Intratreatment FDG-PET During Radiation Therapy for Gynecologic and Gastrointestinal Cancers
Cancer of the CervixVulvar Cancer2 moreThis study expands on protocol (NCT01908504"PET adaptive RT") designed to evaluate the utility of adaptive PET-CT planning for radiation therapy (RT). Radiation therapy is used in many malignant diseases as a curative treatment modality. However, critical normal tissue is often in close approximation to disease, and portions of such tissue must receive high doses of radiation for appropriate treatment. Positron Emission Tomography (PET) adapted radiation therapy, as defined in the current protocol, may allow for a means of determining the eventual response to therapy, at a time point when adaptation of treatment plan may be possible to improve outcomes. This protocol will build upon the findings the previous protocol (NCT01908504 "PET adaptive RT") that evaluated the utility of intra-treatment PET imaging in multiple types of cancers. The current focus will be more specific to certain types of gastrointestinal and gynecologic cancers treated with RT, identified from the prior study to warrant further research.
Physical Activity Intervention Among Older Women With Gynecologic Cancers (Fit4Treatment)
Ovary CancerEndometrial Cancer5 moreThe primary purpose of the study is to determine which of four components (symptom-burden tailored app, exercise partner, oncology provider engagement, coaching) added to a core intervention of a wearable activity tracker and commercially available app, will improve physical activity. The findings will generate meaningful knowledge about how to best increase physical activity in older gynecologic cancer patients receiving systemic cancer therapies to improve quality of life and cancer-specific survival.
e-Health Intervention (Day-by-Day) for the Management of Fear of Progression in Women With Stage...
Malignant Female Reproductive System NeoplasmStage III Cervical Cancer AJCC v89 moreThis clinical trial studies how well an electronic (e)-health intervention (day-by-day) woks in managing fears or worries about cancer growing, spreading, or getting worse (progression) in patients with stage III or IV gynecologic cancer. Fear and worries about cancer progression or recurrence (coming back) are common concerns. This may contribute to concerns related to illness, worries, and uncertainty about the future. Day by Day is adapted from a program called "Conquer Fear" which was shown to benefit patients with early-stage cancer. Day-by-day intervention may help refocus patient thoughts and help patients learn skills to manage anxiety and fears.
Gynaecology Exercise and Mindfulness Study
Gynecologic CancerUterus Cancer4 moreThe aim of this study is to explore the feasibility and effectiveness of conducting a mindfulness and home-based walking and strength training program on fatigue, psychological outcomes and quality of life for gynecological cancer survivors. The intervention consists of a 8 week mindfulness and home based walking and strengthening program for gynecology survivors. It will be delivered through a specifically designed app. The aim would be to gradually increase exercise and mindfulness levels so participants start to achieve the recommended levels of activity per week. Participants will be recruited via cancer Charites and their service users either directly and through social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter). Both groups will receive an intervention either mindfulness alone or mindfulness and exercise. Assessments will be taken at baseline (0 weeks) and post intervention (8 weeks). Both groups will complete the same assessments at the same time-points.
Interventions to Decrease Financial Toxicity
CancerBreast6 moreFinancial distress affects 30-70% of cancer patients and describes the burden that patients experience due to the costs of care (CoC). One reason may be because patients lack the appropriate information on CoC that would help them better plan for and manage their CoC. Therefore, the investigators plan to test a Proactive CoC intervention which includes a discussion with a trained educator on CoC information and a Cost Tracking tool to help patients deal with their CoC.
The Lifestyle and Empowerment Techniques in Survivorship of Gynecologic Oncology Study
Gynecologic CancerGynecologic Neoplasm4 moreThis study compares traditional follow-up of gynaecological cancer patients to an alternative follow-up model. In the alternative follow-up model the patients will meet a nurse at every second consultation. The nurse will focus on psychosocial health and educate the patients in the use of a study specific smartphone-application.
Sexual Health Counseling Intervention During Radiation Therapy in Improving Quality of Life for...
Malignant Female Reproductive System NeoplasmStage I Cervical Cancer AJCC v843 moreThis phase I trial studies a sexual health counseling intervention during radiation therapy in improving quality of life for women with gynecologic cancer. Women with gynecologic cancer often suffer long-term complications from treatment that can affect their physical and psychological well-being. An early sexual health counseling intervention prior to and after radiation may improve symptoms management and reduce the physical and psychological effects of treatment.
