Epithelial Ovarian Cancer- Staging and Response to Chemotherapy Evaluated by PET/CT

Epithelial Ovarian CancerPeritoneal Cancer1 more

The purpose of this study is to determine, whether there is clinical benefit of using fdg-PET/CT (F-18-fluorodeoxyglucose- positron emission tomography/computed tomography)compared to contrast-enhanced CT in primary treatment of advanced epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) Objectives the impact of preoperative PET/CT compared to CT on EOC stage definition to compare the value of preoperative PET/CT, CT and laparoscopy in intra-abdominal tumour assessment. Laparotomy findings evaluated by surgeon and histopathologic results serve as the reference standard. to compare serum markers HE4(human epididymis protein 4) and CA125 (cancer antigen 125) with FDG-PET/CT and CT in treatment response evaluation during neoadjuvant chemotherapy and primary treatment of EOC to compare FDG PET/CT based treatment response evaluation with RECIST and GCIG criteria Methods All the patients will undergo FDG-PET/CT prior surgery, after possible neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT) and 4 weeks after completion of primary platinum-based chemotherapy. CA125 and HE4 levels are measured pre-operatively, with every chemotherapy cycle and regularly during follow-up until 1st disease relapse

Tivozanib As Maintenance Therapy In GYN

Ovarian CancerFallopian Tube Cancer1 more

This research study is evaluating a drug called tivozanib as a possible treatment for ovarian, fallopian tube or primary peritoneal cancer. Angiogenesis is the formation of new blood vessels. Tumors need blood vessels to grow and spread. Tivozanib is an anti-angiogenesis medicine that fights cancer by cutting off a tumor's blood supply so that it does not get the blood and nutrients it needs to grow. In this research study, the Investigators are looking to see whether tivozanib works as a maintenance therapy for ovarian, fallopian tube or primary peritoneal carcinoma in participants who have achieved a complete response following chemotherapy. Maintenance therapy is given after a disease has responded to previous treatment. It is given to help prevent the spread or recurrence of the tumor.

Geriatric Assessment and Nursing Telephone Intervention in Elderly Women With Ovarian Cancer

Ovarian CancerPeritoneal Cancer1 more

Older woman with ovarian cancer have a worse prognosis compared to younger patients. However, the reason is not known. Currently, the standard of care is to evaluate younger and older patients with cancer the same way. However, older patients with cancer often have more complicated issues to manage. For example, older patients often have other medical problems, take more medications, and be dependent on others for help and transportation. Too often, the medical team is unaware of these issues which can effect the patients care. The purpose of this study is to apply a set of questions designed specifically for patients with cancer who are older than 65 years of age. These questions are called a geriatric assessment. The investigators want to better understand which older patients with ovarian cancer will be able to tolerate the chemotherapy and surgery and why. This study will also see if a telephone call from a nurse who specializes in caring for older patients will improve patient care. This study will determine how feasible it is to perform geriatric assessments and telephone calls in patients with ovarian cancer.

Intraperitoneal Infusion of Autologous Monocytes With Sylatron (Peginterferon Alfa-2b) and Actimmune...

Fallopian Tube CancerOvarian Cancer1 more

Ovarian cancer is a leading cause of cancer death in women. Monocytes are white blood cells that slow tumor growth. Interferons (IFNs) are molecules that help immune cells fight cancer. Researchers want to stimulate monocytes with IFNs. They want to test if these stimulated monocytes combined with the drugs Sylatron and Actimmune can shrink tumors and slow the progression of cancer. Objective: To test how well IFN stimulated monocytes, with Sylatron and Actimmune, kill tumor cells. Eligibility: Women ages 18 and older with certain ovarian, fallopian tube, or peritoneal cancers Design: Participants will be screened with: Medical history Physical exam Blood and urine tests Scan Results or sample from previous biopsy Participants may have a tumor sample taken. Participants who do not have a port will have a catheter placed inside the abdominal cavity. It will be used to give the treatment. Participants will have visits for 4 days of each 28-day cycle. This includes overnight observation. Participants with ascites fluid in their abdominal cavity will have it sampled twice. Each cycle, participants will have: Blood tests Leukapheresis. Some blood is removed and put through a machine that separates out the monocytes. The rest of the blood is returned to the body. Infusion of the monocytes and study drugs Participants will have weekly phone calls in Cycle 1 and scans every 2 cycles. Participants will continue treatment until they can no longer tolerate it or their cancer gets worse. Participants will have a visit about 1 month after stopping treatment, then monthly phone calls.

WCC# 59 Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy Utilizing Carboplatin in First Recurrence Ovarian...

Ovarian CancerFallopian Tube Cancer1 more

This is an open-label, pilot study in patients with a diagnosis of recurrent ovarian, fallopian tube or primary peritoneal carcinoma who have undergone standard cytoreductive surgery following by adjuvant chemotherapy. It is expected that this first surgery was optimal - as defined as no residual tumor > or = 1 centimeter. Patient has clinical evidence of a first recurrence. The patient undergoes surgery and isotonic normal saline (perfusate) heated and administered into the abdomen, followed by hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy infusion (HIPC) administering carboplatin (chemotherapy). Six weeks after surgery patients will receive adjuvant chemotherapy with Paclitaxel and Carboplatin for 6 cycles.

Trial of Best Supportive Care and Either Cisplatin or Paclitaxel to Treat Patients With Primary...

Ovarian CancerPeritoneal Cancer2 more

The best way to treat MBO in patients with ovarian cancer has not been studied enough by trials that assess how more than one treatment arm (surgical, chemotherapeutic, supportive care approaches) affects clinical outcomes like resolution of bowel obstruction, survival, and quality of life. To improve patient outcomes, we must assess which patients will do better with palliative surgery, chemotherapy, or best supportive care. This study will gather safety information, and how reasonable it is to give chemotherapy and BSC to patients with advanced ovarian cancer and MBO who are non-surgical candidates. This study will also look into the effects of chemotherapy and BSC on the quality of life and resolution of bowel obstruction, in hopes to perform future studies that lead to the best management of MBO.

Consolidation Therapy With Hu3S193 for Women With Ovarian, Primary Peritoneal or Fallopian Tube...

Fallopian Tube CancerOvarian Cancer1 more

RATIONALE: Monoclonal antibodies, such as Hu3S193, can block tumor growth in different ways. Some block the ability of tumor cells to grow and spread. Others find tumor cells and help kill them or carry tumor-killing substances to them. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying how well Hu3S193 works as a consolidation therapy for women with relapsing platinum-sensitive ovarian, primary peritoneal or fallopian tube cancer.

Avastin in Patients With Epithelial Ovarian, Primary Peritoneal Serous or Fallopian Tube Cancer...

Ovarian CancerPrimary Peritoneal Serous Cancer1 more

The purpose of this study is to evaluate how the participant's disease (ovarian, primary peritoneal serous, fallopian tube, or papillary serous endometrial cancer) responds to additional treatment with Avastin (bevacizumab). Participants have already received Avastin as part of maintenance therapy for their cancer. Maintenance therapy is a medical therapy that is given to people to prevent a relapse. However, cancer may return after maintenance therapy. This research study hopes to determine whether additional treatment with Avastin will be effective in treating the participant's cancer.

Fallopian Tube CancerOvarian Cancer1 more

RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as docetaxel and capecitabine, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Giving docetaxel together with carboplatin may kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying how well giving docetaxel together with capecitabine works in treating patients with recurrent or persistent ovarian epithelial cancer, fallopian tube cancer, or peritoneal cavity cancer.
