Body Signal Integration Training: A Case Series

Functional Neurological Disorder

The goal of this clinical trial is to learn about an intervention package in individuals with Functional Neurological Disorder (FND). The main questions it aims to answer are: Is the intervention package acceptable to and feasible to deliver to individuals with FND? Does the intervention package improve symptoms of FND? Participants will be asked to engage in 8 weekly sessions of an intervention aimed to improve the perception of signals coming from the body (interoception). Participants will be asked to complete tasks between session practising tuning into signals from the body. Participants will also be asked to complete questionnaires measuring their psychological wellbeing, FND symptoms and interoception.

Chronotype-adapted Diet and Weight Loss

Overweight and Obesity

In humans, prolonged alterations in the circadian rhythm have been linked to cognitive impairments, premature ageing, and oncological and metabolic disorders such as diabetes and obesity. Obesity, in particular, is an ever-increasing condition with innumerable deleterious effects on human health. In recent years, studies have shown a relationship between a person's chronotype (morning or evening) and eating habits, as well as the importance of adapting these habits to physiological rhythms. Furthermore, it has been suggested that customising the caloric distribution of meals according to personal circadian rhythms may influence body weight and be one of the strategies to control overweight and obesity. In spite of the strong interest in this topic and the increasing number of observational studies conducted, there is currently a lack of intervention studies evaluating whether a low-calorie diet that takes into account the individual chronotype may be more effective than a standard low-calorie diet in the treatment of overweight and/or obesity.

Walking Aid and Locomotion Knowledge in Emergency Rooms (WALKER 1) for Elderly People

Mobility Limitation

Older adults have higher rates of emergency department admissions when compared to their younger counterparts. Mobility is the ability to move around but also encompasses the environment and the ability to adapt to it. Walking aids can be used to improve mobility and prevent falls. According to international guidelines, they must be available in Geriatric Emergency Department. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of a program of training and provision of walking aids (WA), associated or not with telemonitoring, on mobility, quality of life, fear of falling, and risk of falls up to 3 months in older adults cared for in an emergency department.

Testing an e-Health Intervention for Prostate Cancer Survivors' Mental and Sexual Health

Prostate Cancer

This study aims to assess the acceptability, feasibility, and preliminary efficacy of an e-Health psychological intervention specifically designed to promote sexual health, mental health, and general well-being and quality of life in men with prostate cancer. A pilot study will be conducted involving prostate cancer survivors randomly assigned to one of two conditions: the experimental group (receiving the program) vs the control condition (waiting list). The experimental group is expected to improve on outcomes related to mental and sexual well-being when compared to the control group. Furthermore, the experimental group is expected to show good acceptability of the intervention program. This study aims to inform the design and methodology to be adopted in a future randomized controlled trial aimed to further test the e-Health intervention's efficacy.
