Evaluation of Patient and Lesion Specific Prognostic Factors for Standard Radioimmunotherapy
Follicular LymphomaMERIT-NHL as an addendum to the International Registry of Radioimmunotherapy (RIT registry) pooling clinical data of patients who suffered from a non-Hodgkin´s lymphoma also includes the documentation of the respective FDG-PET and CT-image files in an online archive. Based on these documented clinical and imaging data, the MERIT study group centrally performs an intra- as well as interindividual evaluation of follicular CD20+ lymphoma lesions before and after radioimmunotherapy. According to this, the aim of the MERIT-NHL study is to prospectively identify yet unknown patient- and lesion specific prognostic factors predicting patient´s outcome in line with the therapeutic modality radioimmunotherapy.

Usefulness of Exhaled NO in the Differential Diagnosis Acute Eosinophilic Pneumonia and Bacterial...
AcuteEosinophilic PneumoniaAcute eosinophilic pneumonia (AEP) is diagnosed by cell count analysis of bronchoalveolar lavage fluid. However, the performance of bronchoscopy is not easy for patients with AEP, because they usually have hypoxia. Exhaled nitric oxide (FeNO) is usually elevated in the patients with eosinophilic inflammation such as asthma, but there is no previous studies FeNO in the patients with AEP. Investigators hypothesized that FeNO elevated significantly in patients with AEP, and FeNO can be used as non-invasive diagnostic method in patients who are clinically suspected with AEP, especially when the performance of bronchoscopy is difficult.

Exercise Capacity in Bronchiectasis Resection
BronchiectasisBronchiectasis can be defined as an abnormal and irreversible dilatation of the bronchial tree due to repeated cycles of inflammation and infection, resulting in progressive loss of lung function. The surgical treatment by pulmonary resection or even lung transplantation is indicated in cases of bronchiectasis primary nonresponsive to appropriate medical treatment, or when associated with serious complications. There are few literature data on the influence of bronchiectasis in exercise capacity, quality of life and functional capacity, and the impact of lung resection in patients with this diagnosis. The primary objective of this study is to evaluate prospectively the impact of lung resection on exercise capacity in patients with clinical and radiological diagnosis of bronchiectasis. The secondary objective of this study is to evaluate the impact of lung resection on quality of life and lung function and to analyze the the presence of predictors of postoperative functional deterioration and the occurrence of complications.

Genetic Assessment of the Patients With Metabolic Syndrome
Metabolic SyndromeMetabolic syndrome is a combination of medical disorders that increase the risk of developing cardiovascular disease and diabetes. The exact mechanisms of the complex pathways of metabolic syndrome are not yet completely known. The pathophysiology is extremely complex and has been only partially elucidated. Most patients are older, obese, sedentary, and have a degree of insulin resistance. Stress can also be a contributing factor. The most important factors are: weight, genetics, aging, sedentary lifestyle, excess caloric intake. In our study we will assess the role of some polymorphisms in the pathology of metabolic syndrome.

Traumatic Brain InjuryThis integrated research project is cooperated by an fully-experienced team of Taipei Medical University and National Institutes of Health. We hope that we can find out the disease of balance, anxiety and sick headaches through the translation of basic research to clinical diagnosis and treatment of Mild Traumatic Brain Injury (mTBI).

Natural History of IOL in Pseudo Exfoliation Syndrome
Pseudo Exfoliation SyndromeThe purpose of this study is to determine the natural course of IOL in PXF, To demonstrate use of a clinical grading system for PXF, To strategize a way to prevent IOL dislocation, subluxation post operatively, To demonstrate intraoperative and long-term post-operative complications associated with phaco and PXF To suggest evidence-based ways to minimize these complications, by using capsular tension rings (CTR), specific IOL material or size

The Impact of Rockall Risk Scoring System on Management of Upper Gastrointestinal System Bleeding...
Gastrointestinal HemorrhageThe patients who admit to emergency department with upper gastrointestinal system bleeding will undergo a clinical evaluation with Rockall Risk Scoring System. The patients with Rockall score of 1 or less will be discharged with medical treatment, and will have an elective upper gastrointestinal endoscopy in the end of the 30th day. The impact of Rockall Risk Scoring System on assessing the necessity of emergency endoscopy, length of hospital stay, morbidity, and mortality in low-risk patients will be evaluated.
