Victus Versus Conventional

Cataract

Cataract surgery is among the world's most frequently performed operations. It involves removal of an opaque lens from the human eye and implantation of an artificial lens. The operation is performed under local anaesthesia using ultrasound technology, by which the lens is emulsified and removed by suction. Femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery is a new innovative surgical procedure that can improve the quality of cataract surgery and provide a new best possible standard of quality. In contrast to the conventional method the capsulotomy and the fragemntation are fully automatically performed with a femtosecond laser. In addition, the lens is fragmented by the laser, which substantially facilitates its removal and reduces the operation time. Study to investigate whether the femtosecond laser cataract surgery causes any significant differences in clinical outcomes as compared to the conventional, manual continuous curvilinear capsulorhexis (CCC). Effective phako time (EPT) is defined as duration of phakoemulsifikation of the crystalline lens. EPT of conventional surgery at intraoperative visit > EPT oflaser-assisted surgery at intraoperative visit

Assessment of the Effect of Clonidine for Cataract Surgery

PainArrythmia

Clonidine, an agonist for alfa2 pre-synaptic, has been shown to be an effective adjuvant therapy for acute postoperative pain and has been shown an effect in sedative, intra-ocular and blood pressure and arrhythmias. The objective of this study is evaluating the analgesic effect of clonidine and its repercussion on arterial and intraocular pressure and arrhythmias for cataract surgery.

Effect of Minimising Ultrasound Power to 1% During Cataract Surgery on Corneal Endothelium.

Cataract

Coaxial microincision cataract surgery using 1% ultrasound is not inferior to standard coaxial microincision cataract surgery in patients of grade 0.1-6.0 immature senile cataract in terms of corneal endothelial safety.

The Effect of Cataract Surgery on Sleep Quality

CataractSleep

A cataract is a clouding of the crystalline lens inside the eye, which leads to a decrease in vision. It is the most prevalent, treatable cause of visual impairment and blindness in the world. Cataract surgery with an intraocular lens (IOL) implant is one of the most common and thought to be the most effective surgical procedure in any field of medicine. In this trial, the investigators aimed to evaluate the effect of cataract surgery on circadian rhythm and sleep as well as the effect of the blue light transmission characteristics of the implanted IOL on sleep.

Bypassing Anesthesiologist Assessment Before Cataract Surgery: a Non Inferiority Study

Cataract

This study aims to demonstrate that presurgical assessement of patients' risk factors and surveillance during surgery, both performed by nurses, are not inferior to anesthetic team's care, concerning the rate of complications in cataract surgery with topical anesthesia. The nurse performs the triage of patients based on a chart of risk factors assessment. The triage, according to the presence or not of risk factors, leads to patients' care by an anesthetic team (medical anesthesist for pre-surgical assessement and anesthetic nurse for surveillance during surgery) or to patients' pre-surgical assessement and surveillance during surgery both performed only by nurses. In the control group, all patients are taken care of by an aesthetic team, with medical pre surgical assessement and surveillance during surgery both performed by anesthetic nurses.

Two Different Cataract Surgical Procedures to Prevent Posterior Capsule Opacification

CataractPosterior Capsule Opacification

In this study, the investigators introduce a new "capsule-reserved" cataract surgical procedure in which anterior lens capsule is reserved and attached onto posterior lens capsule in the purpose of preventing posterior capsule opacification (PCO). A prospective randomized controlled study is reported to compare the new "capsule-reserved" surgical procedure with conventional one on the effectiveness to prevent posterior capsule opacification in age-related cataract patients.
