Wound Catheter Vs LA Bolus in Renal Transplant: RCT

Wound

Pain control is an important part of patients' care after a kidney transplant. Currently patients receive a one off injection of Local Anaesthetic (LA) in the wound at the end of the operation followed by Intravenous morphine through a Patient Controlled Analgesia System (PCAS), a button pressed to provide a calculated dose with lock out times for safety. Through this study the aim to test the efficiency of Continuous Local Anaesthetic Infiltration via Wound Catheter (LAWC) which is a method to deliver Local Anaesthetic over a longer period of time after the operation. LAWC are currently in use in a variety of surgical specialities including Liver surgery. Patients participating in this study will be allocated randomly to one of 2 groups; one will receive LA at the end of the operation as per current practice and one will receive LAWC. It then compare outcomes such as the the dose of morphine required in the PCAS, quality of pain control and improvement in recovery.

A Clinical Trial to Investigate Efficacy and Safety of NT 201 Injections Compared With Placebo Injections...

Moderate to Severe Chronic Peripheral Neuropathic Pain (PNP) Due to Postherpetic Neuralgia (PHN) or Peripheral Nerve Injury

In this clinical trial, participants with nerve pain after shingles or nerve injury will receive injections with NT 201 or placebo. The purpose is to measure the decrease of nerve pain with NT 201 compared to placebo. Trial details include: Trial duration: 22-23 weeks; Treatment duration: 1 injection visit with a 20-week follow-up period; Visit frequency: 2 remote visits by phone/video call (1 week and 12 weeks after the injection); 2 on-site visits (6 weeks and 20 weeks after the injection).

A Morphological Study in Volleyball Athletes With Cronic Ankle Instability

Ankle InjuriesInstability; Ankle (Ligaments) (Old Injury)3 more

The former purpose of this study to investigate the effect of transverse abdominis, lumbar multifidus, vastus lateralis, lateral gastrocnemius, anterior talofibular ligament of morphology on explosive power and balance performance in cronic ankle instability with volleyball players. The latter purpose of this study to determine morphological characteristics volleyball players with and without cronic ankle insatbility of trunk muscle morphology, field tests and the muscle morphology features between the body affected and unaffected sides whose those with chronic ankle instability. This study was designed as a cross-sectional. Twelve volleyball players with chronic ankle instability who meet the criteria determined by the ankle consortium will be included in study group. Twelve asymptomatic volleyball players who have been training at least three days a week for at least one year will be include in the control group. They will consist of 24 volleyball players between 14-35 years of age.Morphological characteristics of anterior talofibular ligament, transverse abdominis, lumbar multifidus, vastus lateralis, lateral gastrocnemius will be evaluated via ultrasound, explosive power with squat jump, counter movement jump and balance performance by Y-Balance Test. Trunk muscle morphology, core stabilization, explosive power, balance performance will have been compered in volleyball players with and without chronic ankle instability. The effects of morphological features on explosive power and balance performance will have been determined. It is anticipated that by determining the parameters that can be affected by instability with volleyball players, it will guide the professionals working in the field, countribute to treatment and preventive treatment programs.

Five-day 20-minute 10-Hz tACS in Patients With a Disorder of Consciousness

Brain Injury Traumatic SevereDisorder of Consciousness1 more

This study first aims to validate the feasibility of a multimodal 5-day 20-minute tACS protocol in subacute brain-injured patients with a disorder of consciousness during their ICU stay, and conduct a clinical pilot study (validation phase). Upon completion of this validation phase and according to obtained results, a randomized clinical trial will be conducted to compare the effects of the 5-day active 10Hz-tACS protocol with a 5-day sham-tACS protocol on brain dynamics modulation. This study will also compare intervention conditions on recovery of consciousness, cognition and function using short-term and long-term measurements.

Patient Recall After Orthopedic Trauma

Education After Trauma

The purpose of this study is to evaluate whether receiving education after trauma surgeries affects three things: 1) knowledge about injury and treatment ("recall"), 2) how well patients follow treatment recommendations, and 3) how satisfied patients are with their care. To do so, some participants in this study will receive education, and some will not.

Pediatric Ocular Trauma in Minia Governate

Pediatric Ocular Trauma

The most common cause of unilateral blindness in pediatric age groups, especially in developing countries, is ocular trauma. The epidemiology of eye injuries varies in different parts of the world and different age groups and depends on many factors including life style, socioeconomic status, traffic state, sport and creative activities and type of registration and recording of data. About half a million people in the world are blind as a result of eye injuries. About 30-40% of monocular blindness is due to ocular trauma
