Emotional Awareness and Expression Therapy (EAET) as a Novel Migraine Treatment

Migraine Disorders

This study tests the effect of a new behavioral intervention, Emotional Awareness and Expression Therapy (EAET), as a possible new treatment for people living with migraine. The main questions it aims to answer are: Can EAET lower the frequency and severity of migraine attacks? What are the elements that can explain EAET's effect? Requirements from Participants: Participants will be randomized into either a treatment or control arms. Those who are assigned to the control arm are eligible to receive the treatment in the next cohort. Participants assigned to the treatment arms are expected to engage in 8 weekly online sessions via Zoom (sessions are 2 hours long). Each session has a lecture, in-class exercises, discussion, and weekly assignments. Each participant is required to fill out questionnaires before the first session, and after the last session of the treatment. Participants will benefit from a new and promising intervention that can significantly help with their migraines at no cost.

A Study of Radiation Therapy to Treat Solid Tumor Cancer That Has Spread to Soft Tissue

Invasive Ductal Breast CarcinomaInvasive Ductal Breast Carcinoma Stage IV13 more

The purpose of this study is to find out whether lattice radiation therapy (LRT) is an effective radiation therapy technique when compared to standard stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT). The study will also study how the different radiation therapy techniques (LRT and SBRT) affect how many immune cells are able to attack and kill tumor cells (immune infiltration).

Efficacy and Safety of Tislelizumab in Combination With Disitamab-vedotin as Neoadjuvant Therapy...

Neoadjuvant Immunotherapy

Neoadjuvant chemotherapy treatment can be used for specific UTUC patients, especially for highly staged and/or grade tumors, such as kidneys with potentially decreased renal function after RNU. Neoadjuvant therapy is a series of treatments administered preoperatively for UTUC, mainly chemotherapy, and in recent years, novel therapies of immunotherapy have emerged. Since conventional cisplatin neoadjuvant regimens also require high preoperative renal function, neoadjuvant therapy regimens such as immunotherapy provide more effective and feasible treatments for patients who are intolerant to current cisplatin chemotherapy regimens. The aim of this study was to explore a novel preoperative neoadjuvant immunotherapy for UTUC. To further observe the feasibility and safety of this regimen in the field of UTUC.

Effect of the Exoskeleton for Assisting Ambulatory Activities in People With Subacute Stroke

StrokeExoskeleton

Background: Although rehabilitation activities, including physical therapy, are known to be beneficial for stroke patients, many patients still have poor walking function, especially after the acute phase of three months, where the recovery of lower limb walking ability through traditional rehabilitation therapy gradually decreases, requiring alternative approaches. Exoskeleton robots appear to provide benefits for stroke patients by providing exercise guidance, thus improving their independent gait endurance and stair climbing ability. For stroke patients who cannot continue to improve through general rehabilitation and have ongoing mobility difficulties, exoskeletons may be a potential solution. However, previous literature on the use of exoskeletons to assist gait training has had mixed results, with one major reason being that the frequency of use is too low or the duration of use is too short, due to the high cost and inconvenience of travel to medical institutions. Therefore, it is necessary to find ways to enable patients to use them frequently and for a long period. Method: investigators designed a non-blinded, randomized crossover trial to observe the potential benefits of using the device at home for one month. Patients were randomly divided into two groups, one receiving traditional rehabilitation first and the other using the exoskeleton first. There were four time points for testing: before, after the first stage of treatment, after the second stage of treatment, and one month after completing the second stage, to observe the sustained effects. The testing involved executing a 6-minute walk test, timed up and go test, and a 10-step stair test (up and down) both with and without the device. An electronic software app was used to record daily usage time to determine the quantity and degree of home use. Analysis: Repeated measures ANOVA models were used to analyze the effects and correlations of the experiment. The effects of the duration/frequency of use on dosage were also analyzed.

General Exercises With and Without TA Contraction in Patients With Nonspecific Acute LBP

Low Back Pain

PURPOSE: To evaluate the effectiveness of adding transversus abdominis contraction to general exercises to treat patients with nonspecific acute low back pain. BACKGROUND: Non-specific low back pain affects people of all ages and is a leading contributor to disease burden worldwide. Management consists of education and reassurance, analgesic medicines, non-pharmacological therapies, and timely review. The clinical course of low back pain is often favourable; thus, many patients require little if any formal medical care. Two treatment strategies are currently used, a stepped approach beginning with more simple care that is progressed if the patient does not respond, and the use of simple risk prediction methods to individualise the amount and type of care provided. Motor control exercises, which advocate the contraction of the TrA have shown some efficacy for patients with chronic low back pain. However, the validity of this strategy for patients with acute LBP is unclear. HYPOTHESES: there will be no significant effect of adding transversus abdominis contraction to general exercise than general exercise alone in patients with non-specific acute low back pain. RESEARCH QUESTION: Is there a statistically significant effect of adding transversus abdominis contraction to general exercise on outcomes of patients with non-specific acute low back pain?

The Impact of an Adaptive Patient-centered Web Application on Medication Optimization in HFrEF Patients...

Heart Failure

The SmartHF study is a 12-week prospective randomized controlled multicenter clinical trial. This study will investigate the efficacy of an adaptive web application to facilitate guideline-directed medical therapy (GDMT) optimization in HFrEF patients. Eligible participants will be randomized to the web application intervention or control in a 1:1 manner, stratified by site. The intervention is an adaptive medication optimization web application that extracts and analyzes the EHR data with a computable medication optimization algorithm. The algorithm provides a medication quality score and outputs medication optimization recommendations written in a patient -friendly manner.

Total Neoadjuvant Therapy With Short-course Radiation Followed by Envafolimab Plus CAPEOX for MSS...

Rectal Cancer

Short-course radiotherapy combined with immunotherapy may bring revolutionary changes to the total neoadjuvant therapy mode for locally advanced ultra low rectal cancer to preserve the organs. In view of the shortcomings of the current otal neoadjuvant therapy model for locally advanced ultra low rectal cancer, we will explore the feasibility of a new model of short-course radiotherapy combined with immunotherapy, and develop a possible optimal plan based on the existing theoretical basis, namely "short-course radiotherapy + PD-L1 monoclonal antibody combined with CAPEOX chemotherapy for 8 cycles", and explore the efficacy and adverse effects of this model. The study will also attempt to explore the characteristics of the treatment beneficiary population, explore the characteristics of the treatment beneficiary population by multi-dimensional tumor and microenvironmental information through multi-omics sequencing analysis, attempt to build an efficacy prediction model, early screening of the treatment beneficiary population for precise treatment, and thus explore a new model of radiotherapy combined with immunotherapy for the poplation who can be achieved organ preservation.
