphangioendotheliomatosis With ThrombocytopeniaCutaneovisceral Angiomatosis With Thrombocytopenia2 morePURPOSE The purpose of this study is to learn more about multifocal lymphangioendotheliomatosis with thrombocytopenia (MLT). MLT is a rare vascular disorder characterized by multiple congenital skin and visceral lesions, profound thrombocytopenia, and gastrointestinal bleeding. The skin lesions may appear red, brown or blue, often misdiagnosed as hemangiomas. The gastrointestinal tract, liver, and lungs are the most common internal organs involved. The severe thrombocytopenia (low platelets) is believed to be the result of platelet trapping within the skin and visceral vascular lesions. Severe and chronic gastrointestinal bleeding is common during infancy and early childhood. Although a relatively newly described entity, MLT was likely previously reported as hemangiomas, blue rubber bleb nevus syndrome, diffuse hemangiomatosis, Kasabach-Merritt phenomenon, and hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia. The term cutaneovisceral angiomatosis with thrombocytopenia is also a term used for this same disease. This study is a longitudinal cohort study of MLT to collect detailed clinical data on the distribution of disease, disease severity, and complications. This data will be used to create diagnostic criteria and an evaluation protocol for infants with this disease

Investigators are asking children with capillary malformations (port wine stains) to be in the research, because investigators do not have a good idea of what to expect from the current treatments of these malformations. These malformations are treated with laser as clinically indicated and there are no standardized methods to assess improvement.
