Comparison of Optic Nerve Head and Retinal Nerve Fiber Layer Parameters Derived From Two Different...

Glaucoma

This prospective, monocentric, non-invasive clinical study is designed to measure normal structural parameters of the optic nerve head, the peripapillary retinal nerve fiber layer, and the macula using the Heidelberg Spectralis OCT device. This study is conducted in normal, healthy volunteers and glaucoma patients. The main goal of the study is to provide an analysis of the comparability of these parameters between two different software versions and their respective method of scan centration on the optic disc center. The study will include at least 40 eyes of 40 subjects; 20 normal, healthy subjects and 20 glaucoma patients. All subjects will undergo Spectralis OCT imaging, biometric and ophthalmoscopic examination, and visual field testing in one single visit. Total study duration (first patient first visit to last patient last visit) is anticipated to be approximately 4 weeks.

Prevalence of Corneal Astigmatism Before Glaucoma Surgery in Chinese Patients With Primary Angle-closure...

GlaucomaAngle-Closure1 more

Clear-lens extraction has been considered as first-line therapy for primary angle closure glaucoma(PACG) and application of toric intraocular lens (IOLs) leads to better postoperative visual acuity, yet little is known about the prevalence of corneal astigmatism in PACG patients. We intend to make biometry examination for Chinese PACG patients, to obtain keratometry (K) , axial length (AL) and so on, and demographics data will also be recorded. We will study the prevalence of corneal astigmatism before glaucoma surgery in Chinese patients with PACG. Furthermore, differences of corneal astigmatism between primary angle-closure glaucoma and cataract patients will be explored. Finally, the prevalence of corneal astigmatism before glaucoma surgery in Chinese patients with PACG will be portrayed and can be instructive to the IOLs' manufactering.

LSFG in Patients With Normal Tension Glaucoma Tension Glaucoma

GlaucomaPrimary Open Angle

Glaucoma is the second leading cause of blindness worldwide. Literature shows increasing evidence that dysfunction of ocular microcirculation in the optic nerve influences the progression of glaucoma. Laser speckle flowgraphy (LSFG) represents a non-invasive method to quantify ocular perfusion also at the ONH. LSFG enables noninvasive quantification of microcirculation of the optic disc in Japanese glaucoma patients

Lipid Profile of Tenon's Capsule

Glaucoma

The purpose of this study is to provide data on the lipid profile of the Tenon's capsule in Human glaucomatous eyes and to establish possible relationships with the short term outcome of filtration surgery.

Corneal Endothelium After Glaucoma Surgery

GlaucomaCorneal Damage1 more

The purpose of this trial is to study the change in corneal endothelial cell after glaucoma surgery, non-contact specular microscopic examination is performed for the patients who underwent glaucoma surgery; trabeculectomy and Ahmed glaucoma valve implant surgery prospectively. Change in corneal endothelial cell density, hexagonality, and coefficient of variation of cell area will be analyzed and compared to the baseline and between the types of the surgeries.

Mechanism of Aphakic and Pseudophakic Glaucoma in Pediatric Patients

Congenital CataractAphakic or Pseudophakic Glaucoma

In cell cultures, lens epithelial cells and trabecular meshwork cells will be exposed to aqueous humor from pediatric eyes undergoing cataract removal surgery. Cytokine analysis of candidate factors will be performed before and after exposure to lens epithelial.

How Does Your Genetic Make-up (Profile) Influence Your Glaucoma?

Primary Open Angle Glaucoma

Glaucoma is a group of diseases in which visual loss occurs because of damage to the optic nerve. Research has shown that certain genes may cause glaucoma in some cases. So far, research has only been able to find the genes responsible for glaucoma in a small percentage of people who have glaucoma. The purpose of this project is to study the genes in patients with and without glaucoma to find additional genes that may be responsible for causing glaucoma.

A New View of Normal Tension Glaucoma: Autoregulation and Systemic Blood Pressure

Normal Tension Glaucoma

The objective of this study is to determine whether systemic blood pressure in the body is related to the development and progression of normal tension glaucoma in the eye. The study aims to clarify whether subjects with episodes of hypotension (low blood pressure) at night are at increased risk for sight loss and the development of normal tension glaucoma.

Collection of Blood Specimens From Patients in AL-3789 Studies for Elevated Intraocular Pressure...

Open-Angle Glaucoma

The objective of this study is to obtain blood samples from patients who are or were participants in any Alcon AL-3789 clinical trial. Association will be conducted to search for genetic markers in patients with glaucoma or ocular hypertension.
