Biomarkers for Gynecologic Cancer

Ovarian CancerEndometrial Cancer1 more

A novel blood metabolic biomarker, AminoIndexTM (gynecological), was developed for gynecological cancers from over 400 Japanese patient's plasma free amino acid profiles (PFAAs) by a rapid and sensitive LC-MS (Liquid Chromatography - Mass Spectrometry), followed by multivariate statistical analyses. However, further studies to assess whether this biomarker demonstrates the same performance characteristics in non-Japanese populations for cancer is yet to be determined.

Genetic and Demographic Factors That Influence the Pain and Progress of Labor

Rapid Progress of Labor

The purpose of this study is to try to understand why the experience of labor differs among women. The investigators want to understand why some women have longer or shorter labors and why the amount of pain women experience is different. The investigators hope to be able to consider women more individually in terms of their pain and progress of labor.

Chronic Pain and Social Vulnerability: Prevalence and Predictive Factors of the Social Vulnerability...

Chronic Pain

In the care of the chronic pain in pain's department, pain consultation or Evaluation and Treatment of the Pain Center (CETD), the patients are often in a situation of physical and psychic suffering which requires a multidisciplinary follow-up. So, 19 percent of the chronic painful patients lost their employment, are "disintegrated" because of their pain, this being able to provocate a loss of their financial autonomy. A large number of painful patients thus find themselves in situations of social vulnerability even of precariousness often denied and difficult to detect by the caring team. Precarity is define as " the lack of one or several securities, in particular the employment, allowing the people and the families to assume their professional, family or social obligations, and to enjoy their fundamental rights." To allow a earlier identification of the populations in deprivation situation, the questionnaire EPICES (Evaluation of the Precariousness and the Disparities of health for the Centers of Examination of Health (CES)) was administered to more than 7000 people. The individual score, indicator of the precariousness and the disparities of health, is calculated after answer to 11 questions and was calculated on about 200 000 French people. Among numerous indicators, it appears that the consumption of psychotropics or a negative perception of the health are socioeconomic indicators, mode of life and health which are prevailing according to the quintiles of the score EPICES. This national study, on the French CETD aims is: 1 - to study prevalence of the social vulnerability even of the precariousness thanks to adapted questionnaires of which the questionnaire EPICES, 2 - to identify predictive social-economic factors which generate and amplify this circumstance, 3 - to identify the patients for whom a situation of precariousness and social vulnerability is proved true, justifying the earlier orientation towards the social worker of the Center so allowing a "global" care of the patient during the second visit

Telomeres and Arterial Aging

Atherosclerotic Disease

The prevailing view in telomere epidemiology is that leukocyte telomere length (LTL) is associated with atherosclerosis and accelerated aging since it serves as a biomarker of the cumulative burden of inflammation and oxidative stress during adult life. Our recent results however, indicate that telomere length (TL) is mainly determined at birth and childhood. Since short telomeres ante cede atherosclerosis, the investigators hypothesize that TL is not just a simple marker, but a real determinant of arterial aging. That is because TL reflects cellular repair capacity and a short LTL denotes diminished repair reserves. This hypothesis cannot be tested by measurements of LTL alone, since this parameter reflects TL at birth and its age-dependent attrition thereafter. The investigators propose, therefore, a model that makes it possible to examine different elements of TL dynamics in different tissues: leukocytes, skeletal muscle, endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs), skin or subcutaneous fat in patients with or without atherosclerosis. Our model is based on the following premises, which are derived from observations that TL is synchronized (equivalent) across somatic tissues/cells of the newborn: TL in skeletal muscle mainly reflects TL at birth The difference in TL between muscle and leukocytes in adults (approximately 1.5 Kbp) mainly reflects LTL attrition during the growth period, i.e., childhood/adolescence TL in EPCs determines the cell proliferative ability and therefore capacity for vessels repair during aging. The general aim of the present project is to examine the links of arterial aging with TL, as expressed in different tissues, and LTL dynamics, as expressed in the difference between TLs of muscle and leukocytes.

Quantitative Determination of Brain Water Content in Patients During and After Hepatic Encepalopathy...

Hepatic Encephalopathy

There is increasing evidence that the pathophysiology of hepatic encephalopathy (HE) is tightly associated with low-grade cerebral edema. Uptake of ammonia in astrocytes leads to osmotic swelling caused by glutamine formation. Previous studies were performed in covert HE patients or used indirect methods. Methods: The investigators wish to describes quantitative measurement of localized water content using MRI water mapping in a cohort of patients with cirrhosis during an episode of overt HE type C and again after recovery. Furthermore patients with cirrhosis and no history of HE and healthy subjects will be investigated as controls.

Health Status Evaluation for Cancer Survivors by Non-intrusive Sensing System

Cancer

To improve quality of life of elderly cancer survivors Using physical activity and environmental sensing technology Monitoring physiological indicators of cancer recurrence Analyzing the patient's circadian rhythm, frailty and his/her vital sign. Vital sign includes blood pressure, weight and hrv. Collecting the patient information in real time Giving alarm information to the patient, if any special cases our system found. Giving circadian rhythm report to the patient. Giving healthy report to the patient, collected from his/her vital sign.

Screening Cardiovascular Patients for Aortic aNeurysms (SCAN)

Abdominal Aortic AneurysmAAA

The aim of the cohort study SCAN (Screening Cardiovascular patients for Aortic aNeurysms) is to establish a screening programm for patients with a high risk for an AAA. Aortic aneurysms in these patients should be identified at an early stage and thereby AAA-associated mortality be decreased.

A Pre-endoscopic Prediction Model for Inadequate Bowel Preparation in Patients Receiving Split Dose...

Colonoscopy

After written consent for participating in clinical research studies, all clinical studies conducted to in the one day. The investigators will ask and record about bowel cleansing state in all patients who performed colonoscopy. There is no additional cost and the expected complications. Based on answer, the investigators will develop a prediction model for inadequate bowel preparation and prove validation. This model can take the additional measures to subjects predicting improper cleansing. It can contribute to improve the accuracy of the test and reduce the discomfort due to re-performing colonoscopy after re-preparation, as well as cost savings due to reduced frequency of re-colonoscopy Ultimately, it will be able to bring a improvement of the quality of management

Lung Function, LCI, Bronchial Inflammation and Epigenetics of Patients With BO

Bronchiolitis Obliterans

Bronchiolitis obliterans is a chronic disease in which a persistent inflammatory process leads to obliteration of the small airways. Pulmonary function tests (body plethysmography with DLCO, lung clearance index) are performed and the fraction of exhaled nitric oxide is measured. A blood test is following to determine the inflammatory status und collect miRNA. Induced Sputum will be obtained.
