Retarded Phosphatidylcholine Versus Mesalazin in Remission of Ulcerative Colitis.

Ulcerative Colitis

The purpose of this study is to evaluate if retarded phosphatidylcholine is as effective as mesalazin in preventing an acute episode in ulcerative colitis. The hypothesis is, that ulcerative colitis is cuased by a defect in the barrier function of the colonic mucus. The background of the study is the finding that the phosphatidylcholine content of the colonic mucus is reduced in patients with ulcerative colitis, in both healthy and inflamed parts of the colon.

Investigation of the Faecal Loss of Vedolizumab and Its Role in Influencing Serum Drug Levels, Outcomes...

Ulcerative Colitis

The purpose of this study is to study the loss of vedolizumab in stool in patients with active ulcerative colitis (UC). Patients with moderate-to-severe UC who are commencing induction therapy with vedolizumab will be enrolled into a prospective study and stool will be collected for faecal vedolizumab measurement at days 1, 4 and 7; and again at weeks 2, 6 and 14. They will also be evaluated at three time-points (weeks 2, 6 and 14) for clinical and biochemical UC disease activity as well as serum vedolizumab concentrations and anti-vedolizumab antibodies.

Optimization of Golimumab Treatment in Ulcerative Colitis

ColitisUlcerative

This is a multicenter, prospective study of dose adjustment of golimumab in patients with ulcerative colitis who will initiate golimumab treatment (naïve to anti-TNF) or after failure (or exposure) to one anti-TNF, which aims to analyze serum golimumab levels and anti- golimumab antibody (ADA) levels during the induction (week 6) and maintenance phases (week 14, 30 and 54) and correlate them with efficacy parameters.

Capsulized Fecal Microbiota Transplantation in Pediatric Ulcerative Colitis Patients

Ulcerative Colitis

Fecal Microbiota Transplantation(FMT) - reconstitution of normal flora by a stool transplant from a healthy individual, is increasingly being recognized as a therapeutic modality for diseases that are associated with gut dysbiosis. This is a placebo-controlled, double blinded interventional study evaluating multiple, oral, fecal microbiota transplantation, administered in newly diagnosed pediatric patients with mild-moderate UC. The primary objective is to assess the safety and feasibility of multiple, oral, fecal microbiota transplantation, in newly diagnosed pediatric patients with mild-moderate UC. All processing will occur at the Center for Microbiome Research at Assaf Harofeh Medical Center, under GMP conditions.

Bio-enhanced Curcumin as an Add-On Treatment in Mild to Moderate Ulcerative Colitis

Ulcerative Colitis

Inflammatory Bowel Disease, including ulcerative colitis, is thought to result from an imbalance of pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory factors. As such, the majority of treatment options are directed at attempting to control the chronic inflammation and prolonging remission of clinical symptoms. Several studies have proven that curcumin has well-established anti-inflammatory properties. However, curcumin has poor bioavailability and prior studies have needed to use high concentrations in order to study the efficacy of the product. The investigators propose that a bio-enhanced preparation of curcumin will require a lower dosage to reach and affect its target tissue and will subsequently produce less adverse side effects.

Fecal Microbiota Transplant in the Treatment of Ulcerative Colitis

Ulcerative ColitisActive Moderate

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of Fecal Microbiota Transplant (FMT) for treating patients with mild to moderate Ulcerative Colitis (UC). Even with the expanding choices of medication for UC, physicians and patients are still in search of highly effective and safe medications with minimal side effects. FMT has been approved for the treatment of a bacterial infection called Clostridium difficile. In this setting, FMT has been proven to be an effective and safe alternative therapy with zero reported serious adverse events from patients that have had this treatment. The providers that are conducting this study hypothesize that delivering microbes from a healthy human gut can help treat the damages caused by UC. This is done by "transplanting" fecal material, which contains a highly complex and dense community of healthy microbes, including bacteria, fungi and viruses. This collection of microbes is referred to as a microbiome. Preliminary studies suggest that alteration of the microbiome can help treat UC.

Mesalazine With Hydrocortisone Sodium Succinate Enema for 4-Week Treatment in Patients With Ulcerative...

Ulcerative ColitisUnspecified

The research aims to evaluate the efficacy and safety of that mesalazine with hydrocortisone sodium succinate for the induction of clinical remission during a 4-week double-blind treatment period in active UC (define as total Mayo score of greater than or equal to 4 and less than or equal to 10). A total of 528 patients will be randomly divided into three group, one will receive mesalazine 4g with hydrocortisone sodium succinate 100mg enema, and the other two group will respectively to receive mesalazine 4g and hydrocortisone sodium 100mg one times daily for 4 weeks. The end of the study for every patient is the improvement of main symptoms. The primary endpoint is the clinical remission after 2 and 4 weeks double-blind treatment, defined on the basis of a total Mayo score ≤ 2 points, with no subscore > 1 point. The secondary endpoint are endoscopic mucosal healing at week 2 and 4 of double-blind period, defined as an absolute subscore for endoscopy portion of the Mayo score of 0 point and the change from baseline in Quality of Life at week 4 of double-blind period based on the IBDQ.
