Danger Response in Polytrauma Patients

Multiple Trauma

The NTF_PT_2014 multicenter study aims to collect, store, and analyse plasma and serum from polytrauma-patients (injury severity score ≥25) and corresponding clinical data to address 1) how trauma modulates the release of danger molecules, inflammatory mediators, coagulation factors and novel biomarkers, 2) how the specific injury pattern affects the posttraumatic response and regenerative potential on an organ-, cell, and molecular level, and 3) how could a specific organ- and immune-monitoring predict the clinical outcome.

Outcome of Colonoscopy Screening and Surveillance

Gastroenterology

With this study, we plan to review the performance of colonoscopy in colon cancer screening and surveillance, especially with the recent improvements in endoscopic technology (high definition endoscopes), use of split dose preparation which provides excellent colon preparation for detection of lesions and increasing awareness and detection of flat lesions of the colon. The findings will help us define the role of colonoscopy screening of colon polyps and flat lesions and identity areas for improvement. The data will be used for continuing quality improvement and presenting our outcomes at academic meetings and publishing our results in peer reviewed journals.

Fetal Blood Flow Response to Partial Occlusion by External Compression

Gestational Age

Two earlier studies showed measurable fetal hemodynamics changes caused by external pressure induced by te abdominal ultrasound transducer. The investigators would like to study the response of flow in main fetal vessels to different, mild to moderate pressures induced by the abdominal transducer. The pressure induced by the transducer will be measured by a digital computed manometer. The flow chances in fetal vessels will be measured by ultrasound Doppler. Measurements will be taken on different pregnancy weeks, on one occasion in each pregnant woman. Ones without applying transducer pressure (control) and ones after applying mild pressure.
