Risk Factors for Co-existence of Cervical Elongation in Uterine Prolapse

Pelvic Organ Prolapse

The presence of co-existence of cervical elongation in women of uterine prolapse may decrease the patients' satisfaction of uterine-preservation surgery for uterine prolapse, and additional surgery, such as Manchester surgery, may be needed to solve the problem. Thus the aim of this study is to investigate the risk factors of co-existence of cervical elongation in uterine prolapse.

Personalized Targeted Therapy in Refractory or Relapsed Cancer in Childhood

Pediatric Cancer

A new research paradigm that involves sequencing tumor DNA/RNA to identify driver mutations, select among the Health Canada approved drugs (for adult cancers) known to block certain oncogenic pathways, and recommend these drugs to the treating physician, without taking into account the tumor histology. In this paradigm, the treatment is targeted to the actionable mutation(s) i.e. those driving oncogenesis. It is also personalized to the molecular signature of the patient's tumor, irrespective of its histopathological subtype. The experience of the investigators team in genomics, including next generation sequencing and bioinformatic analysis combined with the clinical expertise, bring at last this approach within our technical capacities. In parallel, the number of Health Canada-approved drugs (which have been tested in a pediatric setting) designed to interfere with oncogenesis pathways is increasing exponentially.

Resting State Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging Study of Jaundice Infants Before and After Light...

Jaundice

It is just an observation study. The investigates want to explore the signal changes of resting state functional Magnetic resonance Imaging (fMRI) after light treatment in jaundice infants. Signal changes contain blood oxygenation level dependent (BOLD) and arterial spin labeling (ASL).Indicator of BOLD is amplitude of low-frequency fluctuation(ALFF).Indicator of ASL is cerebral blood flow (CBF). The investigates assume that the children with jaundice after light therapy, ALFF and CBF will change. Focus on the globus pallidus and subthalamic nuclei. The two brain regions were proved to be abnormal in MRI T1, T2 structure signal in kernicterus. Doctors observe the status of infants aside.Using monitoring probe can see clearly.

Factors Affecting the Incidence of Postoperative Delirium in Frail Elderly

Postoperative Delirium

Postoperative delirium has been found to be associated with increased risk of future neurocognitive decline and mortality especially in elderly patients. Similarly, Frailty has been found to be associated with an increased risk of postoperative complication including delirium in the elderly. The purpose of this study is determine the factors affecting the incidence of postoperative delirium in frail elderly undergoing non-cardiac surgery in the Singapore population.

VASCULUX-examination of the Pulmonary VASCUlar Barrier in Patients During LUng Transplantation

End Stage Chronic Obstructive Airways Disease

Lung transplantation is a well established method for surgical therapy for patients with end stage pulmonary disease. The investigators seek to determine to which extent the pulmonary vascular barrier gets harmed during lung transplantation and whether pulmonary edema after reperfusion can be monitored with measurement of extravascular lung water index (ELWI). Additionally the investigaors are going to evaluate the correlation between ELWI and shedding of the endothelial glycocalyx. The study is designed as a prospective observational cohort study.

Telomere Biology in Early Adenocarcinoma of the Lung

Adenocarcinoma of the LungAdenocarcinoma1 more

Early adenocarcinoma of the lung has an excellent five-year survival after resection. However, its clinical and radiologic presentation is highly variable. Traditional means for preoperative diagnosis such as Positron Emission Tomography (PET-CT) and trans-thoracic needle biopsy demonstrate unacceptable false positive and negative rates. Telomere biology is activated aberrantly is most lung cancers but has not been studied in early stages to the best of our knowledge. The objective of this study is to evaluate telomere length and activity with suspected early stage adenocarcinoma of the lung.

Possible Manifestation of Rhinitis After Nasal Fracture

Nasal Fracture

We would like to investigate our hypothesis of a higher prevalence of nasal fracture in the history of idiopathic rhinitis (IR) patients compared to healthy controls. Therefore a retrospective analysis of 310 patients with a nasal fracture in the past would be useful to investigate the incidence of IR in this cohort afterwards (5-10 y later).
