Vismodegib Combined With Atezolizumab in Platinum Resistant Ovarian, Fallopian Tube, and Primary...
Platinum-Resistant Fallopian Tube CarcinomaPlatinum-Resistant Primary Peritoneal Carcinoma2 moreThis trial will treat patients with platinum resistant ovarian, fallopian tube or primary peritoneal cancer as defined by a progression free interval within six months of completion of most recent platinum-based treatment with a combination of vismodegib and atezolizumab. Despite recent improvements in treatment of ovarian cancer with the introduction of PARP inhibitors, response rates to therapy in the platinum resistant setting remain dismal with response rates of only 10-20% reported for single agent cytotoxic therapies. Given the poor prognosis and limited treatment options for these patients, this population is considered appropriate for trials of novel therapeutic candidates.
Safety and Efficacy of CEA-targeted CAR-T for CEA-positive Advanced Malignant Solid Tumors
Gastric CancerColon Cancer3 moreThis study is a single-arm, open-label, dose-escalating + dose-expansion clinical study, aiming to evaluate the safety and efficacy of CEA-targeted CAR-T cell preparations, and to preliminarily observe the study drug in CEA-positive advanced malignant tumors. The pharmacokinetic characteristics of CAR-T cell preparations for the treatment of patients with CEA-positive advanced malignancies were obtained and the recommended dose and infusion schedule.

Alzheimer DiseaseMild Cognitive ImpairmentIt is a prospective interventional randomized controlled single center trial. The goal of the trial is to evaluate the efficacy of smart soup on cognition, behavior, biomarkers and safety in Alzheimer's disease (aMCI and dementia).
Efficacy of L-Ornithine L-Aspartate (LOLA) as an Adjunct to Branched Chain Amino Acids (BCAA) Enriched...
Hepatic EncephalopathyOne of the most significant goals of hepatic encephalopathy (HE) treatment is to reduce ammonia levels by lowering its synthesis and enhancing its detoxification which can be achieved by using non-absorbable disaccharides, antibiotics, branched-chain amino acids (BCAA), L-ornithine L-aspartate (LOLA), and probiotics. LOLA decreases ammonia, therefore, it is presumed to decrease agitated delirium in HE patients and thus decrease their need for other sedatives. On the other hand, BCAA improve mental function in HE patients by increasing the detoxification of ammonia in muscles.

Improving Mental Health Among the LGBTQ+ Community
AnxietyDepressionThe overall aim of this program of research is to improve the mental health of people who identify as LGBTQ+ by increasing their social support through a brief intervention. The purpose of the proposed project is to establish the effectiveness of our empirically-supported, brief acceptance-based behavioral therapy (ABBT). To achieve the specific aims, the investigators will conduct a fully-powered, randomized clinical trial (n=240) with two treatment arms: treatment-as-usual (TAU) vs. ABBT.
An Acupuncture Study for Prostate Cancer Survivors With Urinary Issues
SurvivorshipProstate CancerThe purpose of this study is to test whether acupuncture can improve nocturia in prostate cancer survivors. This is the first time acupuncture is being studied for nocturia in prostate cancer survivors. Researchers will see if acupuncture is a practical treatment option for prostate cancer survivors with nocturia. The study will also look at the effect acupuncture has on nocturia and other symptoms prostate cancer survivors experience such as insomnia, hot flashes, anxiety, depression, tiredness (fatigue), sexual dysfunction, and cognitive (mental) difficulties.
Pilot Study of TENS for Ocular Pain
Eye PainApproximately 20% of Veterans have a diagnosis of dry eye (DE) syndrome which is often accompanied by ocular pain that significantly impacts activities of daily living. Currently very few treatments are available for chronic ocular pain, likely because the mechanisms underlying this type of pain have only recently begun to be studied. New treatments that target the neuropathic mechanisms contributing to this type of pain are needed. The proposed research provides a crucial step in addressing the lack of treatments for neuropathic ocular pain by validating the methodology needed to support a randomized controlled trial of transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS). TENS is a non-pharmacologic, non-addictive, non-invasive treatment that has been shown to be effective in other chronic pain conditions. The present pilot study aims to address the need for preliminary support of safety and efficacy of TENS for ocular pain, t to advance the study of new treatments for the long-term relief of chronic ocular pain and its impact on health.
