Study to Evaluate the Efficacy, Safety, Tolerability and Pharmacokinetics of AZD1386 in Patients...

Pain

The primary aim of this study is to investigate if AZD1386 is efficacious as an analgesic in patients with osteoarthritis of the knee and at what dose. This will be done by comparing the effect of AZD1386 to placebo ("inactive substance") on pain.

Study of the Effect of Neck Treatment on Shoulder Impingement

Shoulder ImpingementShoulder Pain2 more

The purpose of this pilot study is to conduct research to determine the most effective physical therapy treatment for a condition called shoulder impingement. This condition occurs when tissue in the shoulder is caught between the humerus (arm bone) and the scapula (shoulder blade). This causes pain when one tries to reach overhead or behind the back. Two treatment methods will be used in the study. The first method uses the traditional treatments of hands-on shoulder stretching, shoulder exercise, posture, and education. The second method will use the traditional methods of shoulder treatment in addition to treatment of the cervical spine. It is hypothesized that a group of patients between 40 and 70 years of age with signs and symptoms of shoulder impingement who receive physical therapy to the cervical spine and shoulder will report a higher level of functioning, will report less pain, and will gain more range of motion than a group of patients receiving physical therapy solely to the shoulder.

CRx-102 Osteoarthritis Multicenter Evaluation Trial

Knee Osteoarthritis

CRx-102 is a synergistic combination drug candidate containing the cardiovascular drug dipyridamole and a very low dose of the glucocorticoid prednisolone. CRx-102 is believed to work through a novel mechanism of action in which dipyridamole selectively amplifies the anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory activities of the glucocorticoid without replicating the dose-dependent adverse effects. CRx-102 has been associated with clinical benefit in proof of concept studies in subjects with hand OA and RA. This is the first study to explore the efficacy of CRx-102 in knee OA. It is considered a dose-finding study and will also compare the potential benefits of CRx-102 treatment to both prednisolone administered alone and to placebo in this indication.

A Randomised Multi-centre Study to Compare the Short-term Outcomes of Minimally Invasive and Conventional...

Osteoarthritis(Primary)

The purpose of this study is to compare the short-term outcomes of two surgical techniques, minimally invasive and conventional, when used in the treatment of patients with hip joint disease requiring a total hip replacement. Patients who enter the study will be randomly allocated to undergo surgery using the minimally invasive or conventional surgical technique and will be evaluated at regular intervals following hip surgery using patient, clinical and x-ray assessments with a focus on short term rehabilitation.

Knee Injection RCT

Osteoarthritis

Hypothesis: Ketorolac injection is a cost-effective adjunct in the nonoperative treatment of knee osteoarthritis (OA) compared to steroids and viscosupplementation. Aims/objectives: The objective of this randomized, controlled, double-blinded, prospective study is to assess the efficacy and cost-effectiveness of knee injection with ketorolac in the nonsurgical management of symptomatic OA compared to injections with corticosteroids and viscosupplements.

The Effect of AposTherapy on Knee Pain

Knee OsteoarthritisKnee Pain

AposTherapy is a home based exercise program utilizing footwear that causes exercise with normal activity that may significantly improve function in patients with knee osteoarthritis since patients with knee osteoarthritis have altered mechanics of motion contributing or due to the presence of the conditions. Capitalizing on the reported excellent adherence and clinical benefit of ApostTherapy in patients with significant knee OA, the investigators propose to evaluate this as a conservative treatment that may supplant/supplement traditional pain medications and physical therapy in an at-risk urban inner city population.
