The purpose of this study is to investigate the mechanism that explain the beneficial clinical effect of vitamin D treatment in women with PCOS.

Investigators will examine arterial stiffness and pulse waveform analysis. Subjects with vitamin D insufficiency will be recruited. A double blind randomized controlled study will examine the effects of standard dose vitamin D3 (800 IU) versus higher dose vitamin D3 (5000 IU)-given on a daily basis.In order to understand mechanisms of action by which vitamin D would improve arterial stiffness investigators will use biomarkers. This is an open-labelled, randomized controlled clinical trial aimed to compare the pharmacokinetics of an orodispersible vs a soft gelatin vitamin supplementation in vitamin D deficient healthy adults.

Vitamin D deficiency is a common, potentially reversible contributor to morbidity and mortality among critically ill patients. We conducted a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, phase 3 trial of early vitamin D3 supplementation in critically ill, vitamin D-deficient patients who were at high risk for death. Patients screened as vitamin D deficient (<20 ng/mL) were randomized. Randomization occurred within 12 hours after the decision to admit the patient to an intensive care unit. Eligible patients received a single enteral dose of 540,000 IU of vitamin D3 or matched placebo. The primary end point was 90-day all-cause, all-location mortality.

Introduction: There are many cross-sectional studies in children and adults indicating that low vitamin D levels in asthmatic patients are correlated with poorer asthma control, poorer lung function, decreased response to glucocorticoids and more frequent exacerbations. Materials and methods: A prospective, controlled, randomised, triple-blind study was conducted with a follow-up of 6 months. The patients recruited were over 18 years of age with a medical diagnosis of bronchial asthma and serum 25(OH)D3 levels < 30 ng/ml. Patients were excluded if they had a smoking habit ≥ 10 pack-years, taking vitamin D supplements, kidney disease (creat. > 2 mg/dl), hypercalcaemia (corrected with proteins > 10.5 mg/dl), a repeat episodes of renal colic, any gastrointestinal disease that might interfere with vitamin D absorption, or severe psychosocial problems, or were pregnant or breast-feeding. The randomisation process assigned patients to one of two groups: a group that received vitamin D (in the form of calcifediol (Hidroferol®) in 16,000-IU ampoules taken weekly by the oral route) and another group that received placebo in a presentation with an identical appearance and the same administration regimen. Demographic, clinical, spirometry and laboratory endpoints were collected. The primary endpoint was degree of asthma control as determined by the internationally validated Asthma Control Test (ACT). The secondary endpoints were asthma exacerbations, dose of inhaled corticosteroids and quality of life as measured using the Mini-AQLQ (Asthma Quality of Life Questionnaire).

Bariatric surgery patients tend to have malabsorption of many micronutrients such as B12, Iron and vitamin D postoperative. So in this study, a monthly high dose of vitamin D3 is giving to patients with their routine supplements and followed up for 6 months. Hypothesis:Bariatric surgery subjects taking monthly high dose cholecalciferol supplements in addition to the standard vitamin D protocol will have a significant rise in serum vitamin D levels compared to the subjects taking only the usual vitamin D protocol.

This study aimed to compare the effects between sunlight exposure and oral vitamin D supplementation on serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D concentration and metabolic markers in Korean young adults.

The study aim is in two phases. First phase: to evaluate the influence of vitamin D deficiency on asthma severity, degree of airway obstruction and frequency of asthma exacerbations. Second phase: to evaluate if in patients with vitamin D deficiency (25-OH vitamin D levels below 20 ng/ml), vitamin D supplementation decreases the number of disease exacerbations.
