The Efficacy and Safety of Cleviprex in Ventriculostomy Patients Requiring IV Antihypertensive Therapy...

HypertensionIntracranial Hemorrhage1 more

This study is a single-arm, open label protocol evaluating the use of Cleviprex to rapidly control hypertension in patients who present with intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) or subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH), and that require ICP monitoring via ventriculostomy (External Ventricular Drain or EVD).

Detection of Microplastics and Nanoplastics in Neurosurgery Patients (DT-MiNi)

Carotid Artery StenosisGlioma3 more

Plastic particles are a ubiquitous pollutant in the living environment and food chain, so far, plenty of studies have reported the internal exposure of microplastics and nanoplastics in human tissues and enclosed body fluids. Neurosurgery is the only department that can open the skull. In addition to blood and cerebrospinal fluid, there are brain tissue and tumors in the presence of lesions. Whether any of these microplastics and nanoplastics are present remains a mystery. This prospective observational study will harvest biological samples of neurosurgery patients. The objective of this research is to be able to detect microplastics and nanoplastics on blood and operation samples of neurosurgery patients.

MIECH: The Minimally Invasive Endoscopic Surgery With the Axonpen System for Spontaneous Intracerebral...

Intracerebral HemorrhageCerebral Hemorrhage2 more

The primary objective of this trial is to provide preliminary safety data of minimally invasive endoscopic surgery using the Axonpen™ system for spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH). The effectiveness of the Axonpen™ system in early hematoma removal and the surgical impact on subject's functional recovery will also be evaluated. The Axonpen™ system, consisting of a neuroendoscope (Axonpen) and a monitor (Axonmonitor), is cleared by FDA and indicated for the illumination and visualization of intracranial tissue and fluids and the controlled aspiration of tissue and/or fluid during surgery of the ventricular system or cerebrum.

Feasibility of Improving Cerebral Autoregulation in Acute Intracerebral Haemorrhage

StrokeAcute3 more

In the UK, 23,000 (15%) of the 150,000 people who suffer a stroke each year have bleeding in the brain, also referred to as acute intracerebral haemorrhage (ICH). An Autoregulation Index (ARI) can be assigned between 0 and 9 (0 being poor and 9 being the most efficient CA observed) to gauge how good the control over blood flow is at a given time. Dynamic CA (dCA) is a measure of the response of cerebral blood flow (CBF) to rapid changes in blood pressure (BP), and several key studies have shown impaired dCA post-acute ICH. The most recent study demonstrated that dCA impairment lasts up to 12 days. This is particularly important to understand, since our preliminary work has recently shown that changes in carbon dioxide using simple breathing exercises can improve Autoregulation. Unfortunately, there are limited non-pharmacological management options and significant opportunities to improve patient outcome in ICH. The proposed study addresses this area, by investigating whether a simple breathing exercise in survivors of ICH is safe, feasible and effective in reducing brain injury by improving cerebral autoregulation.

A Study to Test the SENSE Device in Patients With Intracranial Hemorrhage

Intracerebral HemorrhageStroke2 more

The purpose of this research study is to find out whether a device for monitoring bleeding in patients with acute hemorrhagic stroke will show similar findings as CT scans performed to evaluate the stroke.

PreventIon of IMT Progression in iSchemic Stroke Patients With High Risk of Cerebral HemOrrhage-IMT...

Brain IschemiaIntracranial Hemorrhages

Through this study, the investigators are to prove that Cilostazol effectively prevent progression of intima-medial thickness in ischemic stroke patients with high risk of cerebral hemorrhage, along with no significant increase in the risk of occurrence of hemorrhagic side effects. The primary hypothesis of this study is; Cilostazol alone or with probucol will reduce the progression of intima-medial thickness compared to aspirin in the ischemic stroke patients with symptomatic or asymptomatic old cerebral hemorrhage.

Effect of Erythropoietin in Premature Infants on White Matter Lesions and Neurodevelopmental Outcome...

Premature InfantsIntracranial Hemorrhages2 more

Preterm and very preterm infants are at risk of developing encephalopathy of prematurity and long-term neurodevelopmental delay. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) allows the characterization of specific features of encephalopathy of prematurity, including structural changes of brain white matter and gray matter. This study wants to investigate important evidence that early repeated high-dose rhEPO(5250 IU/kg) treatment improves long-term neurological outcomes in very preterm infants and without obvious adverse effects.

PRONTO: Artemis in the Removal of Intraventricular Hemorrhage in the Hyper-Acute Phase

Intracerebral HemorrhageBrain Hemorrhage1 more

The purpose of this prospective, single center, single arm registry is to assess technical feasibility, peri-procedural complications, post-procedure imaging outcomes, and 30-day safety outcomes in subjects with intraventricular hemorrhages utilizing the Artemis Neuro Evacuation Device in the hyper-acute phase.

Safety, Tolerability and Pharmacokinetics of Y-2(Edaravone And Borneol) Sublingual Tablet

StrokeAcute1 more

The primary objective is to evaluate the safety and tolerability of single ascending dose of Y-2 sublingual tablets in healthy male and female adult subjects. The secondary objective is to characterize the single-dose pharmacokinetics of Y-2 sublingual tablets in healthy male and female adult subjects.

Decompressive Craniectomy Combined With Hematoma Removal to Treat ICH

Intracranial Hemorrhages

Decompressive craniectomy has been reported for the treatment of patients with intracerebral hemorrhage. But no prospective randomised controlled trials have yet been undertaken to confirm its effect. The purpose of the study is to determine whether decompressive craniectomy post hematoma removal surgery after intracerebral hemorrhage will reduce the chances of a person dying or surviving with a long term disability.
