Mandible Fracture

Comparison between computer guided lag screw fixation versus traditional lag screw fixation in open reduction and internal fixation of anterior mandibular fractures.

Intertrochanteric Femoral Fracture Fixation Trial

Intertrochanteric FractureHip Fracture

The main goal of the study is to determine which cephalomedullary nail results in a better functional outcome for the patient with an unstable intertrochanteric hip fracture. Subjects will be randomized to fixation with either a Gamma3 cephalomedullary nail or an InterTan cephalomedullary nail. Outcomes will be reviewed over a 12 month follow-up period.

Types of Fixation of Vancouver B1 Periprosthetic Fractures

Femur Fractures

The purpose of this study is to compare two different but standard treatments for the fixation of Vancouver B1 periprosthetic. The investigators aim to compare open reduction internal fixation using a locked plating system versus plating and strut allograft with cerclage wiring to determine which treatment results in a faster return to function as measured by the TUG test at 6 weeks post-op.

Surgical Versus Nonsurgical Treatment of Fibular Fractures: A Prospective Randomized Study

Ankle FractureMalleolus Fracture3 more

Isolated surgical repair of the inside portion of the tibia may be enough to stabilize an ankle fracture in which both the tibia and the fibula are broken. This would alleviate the need for another incision, plate, and screws to repair the fibula. The purpose of this study is to help determine if surgically repairing only the tibia fracture will lead to equivalent clinical outcomes when compared with surgical repair of both bones. The hypothesis of this study is that operative stabilization of the medial malleolus fracture only, in otherwise ligamentously stable bimalleolar and/or trimalleolar fractures of the ankle, will lead to equivalent clinical outcomes and functional scores as those treated with operative stabilization of both malleoli and/or all malleoli.

Pronator Quadratus Preservation Following Volar Plate Fixation. RCT

Wrist Fracture,Distal Radius Fracture3 more

The purpose of this study is to determine pronator quadrutus preservation have clinical impact following volar plate fixation

Parathyroid Hormone for the Treatment of Humerus Fractures

Shoulder Fractures

Hypothesis: The investigators want to study whether parathyroid hormone improves healing of humerus after a fracture. The investigators will assess healing of the humerus with Constant score.

Evaluation of the Proximal Femoral Nail Antirotation With Cement Augmentation in Osteoporotic Femoral...

Proximal Femur Fracture

This is an open multicenter study, evaluating a new operative technique in femur neck fractures. The treatment consist of augmentated nails in cases of subtrochanteric or inter fracture due to osteoporosis. There two routine surgical techniques in femoral neck fractures: Insertion an intramedullary nail (without augmentation) to the bone. insertion a nail and metal plateto the bone. The major disadvantage of these methods is the relative high rate (4-10 precentages) of failure because of the femur head bone which is very brittle and osteoporotic. This new approach enables the nail a better grip as a result of the cement augmentation which consists of PMMA (Polymethyl methacrylate). The investigators main goal is to evaluate the use of this surgical technique

Reducing Range of Motion Deficits Post Radial Fracture

Radius Fractures

This a randomized controlled study to test the hypothesis that patients who perform in-cast exercises will have superior range of motion immediately post-cast removal, without a concomitant increase in complication rate when compared with a control group who receives standard post cast care which does not include the intervention exercises.

Operative Versus Non Operative Treatment of Proximal Humerus (Shoulder Joint) Fractures

3 and 4 Part Proximal Humerus Fractures

To determine if operative treatment of non operative management of these fractures is best. Hypothesis: There is no difference in functional outcome between operative and non-operatively treated 3- and 4-part proximal humerus fractures at one year's time.

Plating Clavicle Fractures

Clavicle FractureNon Union/Malunion

The anterior-inferior clavicle plate position will have a lower rate of soft tissue irritation that limits activity and/or requires hardware removal compared to superior plate position.
