LOw Level of Activity (LOLA): Education and Exercise-based Intervention for Low Back Pain

Low Back Pain

Chronic pain of moderate to severe intensity occurs in 19% of adult Europeans. Non-specific low-back pain is one of the most prevalent symptoms and the main cause of disability in industrialized countries, generating significant public health expenditure on health and occupational care. The combination of pain neurophysiology education and therapeutic exercise has shown positive effects in patients with chronic non-specific low back pain. Mobile health tools (mHealth) are proposed as a cost-effective alternative to continuously record the daily activities of patients and to provide rapid feedback to users and clinicians, reducing visits to clinics. A 4-week (8-session) education and exercise-based intervention will be carried out in a group of patients with non-specific chronic low back pain using two modalities: (1) face-to-face guided by a health professional or (2) self-managed through BackFit App. The sample will be divided into two groups and will be evaluated before (pre), after (post) and 3 months (follow-up) after the intervention.

Chronic Low-back Pain

This study is being done to test the safety and efficacy of the study drug LY3556050 for the treatment of chronic low back pain. This trial is part of the chronic pain master protocol (H0P-MC-CPMP) which is a protocol to accelerate the development of new treatments for chronic pain.

Effect of Regular Electrotherapy in Patients With Chronic Non-specific Neck Pain and Low-back Pain...

Chronic Low-back PainChronic Pain1 more

This randomized controlled double-blinded pilot trial was performed in the Medical University of Vienna, Department of Special Anesthesia and Pain Medicine between 2015 and 2018. Aim of the study was to assess the effect of regular electrotherapy applied on the spinal cord of patients with chronic non-specific neck pain and/or low-back pain. The hypothesis was that subjective feeling of pain, range of motion of the cervical and lumbar region, as well as the activity in daily living improved after weekly electrotherapy sessions for 30 min each.

Effects of Rhythmic Stabilization and Mckenzie Techniques on Non Specific Chronic Low Back Pain...

Back Pain

Non-specific low back pain is defined as low back pain not attributable to an identifiable, known specific pathology. Non-specific low back pain accounts for over 90% of patients presenting to primary care and these are the majority of the individuals with low back pain that present to physiotherapy. Objective of this study is to compare the effects of rhythmic stabilization and McKenzie technique on pain and function in patients with non-specific chronic low back pain

Myofascial Release Technique vs Posterior-anterior Glide on Non-specific Low Back Pain

Low Back Pain

The objective of this randomized control trial is to determine the effectiveness of myofascial release in patients with nonspecific low back pain to improve Pain, Disability, and Quality of life This study is being conducted at the Outpatient Physiotherapy department of Sindh Institute of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Karachi (former institute of Dow University of Health Sciences) and Musculoskeletal outpatient department of Dr. Ruth K. M. Pfau, Civil Hospital Karachi among 72 patients with nonspecific back pain on the basis of non-probability purposive sample technique with screening for study criteria through a consultant physician (blinded). After taking informed consent, all participants will be randomly allocated into two groups through a second researcher who is not involved in screening, baseline assessment, and providing intervention. Group 1 will receive myofascial release with generalized low back stretching and thermotherapy and Group 2 will receive Posterior-anterior glide with generalized low back stretching and thermotherapy. A total of 18 sessions will be provided. Outcomes will be assessed at baseline, at the last session, and after 12 weeks of follow-up.

Efficacy of Two Types of Non-invasive Erector Spinae Muscle Taut Band Therapy in University Students...

Low Back PainTrigger Point Pain1 more

Non-specific low back pain can be caused by the presence of active trigger points in the muscles of the lumbopelvic region. Trigger points are defined as hypersensitive points within a taut band of a musculoskeletal system that cause pain during contraction, stretching, or stimulation of said muscle. If these points are active, they can trigger referred pain, local tenderness, and vegetative responses. There is scientific evidence of the improvement of the treatment of these points through non-invasive manual techniques. The objective of this study will be to determine the effect of Strain Counterstrain and Myofascial Induction techniques in subjects with low back pain secondary to the presence of active trigger points in the lumbopelvic region. Hyperexcitable myofascial trigger points located within a taut band of skeletal muscle or fascia cause referred pain, local tenderness, and autonomic changes. The scientific data refer to an immediate improvement in the symptoms of these active points treated with manual therapy. Based on these factors, the objective of the study is to determine the effect of the combined therapy of the Strain Counterstrain technique and Myofascial Induction in participants with the presence of an active trigger point in the erector spinae muscle.

Pilates in Women With Chronic Low Back Pain

Back PainLow

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect of a Pilates exercise program (PEP) on the flexo-relaxation ratio (FRR) of the erector spinae (ES) muscle during standing maximal trunk flexion/extension in women with chronic low-back pain (LBP). A secondary goal is to investigate the effect of PEP on full trunk flexion ROM (TFRoM), pain intensity and functional capacity and analyse their relationship with the FRR.
