MitoQ for Fatigue in Multiple Sclerosis (MS)
Multiple SclerosisFatigueThe purpose of this study is to determine whether MS patients who receive Oral mitoquinone (MitoQ) have less fatigue than those receiving a placebo. A comparison between patient's fatigue scored at baseline and fatigue scored 12 weeks after drug initiation will assess if MitoQ has a significant change in fatigue.
Acupressure and Qigong in Chronic Fatigue Post COVID-19.
COVID-19Post-COVID-19 SyndromeInternational observational studies confirm the high incidence of post-infectious residual syndrome after infection with severe acute respiratory syndrome corona virus 2 (SARS-COV2), which can occur in 10-15% of all infected persons, regardless of the severity of the acute infection. Post corona virus disease 19 (postCOVID-19) patients suffer mostly from symptoms such as fatigue, muscle pain, problems to focus, depression and sleep disturbances. So far, there are no results of interventional studies for the treatment of chronic fatigue post COVID-19, but there are indicators that post COVID-19 syndrome is a chronic subclinical inflammation, similar to Chronic Fatigue Syndrome / Myalgic Encephalomyelitis CSF/ME, which also often develops from a postviral syndrome. Previously tested and effective strategies for the treatment of chronic fatigue syndrome / myalgic encephalomyelitis (CFS/ME) will be tested in the treatment of chronic fatigue postCOVID-19, in this randomized controlled trial a combination of acupressure and Qigong. The aim of this project is to evaluate an acupressure treatment plus a Qigong exercise series specifically tailored for chronic fatigue postCOVID-19 , used daily by the patients themselves and regularly supervised, in comparison to the advice literature on the treatment of PostCOVID-19 syndrome alone.
Pioglitazone Therapy Targeting Fatigue in Breast Cancer
Breast CancerMuscle FatigueThe goal of this project is to evaluate the therapeutic potential of pioglitazone (PIO) to target underlying mechanisms that promote muscle fatigue in patients with breast cancer. This represents an off-label use of this compound, both in terms of the patient population and the clinical phenotype targeted. The central research hypothesis of this study is that daily pioglitazone will restore transcriptional downregulation of pathways within skeletal that promote fatigue.
Genetic Predictors of Response to Acupuncture for Cancer-related Fatigue Among Breast Cancer Patients...
Breast CancerGenetic predictors of response to acupuncture for cancer-related fatigue among breast cancer patients after chemotherapy.
Massage for Prostate Cancer-Related Fatigue, mPROSTATE Study
Prostate CarcinomaThis phase II trial investigates the effect of massage in decreasing prostate cancer-related fatigue. Massage therapy has well known health benefits. This trial aims to find out if massage and touch therapies reduce fatigue due to cancer, and to learn if these therapies are better than traditional medicine or psychology for cancer related fatigue.
Fatigue as a Late Effect in Breast Cancer Survivors - is Acupuncture a Treatment Option?
FatigueDepression4 moreThe success of treatment of breast cancer has improved, hence the prevalence of survivors have increased. However, experienced late effects from the cancer itself or from cancer treatment is substantial. Anti-cancer treatment can have a number of side effects including nausea, fatigue, vomiting, anorexia and alopecia. Late effects such as cancer related fatigue (CRF) are very persistent. CRF is a common side effect of cancer therapy, and affects the quality of life of patients and their families. It is important to point out that CRF is a form of fatigue that are different from normal fatigue which everyone can experience every now and then. Acupuncture is increasingly used in cancer centers both in the US and Europe, and that patients are positive to using acupuncture. Albeit the emerging evidence for acupuncture and CRF, acupuncture has neither been offered as a treatment for CRF within a Norwegian hospital nor in general practice. Hence the investigators think there is a need for a large randomized controlled trial (RCT) in a Norwegian health care setting.
The Efficacy and Safety of a Chinese Herbal Medicine for Long COVID Associated Fatigue
Long COVIDThis is a randomized, double-blinded, placebo-controlled clinical trial to determine the efficacy and safety of a Chinese herbal medicine (Shenlingcao oral liquid) for treating long COVID associated fatigue.
REGAIN: RCT of Oxaloacetate for Fatigue in Long COVID
Post-COVID-19 SyndromeFatigue Syndrome1 moreFollowing acute COVID-19, some patients develop a group of debilitating symptoms that include fatigue, orthostatic intolerance, difficulty with attention and concentration (often called "brain fog"), myalgias and disrupted sleep. The term Long COVID is used to describe these symptoms after the initial viral infection has passed. These symptoms are the same as those that define myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS). A "Proof of Concept" trial showed significant fatigue benefit in Long COVID patients. This randomized, placebo controlled follow-on trial will determine whether oxaloacetate can reduce fatigue and improve other symptoms in patients with Long COVID who meet diagnostic criteria for ME/CFS.
Evaluation of an Integrative Medicine Outpatient Clinical Setting for Post-COVID-19 Patients
COVID-19FatigueThe study aims to identify whether a multimodal integrative naturopathy outpatient clinical concept can improve the symptoms of patients suffering from post-COVID-Syndrome. Main outcome is fatigue. The outpatient clinical programme consists of 11 weeks wherein patients visit the clinic one day per week. The pillars of classical naturopathy are combined with extended naturopathy and complementary procedures. Previous naturopathical studies on patients with chronic fatigue syndrome could find numerous indications that different types of naturopathy can help patients with fatigue.
rTMS for Post-stroke Fatigue
StrokeStroke2 moreThis experimental trial is investigating the use of magnetic stimulation of the brain as a possible treatment for people with post-stroke fatigue. Fatigue is a common condition after a stroke and can negatively impact an individual's ability to perform desired social and physical activities. Magnetic stimulation of the brain has been shown to improve signs and symptoms of related psychological (e.g., depression) conditions. Participants in this trial will receive a type of magnetic stimulation called repetitive magnetic stimulation, or rTMS. The investigators will measure feelings of fatigue, and other clinical characteristics related to mood and cognition, before and after participants receive rTMS.
