Emotional Experience and Burnout in Physician

Emotional Experience and Burnout in Physicians

Recent studies have highlighted a high incidence of burnout among surgeons. The aim of this study is in particular to investigate if this is the consequence of performing surgery (i.e. invasive procedures) or whether it is related to the cultural background of surgeons.

Immune Response After Leptospirosis Infection

Leptospirosis

Leptospirosis is a zoonotic infection induced by pathogen bacteria (genus: Leptospira) growing in water polluted by animal fluids. Due to its 10 fold occurence in French overseas aera, and especially in Reunion Island, as compared to metropoly, it is considered as a major public health issue. An important inter-individual variability in humoral immune response suggests that vaccination should be recommended in exposed subjects. This cohort study aimed to determine if subjects that have been infected by leptospirosis for 1 to 7 years still remain immunized, and then do not need vaccination.

Multiple Sclerosis Produces Cardiovascular Subclinical Dysfunction

Multiple Sclerosis

Multiple sclerosis (MS), debilitating disease involving primarily the central nervous system, may cause cardiovascular dysfunction, due to autonomous nervous system dysfunction, physical invalidity, increased oxidative stress, and systemic inflammatory status, but the detailed mechanisms are not elucidated. The investigators aimed to assess left and right ventricular (LV and RV) function, left atrial (LA) function, arterial function, and atrial-ventricular-arterial coupling in patients with MS, compared to control subjects. LV systolic and diastolic function and RV function were assessed by 2D- and 3D- echocardiography, tissue Doppler, and speckle tracking echocardiography. LA function was assessed by LA volume index and LA strain. Arterial remodeling and stiffness were assessed by intima media-thickness, pulse wave velocity, and parameters of wave intensity and endothelial function

Feasibility of Breast Cancer Risk Evaluation in Women From the General Population

Breastcancer

This study aims to evaluate the feasibility (acceptability) of a consultation dedicated to informing women about their risk of breast cancer and the screening methods recommended for them according to the recommendations in force during a routine consultation at a general practitioner, a gynecologist or a radiologist.

OCT-angiography in Diabetic Patients

Diabetic Macular Edema

Around the world there is an increasing incidence of diabetes mellitus, with millions of people affected. In this population, diabetic macular edema (DME) is the most common cause of visual impairment. While the visual impairment caused by EMD is variable, its early treatment can improve visual acuity and quality of life. The objective of this project is to use the new OCT-angiography technology, which evaluates macular capillary network without the need of intravenous injection of contrast, to assess macular microcirculatory network in its response to intravitreal pharmacological treatment of EMD. The resulting qualitative evaluation can be helpful in understanding the pathophysiology of visual loss associated with DME and in determining prognosis.
