Effect of Fentanyl on Main Opioid Receptor (OPRM1) on Human Granulosa Cells.

Stress ReactionOpioid Use

Opioids is known that produce not only analgesia but also hyperalgesia through activation of central glutaminergic system-GABA. At the same time, recently it was found that the main opioid receptor (OPRM1) is present on human granulosa cells and exogenous opiates and their antagonists can influence granulosa cell vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) production via OPRM1, causing ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome. This study aims to investigate if a single exposure to opioids is enough to produce activation of stress mechanism during oocyte retrieval.

Epidemiological Characteristics and Treatment Protocol for Carbapenem-Resistant Klebsiella Pneumoniae...

Klebsiella Pneumoniae Infection

Klebsiella pneumoniae is one of the most common pathogens causing nosocomial infection. Recently, the emergency of Carbapenem-Resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae (CRKP) had cause the clinical therapy be very difficult. However, there is not much empirical data as to the prevalence, risk factors, characteristics, and the rationality of the current therapy for the CRKP infection. Thus, the study was aimed to investigate the epidemiology and risk factors, characteristics, and the rationality of the current therapy for the CRKP infection.

Developing a Functional Cure for HIV Disease: Clinical Specimen Collection From HIV Positive Individuals...

HIV Infections

Clinical specimens are required from HIV positive individuals with viremia controlled by antiretroviral therapy to complete process development for a genetically modified autologous T cell product, AGT103-T. The product will be used in a subsequent early stage clinical trial in subjects with chronic HIV disease and viremia suppressed by antiretroviral therapy as the initial step in testing a functional cure for HIV disease. Enrolled participants provide a venous blood specimen (approximately 25mL) to determine their level of HIV-reactive CD4+ T cells. Subjects with positive T cell responses will be asked to undergo leukapheresis and their clinical specimens will be used to validate and qualify the AGT103-T cell product.

Non-genetic Risk Factors of Congenital Cataracts

Cataract

Prevention and treatment of the reversible childhood blindness, including congenital cataracts (CC), has been listed as a significant component of the international programme "VISION 2020 - the Right to Sight" launched by WHO in 1999. However, there is still a lot of unsolved problems regarding to CC, especially in developing countries, such as the delayed presentation and treatment to the hospitals, the lack of specialized treatment departments, and the poor treatment prognosis. With the two children policy opened in China in 2016, many CC parents hesitate to have a second child due to the potential high risk of CC. Date on detailed clinical characteristics of the CC children, including the demography, pregnancy-labor history, and living condition, are crucial for developing the national screening strategies of CC in Pregnant women. However, to our knowledge, it still lacks of thus large population-based and comprehensive investigations of the characteristics of CC children in developing countries.
