China Headache Registry Study

Headache DisordersPrimary9 more

In the Chinese Headache and Vertigo Registration Study, patients aged 4-99 years with headache (primary headache and secondary headache such as migraine and tension type headache), vertigo (vertigo diseases such as vestibular migraine) and chronic pain (fibromyalgia and other diseases) were collected. The biomarkers, imaging features, right-to-left shunt of the heart (lung), genetic characteristics, treatment, and outcome (in relation to other diseases) of headache-related diseases were studied, and long-term follow-up was planned.

Vagus Nerve Stimulation(VNS) As Treatment For Fibromyalgia Patients

Fibromyalgia

Fibromyalgia (FM) is a syndrome with clinical symptoms involving multiple systems. The efficacy of current treatments is inadequate, and more alternative modalities are needed for the management of FM patients. The parasympathetic vagus nerve innervates and integrates sensory, motor, and autonomic systems and has been suggested to play a role in pain modulation. The role of vagus nerve stimulation (VNS) as a treatment option for FM patients is yet to be investigated. The investigators propose to examine the hypothesis that vagus nerve stimulation could improve pain and related comorbid symptoms for FM patients.

An Investigation of Nomothetic Versus Idiographic Assessment in Chronic Pain

EndometriosisVulvodynia1 more

Endometriosis, vulvodynia, and fibromyalgia are chronic pain conditions that cause great suffering. Despite the significant prevalence of all three conditions, they are receiving relatively little attention in psychological treatment research. Despite the popularity of methods that rely on aggregated group data, such as randomized controlled trials (RCTs), concerns have been raised in recent years about the generalizability of results from these methods to the individual level - group-to-individual generalizability. Since psychological treatments in the clinic are focused on enhancing the well-being of a specific individual this might affect how researchers should study these conditions. The current project aims to investigate: (a) item suitability for daily assessment of psychological variables, (b) group-to-individual generalizability in outcome measures frequently used in psychological studies and treatments of chronic pain, (c) relations over time between process and outcome variables, and (d) possible differences in results obtained across three pain conditions.

The Effect of Central Sensitization on Treatment Response in Patients With Fibromyalgia

Central SensitisationFibromyalgia

Central sensitization (CS) is as increased response to normal or sub-threshold stimuli of central nervous system and its close relationship with fibromyalgia has been demonstrated in several studies. However, the effect of initial CS severity on treatment response in these patients is not fully known. In this study, it was aimed to investigate the severity of CS and its effect on treatment response in patients with fibromyalgia.

Virtual Reality as a Treatment Tool for Chronic Neck Pain in Patients With Fibromyalgia

Fibromyalgia

Fibromyalgia (FM) is a disease characterized by widespread pain, fatigue and cognitive alterations, among other symptoms, neck pain being the most frequent and debilitating. Virtual reality (VR) has emerged as a breakthrough for the treatment of such chronic conditions. The objective of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of VR in the treatment of chronic neck pain in patients with FM. Material and methods: Single-blind randomized clinical trial study. Patients with FM who meet the inclusion criteria will be recruited and will be distributed into three groups (GC, G1, G2). G1 (VR + cervical mobility exercises), G2 (cervical mobility exercises), control group (CG). The treatment will be administered twice a week for 4 weeks. Measurements of variables such as FIQ, EQ-5D, kinesiophobia, pain (VAS and algometer), range of motion (ROM), fatigue and adherence to treatment will be performed. A follow-up is intended to be carried out 15 days and a month after the end of the study.
