Researching Resiliency in Stressful Experiences (RISE) Program for Men Leaving Incarceration

The investigators are conducting a randomized controlled trial to assess the impact of Resiliency in Stressful Experiences (RISE) - a comprehensive trauma-based program for young men releasing from a southeastern state's prisons. The investigators are assessing whether treating trauma and providing other transitional supports - such as employment assistance - as young men return home will help to improve their community stability and enhance their psychological well-being, in turn, resulting in less likelihood that a person will become incarcerated in the future.

The Use of Mentoring to Promote Well-being for Female SMART Members

Women are highly underrepresented in the construction skilled trades. In addition to facing the industry's well-known physical risks, women are subjected to discrimination, harassment, and skills under-utilization. As a result, tradeswomen have increased risk for injury, stress-related health effects, and high attrition rates from apprenticeship programs, thus perpetuating their minority status. Mentoring is a well-established technique for learning technical and personal navigation skills in new or challenging social environments. The investigators propose development and dissemination of a mentorship program through local unions of the International Association of Sheet Metal, Air, Rail and Transportation Workers (SMART), and evaluating its success in reducing women's injury and work stress, while improving retention.

The goal of this realist evaluation of a Danish Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)-based stress management for patients with work-related stress is to understand what works, for whom, in what circumstances.The main objectives are: To assess the effect of the stress management intervention on sustainable return to work. To investigate what contexts and mechanisms are associated with patients' return to work rates and level of perceived stress after having received the stress management intervention. To understand from a patient perspective how mechanisms work in specific contexts to generate effects of the stress management intervention. The evaluation comprises two observational studies and one interview study. The intervention cohort are patients with work-related stress who received the stress management intervention between 2012-2018. The comparison cohort are patients who would have been eligible to receive the intervention in 2011-2012, however they did not receive any intervention because it was not offered at that time. In study one return to work rates are compared between the intervention cohort and the comparison cohort to find out if the intervention can help patients return to work at a faster rate. Study two will investigate if there are any explanatory variables (such as work type, civil status or level of depressive symptoms) that may explain why some patients benefit more or less from the intervention. Study three will explore what it is about the intervention (mechanisms) the patients find are helping them to cope with stress or the opposite in specific circumstances.

Braining - Physical Exercise in Psychiatry - Evaluation of Feasibility, Implementation and Health...

Physical exercise (PE) shows beneficial effects on somatic and psychiatric symptoms. "Braining" is a clinical invention where psychiatric staff exercise together with patients to help patients start and execute PE regularly. In the present study feasibility of the intervention will be evaluated, how Braining is perceived and implemented, and effects on health and physical activity among staff. It is hypothesized that staff health and physical activity will increase after implementing Braining at the unit. Braining will be implemented at four psychiatric units in Region Stockholm, Sweden. During 6 months staff will be trained and receive implementation support. To measure feasibility the staff will answer self-rating questionnaires and be invited to a focus group interview post the implementation period. Implementation will be evaluated by ratings of compliance, the self-rating questionnaire Normalization Process Theory Measure (S-NoMAD), and focus group interviews. Health will be measured by self ratings of stress, sleep, general health, and engagement pre implementation and every month during the 6 month implementation phase. Ratings will be repeated at follow up 12 month after implementation started. Physical activity will be rated during the 6 months implementation phase using a tracker of activity and at follow up 12 month after implementation started. All staff at the units will be invited to participate in the evaluations, approximately 20 individuals per unit.

Family Supportive Supervisor Training and Workplace Assessment Tool

This study will evaluate the effectiveness of FSST 2.0 (family supportive supervisor training plus support for use of family and sick leaves) using a randomized control trial design. We expect the intervention will increase supervisors' family supportive and leave supportive behaviors, which in turn will increase employees' leave use and decrease employees' work-family conflict, emotional exhaustion, depressive symptoms, and turnover intentions. This study will enroll a minimum 200 groups of managers and their employees. Managers in the intervention condition will complete pre- and 2 post-intervention Workplace Assessments, 2 online training modules, 1 webinar where managers can review intervention content and ask questions and share reactions on the materials. Managers in the control group and employees in both groups will complete pre- and 2 post-intervention Workplace Assessments. The post-intervention Workplace Assessment will be completed 3 and 6 months after the intervention. The total duration of the study is 9 months as the wait list control group will be offered the intervention and 2nd follow up survey after the 6-month trial.

The goal of this proposed study is to test the feasibility and preliminary efficacy of worksite wellness program designed to reduce worker stress (job and personal) and improve cardiovascular disease among long-term care workers. We also aim to test if increasing wellness behaviors in staff will translate to increased wellness behaviors in residents due to positive role modeling.

Burnout Syndrome is a medical condition caused by long-term job-related strain and is defined by presence of either one or more of the three states i.e. emotional exhaustion, depersonalization and lack of personal accomplishment. Burnout has been shown to cause decreased work output and mental well being of employees and increase errors at workplace. Burnout is observed in various lines of work and but has been found to be especially high among academic students undertaking professional studies as well as healthcare professionals. Medical students in their clerkship years undergo high stake exams, while adapting from classroom and simulation learning to participate in clinical care of patients in hospital care setting with no prior experience, which much them vulnerable to developing burnout during medical school. Burnout can effect medical students' well-being, which may continue into their internship and residency so greater emphasis in required on creating an awareness of burnout and identifying any factors associated to its development.
