Diet, Body Composition, Lifestyle and Cardiovascular Health of Healthy and Active Adults From Slovenia...
DietHealthy5 moreThere is objective need to evaluate the differences in dietary intake (DI), body composition (BC), lifestyle (LS) and cardiovascular diseases (CVD) risk factors between healthy and active vegetarinas (VEG) and non vegetarians (non VEG) and references (according to gender). The aim of this cross-sectional study for investigators is to document the potential differences in DI (non adjusted and adjusted), BC, LS and CVD risk factors between healthy and active VEG and non VEG, aged from 18 to 80 years, and to evaluated correlation between DI variables and CVD risk factors. The study during the COVID-19 pandemic period will be self-reported. As variables the investigators will include the dietary intake, BC (body height, body weight, body mass index (BMI), body fat percentage (BF %)), lifestyle status (physical activity, daily seating, hygiene of sleep, socio-economic status, and motive for practicing chosen diet). The investigators will also record their maximum (lifetime) body weight, lipids (total-cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, HDL-cholesterol, and triglycerides) and blood pressure (BP) status. The investigators hypothesis are: (H1): There are differences in DI and quality of the diet (compared with references). (H2): There are differences in BC between the VEG in non VEG (according to gender). (H3): The are no differences between in CVD risk factors between the VEG and non VEG (according to gender). (H4): The are no differences in the effect of two intervals of time restricted feeding (i.e., 8-12 hours vs. 12-16 hours) within dietary pattern (according to gender).
Family Healthy Living Early Intervention Program
ObesityHealth Behavior4 moreThe Childhood Healthy Weights Early Intervention Program (EIP) is a family-based pilot program that will promote healthy lifestyle practices for families whose children are off the healthy weight trajectory (e.g., BMI ≥ 85th percentile for age and sex) that do not need the intensive services of medically supervised programs. It is a lifestyle behaviour approach for promoting healthy weights in children. The EIP program consists of 10 weekly intervention sessions (1.5 hours per session) followed by 4 maintenance sessions and is age specific (age 8-12). During the intervention, participants will also have access to digital educational content that is supplementary to what is provided during the individual sessions. The program will be integrated and aligned with existing BC-specific childhood healthy weights programs (e.g. the HealthLinkBC Eating and Activity Program for Kids). The EIP pilot will run from October-December 2018 with 8 child programs (age 8-12). Participants who do not qualify for this program (e.g., BMI ≤ 85th percentile for age and sex) will be offered a 10 week online program which is similar in educational content as the EIP program.

Explorations Into the Mechanism for INSTI-associated Weight Gain: a Focus on Energy Balance
HIV-1-infectionWeight GainWeight gain following antiretroviral therapy (ART) initiation occurs with all modern regimens. Recent real-world reports suggest that integrase strand transfer inhibitor (INSTI)-based ART may be associated with excess weight gain compared to other regimens. Weight gain appears to occur regardless of baseline weight, and is most pronounced among women and minorities, often those at highest risk of obesity-associated comorbidities. INSTI- and TAF-based regimens are now preferred regimens for most persons according to the Department of Health and Human Services ART-Treatment Guidelines. As a result, there is an urgent need to understand the underlying mechanisms for this weight gain. This study aims to understand the changes in energy balance that occur with changes in ART. Participants with HIV who have experienced >10% weight gain on INSTI (bictegravir or dolutegravir-based therapy) will be switched to doravirine for 12 weeks, and then back to their prior INSTI regimen, allowing for assessment of changes in metabolic parameters with drug withdrawal and reintroduction (with no change to NRTI-backbone). Twenty-four hour energy balance will be measured on both regimens during a 24-hour stay using a whole room indirect calorimetry, with a standardized diet. Ultimately, the investigator's goal is to understand the mechanisms of weight gain so that future interventions can most effectively mitigate ART-associated weight changes.
