Hand Therapy or Not Following Collagenase Treatment for Dupuytren's Contracture?

Dupuytren Disease of Palm and FingerWith Contracture

This study evaluates if hand therapy have an impact on the patients' preformance of and satisfaction with everyday activities or not following collagenase injection treatment for Dupuytren's contracture. Differences on this between patients with contracted proximal interphalangeal joint(s) and patients with affected metacarpophalangeal joint(s) only, will also be investigated. Two equal sized groups will either receive hand therapy or no treatment following the injection and extension procedure.

The flexibility of the hamstrings is a very important component both for general health and when exercising. The lack of hamstring flexibility has been related to the increase in the likelihood of suffering a large number of musculoskeletal pathologies, due to the possibility of causing important muscle imbalances, which include lumbar spine pathologies, such as disc hernias or spondyloarthrosis. In addition, the decrease in the flexibility of the hamstring musculature is also related to the increased likelihood of suffering muscle strains, patellar tendon tendinopathies, femoropatellar syndrome and decreased lumbopelvic rhythm. Clinically, an invasive technique has appeared, known as Ultrasound-guided Percutaneous Neuromodulation (PNM). This minimally invasive intervention consists in the application of a percutaneous electrical stimulation (PES) through an acupuncture needle-like electrode that is placed in close proximity to the nerve or motor point of the muscle with ultrasound guidance. At the clinical level, the PES is always used with the therapeutic aim of relieving chronic pain and neuropathic pain. Similarly, in sports, PES is used with the aim of improving muscular activity. Therefore, according to the characteristics and the therapeutic benefits of this technique, further research is needed to discover multiple clinical indications. The aim of this study was to examine the effects on flexibility and strength of an ultrasound-guided percutaneous neuromodulation intervention in patients with shortening of the hamstring muscles.

Contracture of Elbow Joint

The elbow contracture is a secondary injury that can occur after direct trauma, causing the patient to have limitations in their range of motion. Objective evaluation protocols that help in decision making for the indication of these therapeutic resources have great value in rehabilitation, as they reduce unnecessary expenses and improve the assertiveness in the indication of this resource. Objective: To verify the immediate effects of superficial heat associated with sustained stretching through muscle activity and range of motion in the posttraumatic contractures of the elbow seeking the best indication of orthosis. Methods: Characterized as a randomized crossover type clinical trial. Sample of 20 adult subjects, of both sexes, over 18 years old, with elbow stiffness due to fractures and / or dislocations with indication of orthosis use. Patients will be divided into 2 randomly assigned intervention groups: the control group (CG) who will perform the 10 'sustained stretching drawn by a defined load through maximal voluntary isometric contraction (MVIC) and the modified Weeks Group (GWM) will perform 20 'of surface heat through the swirl and soon after the stretching sustained by 10' with already defined load. All patients will undergo an initial assessment and will participate in all 2 interventions while respecting a 7 day washout period. Goniometry and the visual analogue scale will be applied at the beginning and end of the interventions. The Delsys® brand equipment will be used to collect the electromyographic data. Placement and positioning of the electrodes will follow the determinations of the Seniam protocol. The activation of the brachial, brachioradial and triceps brachii muscles during the MVIC will be analyzed and also during the respective intervention protocols.

Hip Flexor Resistance Training on Pin Young Female Cricket Players

The aim of this research is to study the role of hip flexor strength in the act of particular movement tasks generally required in cricket. In young cricket players, hip flexor training protocol may be productive in improving the acceleration time of sprint and shuttle run. It was a Randomized Controlled Trial conducted in National Cricket Academy Lahore, Lahore zonal Cricket Academy, Multan High Performance Cricket Centre during 6 months. 30 participants were selected through Non Probability Convenience Sampling Technique with inclusion criteria Female cricket players involved in their training programs aged 17-25 years and Participants should be bodily active before the start of trial for minimum 30 minutes a day for 5 days of week. The participants were excluded if Systematic strength training Performed by the athletes for the hip flexors more than a week before the start of trial and if Athlete suffered an injury or having pain in low back area, hips or lower limbs in last 6 months or if they have any diagnosed Neuro-musculoskeletal, musculo-skeletal pathology. The Data Collection Tools were 40-yd Dash Test, Shuttle Run and Dynamometer.
