Transmuscular Quadratus Lumborum Block on Post-Operative Analgesia After Total Hip Arthroplasty...
Quadratus Lumborum BlockThe aim of this study is to compare between the post-operative analgesic effect of two approaches of transmuscular quadratus lumborum block (transverse versus paraspinous sagittal transmuscular QLB) in total hip replacement surgery.

Spinal Cord Stimulation Versus Instrumentation for FBSS
Failed Back Surgery SyndromeSCS4 moreLow back pain affects people of all ages and has become the leading cause of living with disability worldwide. Patients, suffering from persistent pain after spinal surgery in the absence of any clear spinal pathology are defined of having a "failed back surgery syndrome (FBSS)" and treatment of FBSS remains a great controversy in the spinal community. Apart from conservative treatment, spinal fusion remains as therapeutic option. Furthermore, minimal invasive Neuromodulation techniques might be a promising alternative. Aim of this randomized interventional multi center study is to compare treatment success in FBSS patients with either spinal cord stimulation (SCS) or fusion surgery, 12 months after intervention according to the Oswestry Disability Index (ODI) and other scales and scores. Radiological and health economic outcome also will be analysed for thorough comparison of techniques. Additionally, the safety of the interventions needs to be compared.

A Pilot Study of Ambulatory Heart Rate Variability Biofeedback for Substance Use Disorder
Substance Use DisordersHeart rate variability biofeedback (HRVB) is an biobehavioral intervention involving rhythmic breathing at resonance frequency that stimulates cardiovascular regulatory systems to help individuals better regulate affect and bolster cognitive control. This intervention has already shown its potential as a substance use disorder (SUD) treatment tool, but practical limitations of its accessibility, labor intensiveness, and cost have previously prevented this intervention from going to scale. Second-generation, ambulatory HRVB technology, however, has overcome these limitations and now allows patients to practice HRVB in-the-moment when its needed most. This study is testing the efficacy of second-generation, ambulatory HRVB for the first time with individuals with SUD.

Multicomponent Lifestyle Intervention for Depression Supported With Digital Health Technologies...
DepressionThe proposed study will be a randomized, assessor-blind controlled trial embedding both outcome and process evaluations of a 6-week group LM intervention with/without self-tracking tools (Study I). The outcome evaluation will examine the effects of LM-S and LM alone vs. CAU, and the process evaluation will enhance the understanding of the causal assumptions that underpin LM to inform policy and clinical practice. Eligible participants with at least a moderate level of depression will be randomly assigned to the LM- S, LM alone, and CAU groups in a 1:1:1 allocation ratio. The study period will be 18 weeks. Assessments at baseline, week 7 (1-week post-intervention), and week 18 (12-week post-intervention) will be managed by an independent assessor (a research assistant, RA) who is blind to the group allocation. The proposed trial and the nested pilot study will follow the CONSORT and STROBE guidelines, respectively. The intervention will be provided free of charge.

Effects of Physical Activity Counseling in Patients With Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis
ScoliosisAdolescent ScoliosisScoliosis is a three-dimensional deformity of the spine of unknown etiology and is clinically defined as 10° or more lateral curvature of the spine. Although there are different types of scoliosis, the most common type is adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS), which starts at the age of 10. AIS can affect body alignment, spine and soft tissues and cause physical problems such as postural disorder, cosmetic trunk deformity, decreased flexibility of the spinal column, changes in spinal muscle characteristics, and back pain. The aim of our study is to examine the effects of physical activity counseling on physical activity level and posture, perception of deformity and quality of life in patients with AIS.

Pilot Study Comparing the Safety and Efficacy of Two Dosing Regimens of TP-03 for the Treatment...
Meibomian Gland DysfunctionBlepharitis1 moreThe purpose of this study is to compare the safety and efficacy of TP-03, 0.25%, an eyedrop, BID vs TID dosing regimens for the treatment of meibomian gland dysfunction in patients with Demodex lid infestation.

Effect of Pressure on Skin Temperature When Using a Cryocompression Device
Temperature ChangeBodyCryotherapy after surgery is widely utilised and has numerous practical applications for post-operative rehabili-tation. Previous research has suggested that during cold therapy, the skin temperature of the knee should be reduced to 10-15°C to maximise the therapeutic benefits of cooling while avoiding the risk of cold injuries such as nerve damage and frostbite (Wilke and Weiner, 2003; Bleakley, McDonough and MacAuley, 2004). The degree to which the pressure applied by a cuff to the knee has an effect on the achieved skin temperature of the treatment area is unknown. The aim of this study is to determine the effect that different pressure settings have on skin temperature around the knee during a 30-minute cryocompression treatment.

Allografts in Surgery of the Main Arteries
Critical Lower Limb IschemiaThe study will examine the results of the use of biological materials (allogeneic arterial grafts, allogeneic venous graft, autologous vein, biological bovine decellularized graft) as a bypass grafts for reconstructive interventions in patients with critical lower limb ischemia due to atherosclerotic peripheral arterial disease in the short-term and long-term postoperative periods. Histological analysis of allogeneic grafts will be carried out at various time points of graft preservation with a Roswell Park Memorial Institute 1640 cell medicum with 400mcg/ml gentamicin and 20mcg/ml fluconazole at a temperature of +4C. The physical properties of allogeneic grafts from postmortem donors (tensile and tear strength) will be evaluated at various conservation time periods (1 week, 2 weeks, 3 weeks, 4 weeks, 5 weeks, 6 weeks). Markers of endothelial dysfunction (IL-6, endothelin-1, 6-keto-prostaglandin F1alfa, eNOS) will be evaluated in patients with critical ischemia who undergo bypass procedures with arterial and venous allografts at various time points (before surgery, 7 days, 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, 1 year after).

Myeloid MalignancyMyelodysplastic Syndromes3 moreThe purpose of this research study is to test the safety of a new three drug combination of navitoclax, decitabine, and venetoclax to treat advanced myeloid malignancies. The names of the drugs involved in this study are: Venetoclax Decitabine Navitoclax
