Prevalence of Corneal Astigmatism Before Glaucoma Surgery in Chinese Patients With Primary Angle-closure...

GlaucomaAngle-Closure1 more

Clear-lens extraction has been considered as first-line therapy for primary angle closure glaucoma(PACG) and application of toric intraocular lens (IOLs) leads to better postoperative visual acuity, yet little is known about the prevalence of corneal astigmatism in PACG patients. We intend to make biometry examination for Chinese PACG patients, to obtain keratometry (K) , axial length (AL) and so on, and demographics data will also be recorded. We will study the prevalence of corneal astigmatism before glaucoma surgery in Chinese patients with PACG. Furthermore, differences of corneal astigmatism between primary angle-closure glaucoma and cataract patients will be explored. Finally, the prevalence of corneal astigmatism before glaucoma surgery in Chinese patients with PACG will be portrayed and can be instructive to the IOLs' manufactering.

Associations of Vitamin D Receptor ApaI and Tru9I Polymorphisms With the Risk of Primary Open-angle...

Primary Open- Angle Glaucoma

This study investigated whether vitamin D receptor gene polymorphism is altered in primary open-angle glaucoma subjects carrying the risk allele.Primary open-angle glaucoma patients and age-matched people in the Han population were enrolled. Vitamin D receptor polymorphic analysis was studied by polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism technique.

LSFG in Patients With Normal Tension Glaucoma Tension Glaucoma

GlaucomaPrimary Open Angle

Glaucoma is the second leading cause of blindness worldwide. Literature shows increasing evidence that dysfunction of ocular microcirculation in the optic nerve influences the progression of glaucoma. Laser speckle flowgraphy (LSFG) represents a non-invasive method to quantify ocular perfusion also at the ONH. LSFG enables noninvasive quantification of microcirculation of the optic disc in Japanese glaucoma patients

Comparing Rates of Glaucoma in Professional Wind Versus Non-Wind Instrument Players

GlaucomaIntraocular Pressure1 more

The purpose of the present study is to compare rates of glaucomatous optic neuropathy in professional wind versus non-wind instrument players in the Philadelphia Orchestra. A secondary objective is to evaluate intra-ocular pressure and choroidal thickness of wind instrument players under variable playing conditions.

Comparison of Optic Nerve Head and Retinal Nerve Fiber Layer Parameters Derived From Two Different...

Glaucoma

This prospective, monocentric, non-invasive clinical study is designed to measure normal structural parameters of the optic nerve head, the peripapillary retinal nerve fiber layer, and the macula using the Heidelberg Spectralis OCT device. This study is conducted in normal, healthy volunteers and glaucoma patients. The main goal of the study is to provide an analysis of the comparability of these parameters between two different software versions and their respective method of scan centration on the optic disc center. The study will include at least 40 eyes of 40 subjects; 20 normal, healthy subjects and 20 glaucoma patients. All subjects will undergo Spectralis OCT imaging, biometric and ophthalmoscopic examination, and visual field testing in one single visit. Total study duration (first patient first visit to last patient last visit) is anticipated to be approximately 4 weeks.

Comparing Diurnal Fluctuations in Intra Ocular Pressure Measured in Same Day Versus Different Days...

Glaucoma

Glaucoma is one of the leading causes of blindness in the west. The disease caused by high intra ocular pressure (IOP) and characterized by damage to the optic nerve and gradual loss of visual field. Intra ocular pressure change during the day. To evaluate the efficiency of the therapy it is common to measure the intra ocular pressure at different times of the day. Most ophthalmologists admit the patient for one day at which intra ocular pressure is measured at different times. This method does not mimic the patient daily routine and may not reflect the true diurnal fluctuations. For this reason some ophthalmologists measure the intra ocular pressure at different times and at different days. It is not known if both methods give similar diurnal curves.
