AgingMuscle Atrophy or Weakness2 moreThis study is investigating changes to the proteins in skeletal muscle that contribute to reduced muscle size and muscle function that occurs with aging.
Vagus Nerve Stimulation for Systemic Lupus Erythematous
Systemic Lupus ErythematosusAutonomic Dysfunction2 moreThis trial uses a double blinded, randomized 1:1 (active:sham) placebo controlled, parallel group design, investigating the effects of transcutaneous vagus nerve stimulation (tVNS) in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). The main objective is to evaluate whether adjuvant treatment with tVNS in SLE patients with signs of autonomic dysfunction and fatigue improves patient perceived levels of fatigue. Secondary outcomes include tVNS induced changes to: patient reported outcomes, autonomic nervous system function, SLE disease activity, immunologic profile, tolerability of pain and organ (cardiac, vascular and kidney) functions. Participants are randomized to received either active non-invasive transcutaneous vagus nerve stimulation (tVNS) or inactive sham stimulation. The study period is divided in two periods. The first period investigates the effects of short-term, high-intensity tVNS treatment. The second phase investigates the effects of long-term, middle-intensity tVNS treatment.
Physiopathology of Neuromuscular Function Related to Fatigue in Chronic Renal Disease
Chronic Kidney Disease Stage 3BChronic Kidney Disease stage42 moreChronic Kidney Disease (CKD) induces many metabolic troubles especially for the advanced CKD (stage 3b-5) patients and their prevalence and importance grow with the deterioration of the glomerular filtration rate (GFR). Among them, muscle wasting is common and multifactorial, partially explained by an imbalance between protein catabolism and synthesis. Muscular strength is also affected beyond the reduction of the lean body mass, resulting in profound fatigue. The present study seeks to quantify the prevalence of low muscular strength production (dynapenia) in a cohort of elderly patients with advanced CKD, through a maximal voluntary contraction (MVC) handgrip test compared to control data available in the literature, matched in term of age and sex. It also aims to investigate the link between the reported fatigue (subjective) and the evolution of the MVC, called critical force (fcrit) during a fatiguing task (objective fatigability).
Assessment of the Efficacy of a Fatigue Management Therapy in Schizophrenia
SchizophreniaFatigue is commonly experienced in numerous pathologies, including schizophrenia. Research has shown that chronic fatigue can exacerbate clinical symptoms. Several evidence-based interventions for fatigue syndrome have been shown to be effective in other medical conditions, but up to this date no research has assessed interventions in fatigue management within psychotic populations. The aim of this study is to evaluate (in a multisite single blind randomized clinical trial) the efficacy of a cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) intervention of fatigue management in people diagnosed with schizophrenia. Secondary objectives include the examination of changes in fatigue scores as well as clinical symptoms, physical & cognitive functioning, quality of life at 9-month post CBT intervention. Another aim in this study is to assess - MICROBIATE The investigators hypothesize that following the CBT treatment intervention, patients will demonstrate reduced level of fatigue. No change in the severity of fatigue is expected in the group receiving treatment as usual.

Multiple Sclerosis and Fatigue Assessment
Multiple SclerosisFatigue in patients with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a problem that is seen without physical exertion and affects the majority of patients. In studies on fatigue in the literature, it has been seen that subjective methods are frequently used by using evaluation scales based on patient statements, but objective evaluation methods are not yet sufficient. This study was planned to compare the measurement results by evaluating fatigue subjectively, objectively and cognitively in MS patients.

Acceptability of an Updated Version of the Untire mHealth App.
Cancer-related Problem/ConditionCancer-related FatigueThe goal of this clinical trial is to compare and measure acceptability and engagement between two versions of an app-based intervention (Untire app) designed to help adults with cancer related fatigue. The main questions we aim to answer are: Question 1: Will the acceptability and engagement of the Untire app differ between the two versions of the app? Questions 2: Will people's quality of life and levels of fatigue improve after using the Untire app for 12 weeks. Participants will be asked to: Complete a series of short questionnaires about current level of fatigue and then given access to the Untire app to use on their own device. Use the app regularly and work through the app's program at their own pace. Participants will be asked to complete questionnaires at different points over the study period (2, 4, 6 and 12 weeks) to find out how participants engage with the app and measure levels of fatigue and quality of life. Participants can stop using the app at any point. Participants who decide to stop using the app will be contacted (via email) to provide feedback on the app. Participants who completed the 12 weeks of app use will also be contacted to provide additional feedback on how they found using the app. Participants will not know which version of the app they will be given. Researchers will compare the two different versions of the app to see if there is a difference in levels of engagement and how well they reduce fatigue and improve quality of life.
