A Comparison of Two School Based Interventions to Manage Anxiety in Autistic Students
Autism Spectrum DisorderAnxiety Disorders1 moreThe goal of this clinical trial is to compare two school based interventions to manage anxiety in autistic students. The main question[s] it aims to answer are: 1) Compare the effectiveness of Facing Your Fears-School Based Program (FYF-SB) with Zones of Regulation (ZOR) on anxiety reduction and emotion regulation; and 2) examine the feasibility and satisfaction of FYF-SB and ZOR, according to students, caregivers and school providers. Autistic students with anxiety between 8-14 years will be randomized to either FYF-SB and ZOR. They will participate in one of the programs for 12 weeks and pre, post and follow-up measures will occur.
Precision TMS Treatment Guided by Personalized Brain Functional Sectors (pBFS) for ASD

Parent Led Implementation of a VR Social Skills Training Program for Children With ASD
Autism Spectrum DisorderThe goal of this interventional trial is to establish training protocols to show feasibility of training parents and caregivers to administer the VR protocol. The primary objective is to evaluate the effects of treatment with Floreo Building Social Connections (BSC) on the AIM, a parent report survey that assesses core symptoms of ASD. The secondary objective is to explore the changes in social skills over time by using a multimethod outcomes battery. The Investigators will evaluate the effect of treatment with Floreo BSC on the Childhood Autism Rating Scales (CARS-2) in the study patient population. Additional secondary objectives include evaluation of the effects of treatment on adaptive skills as measured by the Vineland-3. Participants will be asked to complete questionnaires and utilize the VR program at clinic and at home.
DINO RCT - Treating Anxiety in Children With Autism
Autism Spectrum DisorderAnxiety DisordersAnxiety is prevalent in young children, under 7 years of age, with autism. Yet, few studies have examined anxiety interventions for this age range, and only one anxiety treatment study has included young children with cognitive and language delays. Anxiety treatment models utilizing cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), adapted for children with autism, are empirically supported in school-age autistic children. Further, preliminary evidence suggests CBT approaches may reduce intolerance of uncertainty (IU), a mechanistic construct that may contribute to the maintenance of anxiety in autistic children. This study seeks to address the existing gap in anxiety treatment by examining the feasibility and preliminary efficacy of a novel, telehealth CBT intervention, DINO Strategies for Anxiety and intolerance of Uncertainty Reduction (DINOSAUR), which targets both anxiety and IU in young autistic children.

HEARTS R34 Feasibility Study, Autistic Participants
Autism Spectrum DisorderThe goal of this randomized clinical trial is to test whether the 6 sessions HEARTS Healthy Relationships classes increases the satisfaction that autistic adults feel about their friendships and dating relationships compared to a 6 weeks online discussion group. The 6 HEARTS sessions cover: healthy and unhealthy relationships, launching new relationships, neurohealth, meeting and reconnecting, boundaries, and healthy endings. Participants who take part in this research study will be in this research study for three months. During this time, participants will be asked to complete two 30-minute and six 10-minute online surveys, and participate in two 20-minute interviews over Zoom.
Super: a Joint System in a Rehabilitation Educational Digital Platform
Autism Spectrum DisorderTelerehabilitationDue to its complexity and variability, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) requires multidisciplinary and multidimensional interventions. SUPER (in Italian: Sistema Unitario in una Piattaforma Riabilitativa ed Educativa) is an Italian digital platform, implemented to facilitate collaboration between families, health services, and schools and to promote personalized intervention for children with ASD. The research protocol, aimed to test SUPER's feasibility and usability, foresees the enrollment of 12 ASD children in the Experimental Group (EG) and 12 ASD children for the Control Group. All families, teachers, and clinicians will perform usual rehabilitative and educative interventions, but the EG will use SUPER, in addition to ordinary programs. The feasibility and acceptability of SUPER will be assessed through usability scales and questionnaires realized ad hoc for the purpose. At baseline and established endpoints, ASD patients will be evaluated with different assessment tools.
Impact of Mixed Reality Training on Motor Skills in Children With Autistic Spectrum Disorder
Autistic Spectrum DisorderPeople with autistic spectrum disorder frequently present impaired motricity, or at least different motricity from neurotypical subjects (walking; postural balance; fine motor skills; motor control, etc.). Motor impairment can have impact on the performance and learning of simple tasks (bathing, dressing, writing, using tools, etc.), especially in children and teenagers. These last years, new therapeutics such as Virtual, Augmented and Mixed Reality technologies have developed. Their therapeutic interest has been identified in various pathologies like phobia. However, their influence on motor skills has been little studied. The first results obtained with disabled adults described a significant increase in walking speed after a 3-month Mixed Reality training.
Leveraging Autism Intervention for Families Using Telehealth (LIFT)
Autism Spectrum DisorderThe purpose of the LIFT study is to develop a technology-assisted adaptation of the JASPER (Joint Attention, Symbolic Play, Engagement, and Regulation: Kasari et al., 2021) social communication intervention for young children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). In partnership with community early intervention (EI) and early childhood special education (ECSE) practitioners in Oregon, implementation strategies to help caregivers learn to the use the intervention strategies with their young children will delivered in a pilot randomized trial. The pilot trial will compare primarily self-directed learning through online materials and brief practitioner support (ONLINE) with the addition of live synchronous coaching (ONLINE + COACH) on caregivers' strategy use (primary) and children's joint engagement and social communication (secondary).
